in which Y has the meaning given above, is implemented according to the following scheme:
EMI0004.0019
then the alkyl ester group is again saponified to give the carboxyl group and this is optionally converted into a carboxylic acid halide group, in particular into the carboxylic acid chloride group, and the compound of the formula thus obtained

wherein R "represents the hydroxyl group or a halogen atom, in particular a chlorine atom, and B, Y and Z have the meaning given above, with a third o-amino compound of the formula
EMI0004.0029
where A and X have the meaning given above, are implemented according to the following scheme:
EMI0005.0000
wherein A, B, X, Y and Z have the meaning given above.
The implementation between the respective compo nents of the formulas (14) and (15), (18) and (19) as well as (22) and (23) can with or without intermediate deposition of the first amides of the formulas (16) respectively . (20) and (24) by heating to higher temperatures, for example to 120 to 350 C, advantageously in an inert gas, e.g. B. a stream of nitrogen, the reaction, if necessary, in the presence of a catalyst, Runaway leads. Suitable catalysts are, for. B. boric acid, boric anhydride, zinc chloride, p-toluenesulfonic acid, and polyphosphoric acids, including pyro-. phosphoric acid.
If boric acid is used as a catalyst, it is advantageously used in an amount of 0.5 to 5%, based on the total weight of the reaction mass. It is also possible to use high-boiling, polar, organic solvents, such as, for example, dimethylformamide, dichlorobenzene, trichlorobenzene, and aliphatic, optionally etherified oxy compounds, eg. B. propylene glycol, ethylene glycol monoethyl ether or diethylene glycol diethyl ether and high-boiling esters of phthalic acid, such as. B. phthalic acid dibutyl ester can also be used.
However, it is preferably carried out in two stages by first converting the carboxylic acid halides and in particular the carboxylic acid chlorides of formulas (15), (18) and (22) with the o-amino compounds of formulas (14), respectively. (19) and (23) in the presence of an organic solvent, such as toluene, xylenes, chlorobenzene, dichlorobenzene, trichlorobenzene or nitrobenzene, condensed at temperatures between 100 and 200 C and the acyl compounds of the formulas (16) obtained, respectively. (20) and (24) are converted into the azole derivatives at temperatures between 150 and 350 ° C., if appropriate in the presence of a catalyst.
If carboxylic acid chlorides are used as starting materials, they can be prepared immediately before the condensation with the o-amino compound and without separation from the free carboxylic acid and thionyl chloride, optionally with the addition of a catalyst such as pyridine, in the solvent in which the condensation takes place afterwards .
The benzoxazolyl compound of the formula (5), in which R8 to R11 have the meaning given above, and R8 are Rio and Rs are R11, can be prepared according to the reaction conditions described, for example, according to the following scheme:

The compounds of the formula (1) obtained by the process described can, if desired, be further reacted to give compounds which likewise come under the scope of the formula (1). Water-soluble derivatives are thus obtained when compounds of formula (1) are sulfonated, one or more primary or secondary amino groups of compounds according to formula (1) are converted into the corresponding alkylsulfonic acid derivatives, with aldehyde bisulfone compounds into the corresponding o-methanesulfone - Acid derivatives converted, with alkyl or aralkyl sulfonic acids,
introduces a polyalkylene ether chain long enough for water solubility into one or more hydroxyl groups with alkylene oxides or with polyalkylene ether monohalides, one or more groups capable of quaternizing with quaternizing agents under heat, optionally under pressure, or one or more haloalkyl groups with tertiary ones Bases converted into the corresponding quaternary derivatives.
The new compounds of the composition described above have a more or less pronounced fluorescence in a dissolved or finely divided state. You can go to the optical. Can be used on bright the most diverse organic materials outside of the textile industry. Good results are, for example, when lightening epoxy resins, aldehyde resins such as phenol, urea or aminotriazine-formaldehyde condensation products, also acrylic resin varnishes, alkyl resin varnishes, cellulose ester varnishes, eg. B. acetyl cellulose lacquers, or nitrocellulose lacquers achieved. In particular, the new optical brightening agents for the optical brightening of films, foils, tapes or moldings, for example made of cellulose esters, polyamides (e.g.
Nylon), polyesters, polyolefins such as polyethylene or polypropylene, polyurethanes, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride, polyvinyl alcohol or polyvinyl esters of organic acids such. B. polyvinyl acetate, or other pro products that are obtainable by polycondensation or homo- or copolymerization, or finally sol chen made of regenerated cellulose, suitable.
The treatment of the aforementioned substrates for the purpose of optical brightening can take place in an aqueous medium, in which the relevant optical brightening agents are suspended. Optionally, dispersants can be added in the treatment, such as. B. soaps, polyglycol ethers of fatty alcohols; Fatty amines or alkylphenols, cellulose sulfite waste liquor or condensation products of optionally alkylated naphthalenesulfonic acids with formaldehyde. It proves to be particularly useful to work in a neutral, weakly alkaline or acidic bath.
It is also advantageous if the treatment is carried out at elevated temperatures of about 50 to 100 ° C., for example at the boiling point of the bath or in its vicinity (about 90 ° C.). Solutions in organic solvents are also suitable for the refinement according to the invention. The to be used according to the invention. New optical brighteners can also be added or incorporated into the materials before or during their deformation.
They can be added to the molding compound in the production of films, foils, tapes or moldings. or dissolve or distribute finely in a spinning mass before spinning. The new on brighter can also before or during the polycondensation to z. B. polyamides or especially poly esters the reaction mixtures or before or during the polymerization of monomers such. B. vinyl acetate or styrene, are added to the polymer compositions.
The new brightening agents are characterized by particularly good heat resistance, lightfastness and resistance to migration.
The amount of the optical brightening agents to be used according to the invention, based on the material to be optically brightened, can vary within wide limits. Even with very small amounts, in certain cases e.g. 0.005%, a clear and long-lasting effect can be achieved. It can, however, also be used in quantities of up to about 0.5% and more.
The new compounds serving as optical brightening agents can also be used as follows: a) As a mixture with dyes or pigments or, for example, in the production of fluorescent colored films or moldings.
b) In mixtures with so-called carriers, antioxidants, light stabilizers, heat stabilizers, chemical bleaching agents or as an additive to bleaching baths outside the textile industry. c) In combination with detergents (outside the textile industry). The detergents and brightening agents can be added separately to the washing baths to be used. It is also advantageous to use detergents that contain the brightening agents when mixed. Suitable detergents are for example soaps, salts of sulfonate detergents, such as.
B. of sulfonated benzimidazoles substituted on the 2-carbon atom by higher alkyl radicals, also salts of monocarboxylic acid esters of 4-sulfophthalic acid with higher fatty alcohols, furthermore salts of fatty alcohol sulfonates, alkyl aryl sulfonic acids or condensation products of higher fatty acids with aliphatic oxy or amino sulfonic acids. Furthermore, ion-free detergents can be used, e.g. B. polyglycol ethers, which are derived from ethylene oxide and higher fatty alcohols, alkylphenols or fatty amines.
d) In combination with polymeric carrier materials (coating agents, e.g. for paper).
e) In combination with other optical brightening agents for the purpose of. Change of nuances.
If the present method is combined with other treatment or refinement methods, the combined treatment is advantageously carried out with the aid of suitable preparations. These stable preparations are characterized in that they contain compounds of the formulas given at the beginning as well as dispersants, detergents, carriers, dyes, pigments and the like. a. contain.
