Support device on a ladder The invention relates to a support device on a ladder, which has a support which is tiltably mounted on the upper half of the ladder by means of a bearing.
A known embodiment of a ladder that can be set up freely, which is mainly used in fruit growing, has a support that supports the ladder at the upper end against the ground.
This support is firmly connected to the ladder. Since the support has a length that is longer than the Lei ter, it cannot be used as an ordinary leaning ladder. It is limited to a specific application purpose.
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a ladder support that can be mounted on any ordinary leaning ladder or extension ladder. This can then be used both as a leaning ladder and as a support ladder.
The invention is characterized in that the support has at least one support member, that furthermore the distance between the support member and the tilt axis of the bearing can be changed and that actuation means are available to move the support from the lower end of the ladder opposite the ladder tilt.
In the case of the support device according to the invention, it was assumed that the ladder cannot be supported against the floor, but rather on a branch or the trunk of a tree by means of a support with a support member. This gives you the advantage that you get by with a shorter support so that the ladder can be handled more comfortably. A ladder supported against the tree can also be set up better than one supported against the ground when space is tight. The support member consists, for example, of at least two spread apart rods, one of which is designed as a hook.
This training ensures that the fork-shaped support member pushed down by the weight of the prop's own weight does not slip off the branch. At the same time, the hook prevents the ladder from tipping backwards, so that it can be set up steeply without danger. In a further embodiment of the inven tion, an axle serving as a bearing carries in its central part a connecting piece in which the support is arranged displaceably in its longitudinal direction and can be locked with a locking device. This arrangement enables the ladder to be supported against support points at different distances.
Another solution is that the support is designed to be telescopic. In a further embodiment, a support member is arranged displaceably on the support and can be locked with a locking device.
A cord can be used as the actuating means for tilting the support about its tilting axis, which cord is attached to the part of the support that is extended beyond the bearing. A linkage can serve the same purpose as a further embodiment of the actuating means.
With the actuating means, the support is pivoted out until the support member has reached a suitable branch as a support point. Then the support member is anchored on the branch.
Depending on the radius of action, which is given by the length of the support, support points of different heights and distances can be reached.
In order to also use vertically standing branches or a trunk as a support point, a support member that can be rotated relative to the support can be attached. A rotation of 90 degrees of the support around its own axis in the connector could be used to adapt a rigidly connected support member to branches in different positions.
With the aid of the drawing, an exemplary embodiment is explained in more detail below: An axis 2 is arranged on a ladder above its top rung. This is designed as a connecting piece 5 in its middle part. This can be rotated in relation to the ladder. In terms of function, it is irrelevant whether the axis 2 is rotatable with respect to the ladder stiles or with respect to the connector 5 or with respect to both. The support 1 is arranged in the connector 5 slidably ver. By means of a pin 6 which is locked into the fastening holes of the support 1, the support is locked in the set position. The support member 3 is firmly connected to the support 1. It consists of two spread bars, one of which is designed as a hook.
By means of a cord 4 which is attached to the extended part of the support 1 beyond the storage, the support against the ladder is tilted ge.
