Device for connecting an apparatus, in particular a measuring apparatus and a support The present invention relates to a device for connecting an apparatus, in particular a measuring apparatus, and a support, the apparatus having at least one rib of shaped section. dovetail, the positive dis comprising a block having a shaped groove corresponding to this rib on which the block is able to slide,
a rod for fixing to the support and a screw-tightening member intended to allow the rod to be rigidly fixed to the block and simultaneously to block the latter at a given point on the rib.
Linking devices of the type indicated above are already known. However, in these known devices, the screw clamping member is formed, on the one hand, by a thread of the internal part of the rod and, on the other hand, by a threaded bore in the block. Therefore, it is the rod which must be driven in rotation in order to fix it rigidly in cooperation with the block on the rib of the device. Such an assembly therefore does not make it possible to modify the position of the device with respect to its support once the rod is fixed to this support.
Other known devices have a rod and a groove block formed in one piece, the block having a threaded part onto which is screwed a sleeve intended to fix the block on the rib of the device by direct support of the device. one end of the socket against the rib. Such a device has the drawback of marking or scratching the rib due to the angular displacement of the sleeve against the upper face thereof during tightening.
The connecting device according to the invention aims to remedy the drawbacks of the aforementioned known devices. It is characterized by the fact that the block has a bore with an axis perpendicular to its groove and blocking therein, the internal end of the rod or an intermediate part resting on this end, being engaged in this bore to come. lean against the rib,
this block also having an external thread onto which is screwed a sleeve having an internal shoulder intended to bear on a part of the upper section of the rod in order to clamp the latter or the intermediate part, against the rib independently of any movement angular of the rod around its axis.
The appended drawing represents, schematically and by way of example, two embodiments of the device according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is an axial sectional view of the device according to the first embodiment, of which FIG. 2 is a side elevational view.
Fig. 3 is an axial sectional view of the second embodiment, of which FIG. 4 is a side elevational view.
With reference to fig. 1 and 2, the connecting device is assumed to be mounted on a device 1, for example a measuring device such as a comparator, having at least one rib 2, the section of which is generally in the form of a dovetail. This connecting device comprises a block 3 having a groove 4 of shape corresponding to that of the section of the rib 2.
This block 3 is therefore capable of sliding on this nerve 2. This block 3 has a bore 5 with an axis perpendicular to the groove 4 and opening into the latter. This block 3 also has an external thread 6.
The connecting device further comprises a rod 7, the internal end 8 of which: is of cyndric shape, is engaged in the bore 5 of the block 3. This rod 7 has a bearing surface 9. On the external thread 6 of block 3 is screwed on a sleeve 10 having an internal shoulder 11. This internal shoulder 11 is intended to bear on the bearing surface 9 of the rod 7 to clamp the latter against the rib 2, independently of any angular movement of the rod. rod 7 around its axis.
It is indeed understood without further from the view of the drawing that the rotational drive of the sleeve 10 in the tightening direction causes the end 8 of the rod 7 to come closer to the upper face 12 of the rib 2 without causing any interference. marking of this face 12, due to the fact that no angular displacement is transmitted to the rod 7. Preferably, the rod 7 is made of hardened steel, while the sleeve 10 is of relatively soft metal, such as brass for example. It follows that a good coefficient of sliding exists between the surface 9 of hardened steel and the shoulder 1.1 of brass of the sleeve 10.
To facilitate the driving movement of this bush 10, the latter has on its periphery a molding 13 visible in FIG. 2.
It is understood without further that with such a connecting device even after the rod 7 has been engaged in the support of the device 1, support not shown, it is still possible to adjust the position of this rod 7 relative to the Apparatus 1, because the sleeve 10 is still accessible to allow this adjustment, the rod 7 not having to be rotated.
The second embodiment of the spinning device shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 comprises the same main elements, that is to say a block 3 having a groove 4 whose section corresponds to that of the rib 2 in the form of a dovetail of the device 1. The block 3 has also a bore 5 opening into the groove 4 and a thread 6 on which is screw- ser 1d sleeve 10. In this second form of e) execution, the rod 7 has a internal end in the form of a ring 14.
The shoulder 11 of the sleeve 10 has a firm adapted to this ball 14. Between the upper face 12 of the rib 2 and the ball 14 is disposed an anvil 15 freely engaged in the bore 5 of the block 3. This anvil 15 constitutes a part or intermediate piece between the rod 7, respectively its end in the form of a ball 14 and the upper face 12 of the rib 2. As in the first embodiment, the sleeve 10 has an external knurling 13 facilitating the tightening operation.
With this second form. In execution, it is not only possible to fix the rod 7 in various positions along the rib 2 of the apparatus 1, but it is also possible to give this rod 7 an orientation in different directions with respect to the rib 2, the sleeve 10 allowing the locking of the rod 7 in any of its positions. Indeed, during the tightening of the sleeve 10, the shoulder 11 by pressing on the ball 14 engages the latter against the anvil 15 which comes to bear, without performing a rotational movement, against the upper face 12 of the rib 2.
The reaction of the lips of the groove 4 of the block 3 against the inclined side faces d2 the rib 2 ensures the locking in position, along this rib 2, of the block 3, as well as of the rod 7. Preferably, the rod 7 and its ball joint 14 are made of hardened steel, while the sleeve 10 and the anvil 15 are made of relatively soft metal, such as brass for example. Thus, a low coefficient of friction is obtained, on the one hand, between the shoulder 11 and the ball 14 and, on the other hand, between this same ball 14 and the anvil 15.
The advantages of the connection device described above with reference to the drawing are therefore, on the one hand, that the fixing rod 7 can be maintained in the same plane or in the same angular position, whatever the tightening situation. along the rib 2 of the measuring device 1. On the other hand, due to the fact that no angular displacement of the rod 7 around its axis takes place during tightening, no risk of marking of the upper face 12 of the rib 2 of the apparatus 1 does not exist.
In addition, Figs. 3 and 4 show that with such a design of the connecting device, it is easy to provide a ball joint construction 14 which allows the orientation of the rod 7 in various directions while retaining the advantages listed above.
