Sammelkanal f r Zusammentragmaschinen

Collective channel for gathering machines
The subject matter of the present invention is a collecting channel for a paper sheet collating machine with a conveyor chain provided with driving pins and effective in the longitudinal direction of the collecting channel, in order to collect the paper sheets deposited in the collecting channel along its sliding surface.
In gathering machines of the known type, several depositing stations are arranged one behind the other over a collecting channel. Each depositing station is assigned a stack of printed sheets, of which the bottom sheet of paper is picked up by the gripper of a gripper drum and placed on a support table arranged below the gripper drum and above the collecting channel. is placed. Under the collecting channel, an endless conveyor chain is arranged, which engages through the collecting channel and pushing the printed sheet on the loading table into the collecting channel and transporting it further.
The collecting channel usually has an inclined sliding surface, which is inclined against a vertically standing stop surface. Continuously inclined sliding surface and, the vertical stop surface. on the other hand, the printed sheet aligns itself in the collecting channel according to its longitudinal direction during further transport. The fact that a collating machine is designed to collate different sheet formats means that the feeder pens are guided relatively close to and parallel to the stop surface
which is why, in the case of larger printed sheet formats, the driver pin acts on the printed sheet asymmetrically to the longitudinal axis of the printed sheet.
The collecting channels of the known type have the disadvantage that as a result of the vibration of the conveyor chain and idam, it of the driving pins on the one hand and the great friction between the most pristine printed sheet and the sliding surface on the other hand, the longitudinal edge of the lowest printing sheet directed towards the driving pin gradually moves on the driving pin so that the bottom printed sheet against the above Above is moved backwards. The great friction between the lowermost printed sheet and the sliding surface is at least partially due to the weight of the printed sheet above it, whereby between the. lowest print sheet and the sliding surface a vac. uum arises.
A large amount of friction is also favored by electrostatic charging of the sliding surface.
Another disadvantage is that the topmost printed sheets of a stack in particular only fly loosely onto the stack as a result of the air located between the printed sheets, while the lowermost printed sheets adhere relatively tightly to one another due to the weight of the stack above. In the event of a sudden stop of the gathering machine, the uppermost printed sheets slide forward due to their inertia, whereby the stack is displaced in the conveying direction.
Another disadvantage of the great friction between the lowermost printed sheet and the sliding surface is that, due to the aforementioned asymmetrical attack of the driver pin, the printed sheets swing out of the conveying direction at high conveying speeds, which leads to operational interruptions.
To eliminate these disadvantages, collecting channels have become known on the market which have corrugated plates instead of polished sliding surfaces. Corrugated sheets, however, have the disadvantage that they exert a curling effect, as a result of which the inclination of the lowermost printed sheet is shifted to the rear and with its upper edge on what the stack is shifted in the conveying direction.
A substantial increase in the conveyor speed is also not possible. Another disadvantage of corrugated sheets is that cracking can occur on the bottom sheet.
The purpose of the present invention was to create a collecting channel which eliminates the disadvantages mentioned or largely eliminates the friction that occurs between the bottom sheet of paper and the sliding surface.
According to the invention, this purpose is achieved by means of generating an air cushion between the lowermost sheet of paper and the sliding surface.
The invention is explained, for example, on the basis of the accompanying schematic drawings. Show it :
FIG. 1 shows a cross section through a depositing station of a gathering machine and FIG
FIG. 2 shows a plan view of the collecting channel along the line II-II according to FIG. 1.
In FIG. 1, a stationary stand 1 has a horizontal surface 2 on which a stack of printed sheets 3 is placed. A rotatable gripper drum 4 is arranged below the print sheet stack 3, each of which with its gripper 5, in cooperation with suction elements 5a, grabs the lowest print sheet of the stack 3 after one revolution and places it on the support table 6 after half a revolution.
A collecting channel 7 is arranged under the support table 6, under which an endless conveyor chain 8 is arranged in such a way that its driving pins 9 reach through the collecting channel 7 on the upper run, in such a way that a printed sheet located on the supporting table 6 is removed from a driving pin 9 of the circulating chain 8 is pushed into the collecting channel 7. The collecting channel 7 has a vertical stop surface 7b and a polished sliding surface 7a inclined towards it. The collecting channel 7 is provided with a longitudinal slot that is parallel to the conveyor chain 8 and in which the driver pins 9 are guided.
In the part of the sliding surface 7a which lies opposite the soling surface 7b with respect to the driver pins 9, bores 10 open into an overpressure channel 11 with their ends opposite the sliding surface 7a. The overpressure channel 11 is formed by a profile rail 12 firmly connected to the collecting channel and connected to a compressed air source 14 via the line 13, the pressure prevailing in the overpressure channel 12 being able to be throttled by a slide 15 in the line 13. The air conveyed into the overpressure channel 11 by the compressed air source 14 flows through the bores 10.
If the bores 10 are covered by a printed sheet located on the sliding surface 7a, the outflowing air collides against its underside, whereby an air cushion is created between the printed sheet and the sliding surface 7a.
Fig. 2 shows a plan view of the collecting rail 7, the sliding surface 7a of which is formed by a polished sheet metal. As can be seen from this illustration, the bores 10 are arranged in the longitudinal direction of the collecting channel, the mutual distance preferably being at most 20 cm. In the embodiment shown here, two parallel rows of bores 10 are arranged in the longitudinal direction of the collecting channel. When using two rows of holes, the gage-side distance between the two rows is preferably 8 cm. The diameter of a hole is 2 mm.
It is obvious to the person skilled in the art to provide more than two rows of holes arranged parallel to one another in the longitudinal direction. The air pressure in the overpressure channel is preferably at least 0.1 atm.
