EMI0002.0006

arrives, in which A and B arylene radicals, R1 a benzene radical, R2 an alkyl,

with a diacetoacetyl-arylendianiin of the formula HsCCOCH9CONH-A NHCGCH-COCH8 in a molar ratio: 2 1.
Since the dyes according to the invention are pigments, water-soluble groups, in particular acidic water-soluble groups, sulfonic acid or carboxylic acid groups, are of course excluded.
Those diacetoacetylarylenediamines are preferably used in which the arylene radical A 'in the formula (3) is preferably a phenylene or diphenylene radical, and in particular a radical of the formula

means in which X1 is a hydrogen or halogen atom, an alkyl or alkoxy group,
Y1 denotes a hydrogen or halogen atom, an alkyl or alkoxy or trifluoromethyl group or a cyano group and Y2 denotes a hydrogen or halogen atom, an alkyl or alkoxy group.
The diacetoacetyl-arylendiamine of the formula (3) is kept in a simple manner by the action of diketene or ethylacetate on aromatic diamines, such as @z. $.

Diazo compounds of amines of the formula are preferably used
EMI0002.0006
where R <U>. "</U> X, Y and n have the meaning given. The coupling preferably takes place in a weakly acidic medium, expediently in the presence of customary agents which promote the coupling.
Agents promoting the coupling may be mentioned in particular as dispersants, for example aralkyl sulfonates such as dodecylbenzenesulfonate or 1,1'-dinaphthylmethane-2,2'-disulfonic acid or polycondensation products of alkylene oxides. The dispersion of the coupling component can also advantageously contain protective colloids, for example methyl cellulose or smaller amounts of inert organic solvents that are sparingly soluble or insoluble in water,
for example optionally halogenated or nitrated aromatic hydrocarbons, such as benzene, toluene, xylene, chlorobenzene, dichlorobenzenes or nitrobenzene, and aliphatic halogenated hydrocarbons, such as.
B. carbon tetrachloride or trichlorethylene, and also water-miscible organic solvents such as acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, methanol, ethanol or isopropanol.
The coupling can also advantageously be carried out in such a way that an acidic solution of the diazonium salt is continuously combined with an alkaline solution of the coupling component in a mixing nozzle, the components being coupled immediately. Care must be taken to ensure that the diazo component and coupling component are present in equimolar amounts in the mixing nozzle, where it is advantageous to use a small excess of the diazo component.
The easiest way to do this is to control the pH of the liquid in the mixing nozzle. A strong swirling of the two solutions must also be ensured in the mixing nozzle. The resulting dye dispersion is continuously withdrawn from the mixing nozzle and the dye is separated off by filtration.
The new dyes are valuable yellow pigments. They are characterized by an unusually high level of lightfastness. They can be used for the most diverse pigment applications, e.g. B. in finely divided form for coloring cellulose ethers and esters or superpolyamides or super-polyurethanes or polyesters in the spinning material as well as for the production of colored lacquers or lacquer formers, solutions and products made from acetyl cellulose, nitrocellulose, natural resins or synthetic resins, such as Polymerization resins or condensation resins, e.g.
B. aminoplasts, alkyl resins, phenoplasts, polyolefins such as polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyacrylonitrile, rubber, casein, silicone and silicone resins. They can also be used advantageously in the production of colored pencils, cosmetic preparations or laminating plates. Compared to the dyes of the German patent document No. <B> 1 <I> 150 </I> </B> 165 (Case 3782), the dyes according to the invention are distinguished by better light fastness.
In the following examples, unless otherwise stated, parts are parts by weight, percentages are percentages by weight, and temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. <I> Example 2 </I> 34.5 parts of 4-methoxy-3- (3'-amino-4'-chlorobenzoyl-amino) -1-trifluoromethylbenzene are stirred in 150 parts of glacial acetic acid with 30 parts of 30% hydrochloric acid and thoroughly Addition of 150 parts of ice, cooled to -5. 25 parts of 4N sodium nitrite solution are allowed to flow in while stirring, the temperature being kept at 0 to 2 by adding ice.
A clear, yellowish solution is initially obtained, from which the diazonium salt partially separates out in crystalline form after some time. It is diluted with ice and water until a clear solution has formed again. Any excess of nitrous acid is destroyed by adding urea and the diazo solution is adjusted to pH 4 with 50 parts of crystalline sodium acetate.
On the other hand, 16.2 parts of 2-chloro-5-methyl-1,4-bis-acetoacetylaminobenzene are dissolved in 400 parts of water at 40 to 45 with 30 parts of 30% sodium hydroxide solution, filtered clear with 0.2 part of blood charcoal and, after addition of 5 Parts of n-butyl sulforicinoleate are added dropwise to the diazo solution with good stirring. The coupling takes about an hour and the temperature of the mixture rises to 20-25 during this time.
The diazo compound, which is still clearly detectable after the drop has been added, disappears completely after brief heating to 30 to 35. The mixture is then heated to 80 to 85 in one hour, filtered hot and the filter residue is washed salt-free with hot water. After drying at 95 to 100 in vacuo, the dye is obtained in a hard, poorly spreadable texture. The pigment obtained is stirred in 800 parts of nitrobenzene and heated to 140 to 145 for 3 to 4 hours.
After this time all coarse and hard particles have disappeared, and uniform, regular, fine yellow needles can be seen under the microscope. It is allowed to cool to 100, filtered and washed with hot nitrobenzene and then with methanol until the filtrate is completely colorless. After drying, you get a loose, soft pigment that can be easily distributed in plastics and paint media. The colorations in PVC result in brilliant greenish yellow tones with very good migration and lightfastness.
<I> Example 2 </I> 203.25 parts of 4-trifluoromethyl-3- (4'-chloro-3'-aminobenzoylamino) -diphenyl ether are dissolved in 200 parts of warm glacial acetic acid: and with stirring in a solution of 250 parts of 30% strength hydrochloric acid and 10 parts of the sodium salt of N-benzyl-, u-heptadecyl-benzimidazole-disulfonic acid in 100 parts of ice water, then diazotized at 0 to 5 with 125 parts of 4N sodium nitrite solution and clear filtered.
On the other hand, 81.5 parts of 5-chloro-2-methyl-1,4-bisacetoacetylaminobenzene are dissolved in a mixture of 300 parts of 30% strength sodium hydroxide solution and 2000 parts of water. The two solutions, if necessary after dilution with water, are continuously fed to a mixing nozzle, the components being coupled immediately. By regulating the supply of the solutions, it is ensured that the pH value in the mixing nozzle is between 4.5 and 5.5. The temperature should be 30.
The setting can be regulated by adding water to the solutions of the components. The resulting dye suspension is filtered and the filter residue is washed salt-free with water and squeezed off well. The presscake is heated in 2000 parts of o-dichlorobenzene to 100 to 110 hours for several hours, most of the water being distilled off azeotropically, then filtered hot, washed with hot o-dichlorobenzene,
until the filtrate runs clear and colorless. It is then washed with cold methanol and then with water. After drying at 70 to 75 in vacuo, a yellow pigment is obtained in good yield which dyes PVC in brilliant green, yellowish tones with very good migration and lightfastness.
The table below lists further pigments which can be obtained by the process of this example. Column I contains the diamines on which the acetoacetic arylides used as coupling components are based, and column 1I contains the aminobenzenecarboxylic acid arylides used for the diazo component.
In column III, the shade of 0.2% coloring of the pigment in PVC is given.
