EMI0002.0041
besteht, in 300 Teilen Eisessig zugefügt.

Process for the production of water-insoluble azo dyes The invention relates to a process for the production of new water-insoluble azo dyes, for coloring plastic compositions, which are to be understood as meaning solution-free and solvent-containing compositions made of plastics. They are characterized by their excellent solubility in acetone and, in some cases, in other organic solvents. Individual dyes also draw on cellulose ester fibers, on synthetic polyamide fibers (e.g.
Nylon, perlon, registered trademark) and on polyvinyl fibers, terephthalic acid ester fibers (e.g. terylene, dacron, registered trademark), preferably in the presence of dispersing compounds and at elevated temperatures.
Some of the new dyes are also suitable for coloring oils and synthetic resins. Some dyes also stain wool and natural silk.
The yellow-orange to violet dyeings on the above fibers obtained from suspension are distinguished by excellent fastness to washing, seawater, sublimation, perspiration, ironing, thermosetting and smoke gas. The lightfastness of the dyeing on polyamide fibers is good, that on the other fibers is very good to excellent.
The spin dyeings have good to very good light, water, washing, perspiration, over-dyeing, alkaline chlorine, sublimation, oxalic acid, dry cleaning, flue gas, rubbing, ironing, peroxide bleaching and Thermosetting fastness. The new water-insoluble azo dyes correspond to the formula
EMI0001.0029
where x is hydrogen, halogen, methyl, ethyl, methoxy or ethoxy, y is hydrogen, halogen, methyl,
Ethyl, trifluoromethyl, methoxy, ethoxy or an alkanoylamino radical with a maximum of 18 carbon atoms, R1 an alkylene radical optionally interrupted by one or more oxygen atoms, R2 an alkylene radical interrupted by at least one oxygen atom, R3 an aliphatic radical free of acidic water-soluble groups,
cycloaliphatic or aromatic radical, V the imino group or a simple CC bond, m the number 1 or 2, M when m stands for the number 1, hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy, methoxy, ethoxy, difluoromethyl, trifluoromethyl, cyano a carbalkoxy radical or
EMI0001.0062
where the symbols R3 and V have the meanings given above, or,
when m is the number 2, a single bond and R4 is a mono- or bicyclic aromatic or heterocyclic radical which is free from groups which make solubility. The process according to the invention consists in mixing m moles of a diazo compound free of acidic water-insolubilizing groups with 1 mole of a tertiary amine of the formula
EMI0002.0004
wherein x, y, R1, R2, R3, M, V and m have the meanings given above, couples.
As diazo compounds free of water-solubilizing groups are in particular aminobenzenes, aminothiophenes, aminothiazoles, aminothiodiazoles, substituted by nitro groups, acyl groups, halogen atoms, cyano groups and / or alkylsulfonyl or alkyl, sulfamide groups.
or aminobenzothiazoles are suitable. The coupling of the diazo compound with the azo component takes place in an acidic medium, which may be buffered.
In the examples below, parts are parts by weight and percentages are percentages by weight; the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius and the melting points are uncorrected. Example 1 12.8 parts of 2-aminobenzothiazole-6-sulfonic acid dimethylamide with a melting point of 230 are dissolved in 50 parts of 85% phosphoric acid at 20. The mass obtained is cooled to 5 and 3.8 parts of sodium nitrite are introduced over the course of one hour. The diazotization occurs quickly.
Despite thorough stirring, the resulting pulp becomes viscous; it is conveniently diluted with 40 parts of glacial acetic acid. When the diazotization is complete, the mass becomes a solution of 25.5 parts of a technical mixture, which mainly consists of the tertiary amine of the formula
EMI0002.0041
consists, added in 300 parts of glacial acetic acid. The formation of color will soon take place and can be accelerated by adding sodium acetate. After coupling has ended, the reaction mass is discharged into 500 parts of water.
The resulting new dye is filtered off, washed neutral with water and dried. The water-insoluble mono azo dye dissolves in organic solvents with a bright red color and has an acetone solubility of more than 100 g / liter at 25 and corresponds to the presumable formula:
EMI0002.0054
The tertiary amine used in this example is new and is produced as follows:
431 parts of 2-chloro-1 (N, N-dihydroxyethylamino) -benzene with a melting point of 87 are placed in a sealed stainless steel vessel and reacted at 140-160 in the presence of 2 parts of finely powdered potassium hydroxide with 92 parts of ethylene oxide. The viscous product obtained is then condensed at 80-100 with 484 parts of phenyl isocyanate.
Both conversions are practically quantitative and the product obtained consists mainly of the compound of the formula:
EMI0002.0061
To dye acetate rayon in bulk, proceed as follows:
100 parts of acetyl cellulose are mixed in 300 parts of a solvent mixture of 93% acetone and 7% methanol. The mass is mixed for a short time and left to swell overnight. 0.5 parts of the monoazo dye obtainable according to the above example are dissolved in 85 parts of the same solvent mixture by simply shaking.
The solution of the acetyl cellulose solution is added and the mixture is stirred in an open vessel until 60 parts of the solvent have evaporated. The colored mass is pressed into the spinning pot and spun in the usual way.
The threads obtained are colored red; the dyeings have high light, washing, over-dyeing, alkaline exposure, flue gas, oxalic acid, dry cleaning and peroxide bleaching fastnesses. Also sea water, sweat, water, soap bath, rub -, decatur and ironing fastness are excellent.
The following table describes other valuable monoazo dyes which are obtained in Example 1 by suitable replacement of the diazo and azo components. They correspond to the general formula
EMI0003.0012
and are identified in the table by the symbols R.4, R5, R6 and y as well as by the color of their colorations in acetyl cellulose.
