Coupling The present invention relates to a coupling in which a driving shaft driven by a rotational movement drives a driven shaft by means of rollers wedging between two integral inclined planes, one of the driving shaft, the other of the driven shaft.
The coupling according to the invention is characterized in that one of the planes is resiliently mounted so as to allow a progressive torque take-up, and to absorb the shocks and the torsional vibrations produced on starting and during operation. .
An embodiment of the object of the invention and variants will be described, by way of example, with reference to the appended drawing, to which: FIG. 1 is a view, part in cross section, part in exterior view, of the overrunning clutch. Fig. 2 is a partial view, also in cross section, but on an enlarged scale, of the coupling, showing one of the elements of the latter.
Fig. 3 is a section along III-III of FIG. 1. Figures 4 and 5 show an alternative embodiment with the rollers guided in a cage, which also fixes the angular position of the rocker.
The coupling comprises a hub 1, keyed on the driving shaft and driving an outer ring 2, made integral with the driven shaft.
The hub 1 has, regularly distributed over its circumference, a number of notches, in which are housed the wedging elements which are as follows Each notch receives a cradle 3 which has a milling with a cylindrical bottom 3 'and two side walls parallel plants 3 ".
In the milling of the cradle 3 is disposed a part 4 capable of moving by tilting in the spawning. This rocker 4 has a cylindrical lower face of the same radius as the cylindrical bottom 3 'of the milling of the cradle. The opposite face, or upper face 4 ', is flat and parallel to the generatrices of the rounding constituting the lower face. The flanks of the rocker form with the face 4 ′ determined, equal angles, such as a (of 800 for example). In the example chosen, the center of the flip flop is located in the plane of the face 4 ', but it could also be above or below this plane.
The rocker 4 can therefore oscillate in the cradle 3 and its face 4 'form at most an angle (3 limited (normally from 8 to 100) with the tangent to the internal diameter of the outer ring 2. The face 4' of the rocker constitutes then, for both directions of rotation, an internal jamming plane of a freewheel, with roller 6.
The cradle 3 slidably adjusted in the notch of the hub 1 rests internally by its two ends on two annular springs 5, the diameter of which is calculated so that the distance between the center of the lever 4 and the inner face of the ring 2 is smaller than the diameter of the roller 6. During assembly, the rollers must therefore be placed, as shown in particular in fig. 2, for the direction of the drive shaft, indicated by arrow F (fig. 1). Instead of annular springs, it is also possible to provide an independent spring for each cradle.
Flat springs 7 ensure the permanent contact of the rollers 6 between the lever 4 and the outer ring 2 in the extreme positions, so that the torque is taken instantaneously and simultaneously by all the rollers.
When the load increases, the roller 6 advances on the ramp formed by the face 4 'of the rocker 4, the ramp whose angle remains constant, compressing the spring 5. In the case of an overload applied to the shaft driven and exceeding the value for which the elements of the coupling are designed or adjusted, the ga-! and 6 exceeds the center of the rocker 4 by a certain amount; from then on, it reverses and the clutch is released.
It should be noted that the elastic mounting which also has the advantage of distributing the load uniformly on the rollers and furthermore makes the coupling insensitive to limited defects in concentration and direction between the hub 1 and the outer ring 2.
The flanks of the rocker 4 can form angles with its upper face which, instead of being equal, are different in order to obtain maximum disengagement torques that are different depending on the direction of rotation.
The stops retaining the rocker, instead of being constituted by the cradles 3, can be constituted by elements independent of the cradles, as shown by way of example in FIGS. 4 and 5. In this case, the rollers 6 are guided in a cage 9 surrounding the hub 1. The face of the lever, in contact with the roller, is formed by a curve. The angular position of the rocker is given by the variable point of contact 10 of the latter with the interior face of the cage and it follows that in all the positions of the roller, the jamming angle formed by the tangents to the diameter being inside the ring and the curvature of the rocker is constant.
Fig. 4 shows a roller 6 at the start of torque taking and FIG. 5 at the maximum load preceding the tilting which causes the disengagement.
