Abstract

The invention relates to a nut for adjusting the useful length of a screw and to the method for manufacturing it. The nut is provided with an internal screw thread (14), the pitch of which corresponds to that of the threaded shank, and with a peripheral slit (18) passing through the nut through the entire thickness of its lateral wall and extending over a fraction of the periphery of the nut, thus defining two parallel semi-annular wings (20, 22), at least one of the said wings being permanently deformed in order to modify its distance with respect to the other wing.
