Fig. 2 eine Draufsicht.
Device for the treatment of drinking water
The subject of the invention is an improvement of the device for treating water according to the main patent. In this regard, water containers provided with a prefilter have already been proposed, a filter candle made of diatomaceous earth lying within a fine-grain, pourable filtering and cleaning compound. The water to be treated first comes into contact with the filtering and cleaning compound, which consists of a special activated carbon bonded with silver, which can contain certain additives. The water then reaches the filter candle under pressure, penetrates it and drains out in a treated state.
The water from lakes, rivers, ponds, streams and rainwater and snowmelt water treated with the device described above has been sufficiently treated, but has a bluish sheen, which is perceived by users as very annoying.
In addition to the ready-to-drink preparation of water, the further developed device according to the invention now also wants to improve the appearance, i.e. H. give it a neutral color tone, which is identical to spring water. It is characterized in that the granular, pourable filter is arranged within a cavity of the solid filter, the latter being a cartridge made of diatomaceous earth, with a pump connected to the water container to generate an overpressure that allows the water to flow through the filter cartridge communicating with the adjustable outlet causes.
In the drawing, an example embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown, and it shows:
Fig. 1 is a section through a portable filter device and
Fig. 2 is a plan view.
1 denotes a container made of plastic or metal, which is provided with handle 2 and filler neck 3 and outlet neck 3 'just above the floor.
A locking nut 5, which is connected to the container 1 by a flexible securing band 6, is screwed onto an external thread 4 of the filler neck 3 in a tightly lockable manner. 9 is a cylindrical coarse sieve with a mesh size of about 1 mm, which can be easily replaced for cleaning, which rests with a flanged fitting edge 10 on the mouth edge of the filler neck 3 and is clamped between this and the mouth edge by the tightly tightened lock nut 5. By the coarse sieve 9, the coarser dirt particles are retained when water is filled through the filler neck 3.
An outlet nut 11 provided with an external thread 12 is screwed into an internal thread of the container 1 in the outlet connection 3 'of the container 1. The latter has a threaded bore 14 which is open on the outside and into which an outlet connection 13 is screwed. The outlet nut 11 also has a bearing bore 16 which is open on the inside and into which a filter cartridge 15 made of diatomaceous earth is inserted.
The filter cartridge is thin-walled and has a wide cavity 19 which is many times larger than the wall. When the water penetrates from the outside to the inside, the filter cartridge 15 effects fine filtration and disinfection, as a result of the many fine microscopic grooves, niches, channels and depressions in the diatomaceous earth where the bacteria get caught. On its end facing the outlet nozzle 13, the filter cartridge 15 is closed by the fixed end wall 15 'and on the opposite end by a removable plug 15 ". The outlet nozzle 13 carries an easily removable cap 17 on its mouth part, which is secured against loss by a flexible securing band 18 is connected to the outlet nozzle 13.
The cavity 19 of the filter cartridge 15 is coated with a powdery or fine-grained (grain size expediently less than 2 mm) active ingredient 20 made of silver-bonded activated charcoal along with others that influence the water, e.g. B. filled with plasticizing additives. The active ingredient 20 is not compact, but rather loosely stored in the cavity 19, so that when the container is shaken
11 is poured over.
When using the device described, the dirty or odorous water is poured in through the filler neck 3 after removing the locking nut 5. After a pre-filtration, the filled water reaches the filter cartridge through the coarse sieve 9
15 and penetrates this when the outlet nozzle 13 is opened. The existing foreign particles and the bacteria in the water are retained by the filter cartridge 15. When the water subsequently passes through the active substance 20, the purification of the water is achieved. After leaving the active ingredient 20, the water passes through the end wall 15 'of the filter cartridge 15, with another filtration taking place.
Finally, the treated water reaches the outside through the outlet 13 and is prepared ready for use as cooking or drinking water.
With normally dirty water, the active ingredient 20 is sufficient for the treatment of about 100 liters of water. The filter cartridge 15 must also be cleaned from time to time in order to maintain the good filtering and sterilizing effect. As soon as the outflow of the treated water from the nozzle 13 is too slow, this is an indication that the active substance 20 or the filter cartridge 15 must be replaced.
21 is a flexible line which, at its free end, has a pump balloon 22 which is provided with two conventional valves 23, 24 working together. The line 21 is removably connected to the pipe connection 26 firmly connected to the container 1 by a screw connection 25.
After the active substance 20 has been filled into the cartridge 15, the device described is used as follows: The contaminated and highly odorous water to be treated is brought into the container 1 through the filler neck 3. The water passes through the coarse sieve 9 before it gets into the interior of the container 1. Air is then conveyed into the container 1 by the pump balloon 22 and an overpressure is generated.
The container 1 is then shaken, and then the outlet nozzle 13 is opened. As a result of the action of pressure, the water in the container 1 penetrates the circumferential wall of the fixed filter cartridge 15 and is finely filtered and sterilized in the process. The water then reaches the active ingredient 20 and seeps through the same, with a cleaning effect taking place, as is known when water comes into contact with activated charcoal and the added additional active ingredient. The water treated in this way then penetrates the end wall 15 'from the inside to the outside and is again finely filtered and sterilized by the latter. The overpressure in the container 1 ensures that the water flows through the filter cartridge, the active ingredient and the end wall 15 'relatively quickly.
Since the overpressure is at least 1 Atü, it has a promoting effect on the water flow until it emerges from the open nozzle 13.
The water flowing out of the nozzle 13 is treated so that it can be used as service and drinking water.
The active ingredient 20 could also contain water-softening additives.
The device described can be formed not only from metal or plastic, but also from a combination of these materials. It goes without saying that one could arrange another suitable regulating element such as a rotary valve, a tilt valve, a slide valve or similar shut-off valves on the outlet nozzle 13. The size of the device is adapted to the intended use, and the water content of the container is limited to one to several liters for personal use, so that it can be carried along with the travel, tour, military effects etc. without taking up too much space.
