So ergeben z.

The monocarboxylic acids of the formula (5) used as starting materials here are either known or can be obtained by methods known per se (cf. Journ. Org. Chem., 21, 39 to 44 [1956]).
The functional derivatives of the monocarboxylic acids of the formula (5) include, for. B. esters with low molecular weight aliphatic alcohols into consideration, for example the methyl or ¯thyl ester, and especially the acid chlorides.
As further starting materials, o-amino compounds of the formula (6) can be used, specifically in the case of the imidazolyl-thiophene derivatives o-diamines or benzene or naphthalene series, one amino group of which is primary and the other amino group is at most secondary, e.g. . B. 2,3-diaminonaphthalene, 1, 2-diaminobenzene, 1-amino-2-monomethylaminobenzene, 1-methyl-3, 4-diaminobenzene, 3, 4-diamino-1,2-dimethylbenzene, 1-methoxy 3,4-diaminobenzene, isoropyl-o-phenylenediamine or 1-chloro-3, 4-diaminobenzene.
In the case of the oxazolyl-thiophane derivatives, for example, l-amine-2-oxynaphthalene, l-oxy-2-aminobenzene and l-oxy-2-aminomethylbenzenes such as 1-oxy-2-amino-4 or -5-methylbenzene, also l-amino-2-oxy-5-methoxybenzene, l-amino-2-oxy-5-tertiÏrbutyl-benzene, l-amino 2-oxy-5 = chlorobenzene, 1-amino-2-oxy-5-fluorobenzene and l-amino-2-oxy-4,5-dimethyl-benzene, and in the case of the thiazolyl-thiophene derivatives, for. The respective two starting materials, namely the o-amino compounds of the formula (6) given above and the monocarboxylic acid of the formula (5) or the functional derivatives of this monocarboxylic acid, are advantageously reacted with one another in at least approximately the theoretically correct quantitative ratio, d. H. 1 mole of an amino compound of the formula (6) or an amount deviating only slightly therefrom is used per mole of monocarboxylic acid. The implementation between the respective two components takes place z. B. by heating to higher temperatures, for example to about 90 to 260 C, optionally in an inert glass, e.g.
B. in a nitrogen stream. The reaction is preferably carried out in the presence of a catalyst. Suitable catalysts are, for. B. boric acid, sulfonic acids of the benzene series, such as p-toluenesulfonic acid, also polyphosphoric acids including pyrophosphoric acid and zinc chloride. The reaction is conducted in such a way that compounds of the formula (2) are formed immediately; H. that the acylation of the o-amino compounds and the ring closure to the azole ring concerned take place in one operation.
If boric acid is used as the catalyst, it is advantageously used in an amount of about 0.5 to 5 / o, based on the total weight of the reac tion mass, e. Inert organic, high-boiling solvents, e.g. B. substitution products of benzene, such as o-dichlorobenzene, trichlorobenzenes or higher-boiling hydrocarbons of the benzene series, such as xylenes or p-cymene, or in particular high-boiling polar organic solvents, such as dimethylfcrmamid and aliphatic, optionally etherified oxy compounds, e.g. B. propylene glycol, ethylene glycol monoethyl ether or diethylene glycol diethyl ether, can also be used.
The azolyl-thiophene derivatives d general formula (2) can also be obtained by simply melting the two starting materials together in a zinc chloride melt or in the presence of boric acid.
The reaction of the o-diamino compounds with the McnocarbonsÏure of the formula (5) or the functional derivative of this monocarboxylic acid to imidazolyl thicphene derivatives of the general formula (2) can also be advantageous by heating the two starting materials in aqueous mineral acids such as hydrochloric acid or Phosphoric acid, and especially in aqueous Schwafel- sÏure, to higher temperatures, z. B. to about 90 to 110 ° C.
After the reaction has taken place, the azolylthiophene derivatives of the general formula (2) can be isolated from the roactlon mixture in a manner known per se.
In imidazolyl-thiophlene derivatives of the formula (2), in which X is an imide group -NH-, the hydrogen atom of this group can, if desired, be replaced by the substituents already mentioned by adding these compounds to alkylating, alkenylating de. n, oxyalkylating, cyanoalkylating, acylating or aralkylating people treated. The azolyl-thiophene derivatives can also be sulfonated.
According to the invention, the new azolyl-thiophene derivatives of the formula (2) can be used as optical brighteners for non-textile organic materials, e.g. B. of various kinds, such as for plastic compounds, resins, lacquers and fiber materials are used. Good results are, for example, when lightening polyolefins, such as. B. polyethylene or polypropylene, acetyl cellulose and alkyd resin paints or r nitrocellulose paints. Above all, the new azolyl-thiophene derivatives prove to be valuable for the lightening of synthetic polycondensation or polymerization products. So z.

Optionally, e.g. B. if the new compounds can not easily be brought into fine and uniform distribution, dispersants can be used, z. B.
Soaps, polyglycol ethers of fatty alcohols, fatty amines or alkylated Pbsnolon, cellulose sulphite waste liquor or condensation products of optionally alkylated naphthalenesulphonic acids with formaldehyde.
The novel azolyl thiophene derivatives to be used according to the invention can furthermore be added to or incorporated into the organic materials before or during their shaping. For example, they can be added to the molding compound in the production of films, foils, tapes or moldings, or dissolved or finely distributed in the spinning compound prior to spinning. The new thiobene derivatives of the formula given can also be used before or during the polycondensation to form polyesters or polyamides or before or during the polymerization of monomers, such as. B. acrylonitrile or vinyl chloride, are added to the reaction mixtures.
The amount of the new azolyl-thiophene derivatives to be used, based on the material to be optically brightened, can vary within wide limits. Even with very small amounts, in certain cases e.g. B. those of 0.01%, a clear and durable brightening effect can be achieved. Amounts of more than 3% generally do not prove to be disadvantageous, but also offer no advantages over the normal amounts.

EXAMPLE 1 An intimate mixture of 100 parts of polyvinyl chloride, 2 parts of titanium dioxide, 54 parts by volume of dioctyl phthalate and 0.2 parts of one of the compounds of formulas (8), (9) and (10) is applied on a calender at 140 to 150¯ C rolled out into a r Felie.
The opal polyvinyl chloride films obtained in this way have a significantly higher whiteness than the foils which do not contain the thiophene derivatives.
Example 2
A 15% solution of polyacrylonitrile in dimethylformamide, which, calculated on polyacrylonitrile, contains 0.1% of the compound of formula (1) or formula (7) in solution, forms a film 0.5 mm thick produced, which is dried at 120 C for 15 minutes. The film obtained in this way shows a clear lightening effect.
Example 3 100 Te, polyester granules made from PolyterephthalsÏureÏthylenglykolester are intimately mixed with 1 part of titanium dioxide and 0.05 to 0.1 part of one of the compounds of the formulas (8) to (11) and melted at 285 C with stirring. After the spinning mass has been spun out using conventional spinning fibers, heavily lightened polyester fibers are obtained.
Example 4
10,000 parts of a polyamide prepared in a known manner from hexamethylenediamine adipate are mixed with 30 parts of titanium dioxide (rutile modification) and 10 parts of the compound of formula (8) in a roller vessel for 12 hours. The chips treated in this way are melted in a kettle heated to 300 to 310 C with oil or diphenyl vapor, after the atmospheric oxygen has been displaced by superheated steam, and stirred for half an hour.
The melt is then squeezed out through a spinneret under stick pressure of 5 atmospheres and the cooled filament spun in this way is wound onto a spinning bobbin. The resulting threads show an excellent heat-setting-resistant hay effect of good washing and lightness. dignity.
If one of the compounds of the formulas (9) and (10), sc, is used instead of the compound of the formula (8), similar lightening effects are obtained.
