Le dessin annexé représente, à titre d'exemple une forme d'exécution du tour objet de la présente invention. Dans ce dessin schématique on a omis beaucoup d'éléments qui ne sont pas nécessaires à la compréhension de l'invention. La fig. 1 est une vue de côté, partie en coupe suivant la ligne I-I de la fig. 2 ; la fig. 2 est une vue en élévation avec coupe par tielle du canon ; la fig. 3 est une coupe longitudinale du canon à échelle agrandie, le canon étant montré dans sa po sition fermée;
L'alésage cen tral de ce corps 6 est étagé ; il sert à la fois au gui dage d'une partie 8a non fendue d'un canon 8 du type dit ouvrable et d'un manchon 9 fixé sur l'ex trémité postérieure ,de ce canon par vissage, l'extré mité postérieure de l'alésage central du corps 6 s'ou vre en cône vers l'avant et sert de surface d'appui aux surfaces conformées que présentent les segments 8b du canon ; si le canon 8 est coulissé vers l'avant au moyen du manchon 9, ses segments 8b s'ouvrent grâce à leur élasticité, comme on l'a montré à la fig. 3a ;
dans sa position reculée montrée à la fig. 3 et capable d'être réglée au moyen de vis 10 qui pren nent dans des trous taraudés borgnes 11 du corps 6 et contre la tête desquelles le flasque 9a du manchon 9 vient buter, les segments 8b sont plus ou moins ser- rés à leur extrémité antérieure sur la barre de matière M sans toutefois empêcher cette dernière de glisser lorsqu'elle doit être avancée ;
Automatic lathe In known automatic sliding headstock lathes there is usually a guide bush for the material bar. In some of these known automatic towers, an openable barrel is provided, the size of the passage opening of this barrel being adjustable so that it can adapt to variations in the thickness of the bar. It is moreover also known to provide a mechanism which can be actuated by hand to open such a barrel or a mechanism which is actuated automatically from the tailstock to cause the barrel to open for each advancement of the bar.
The present invention relates to an automatic lathe in which the barrel is axially movable in an axially fixed body and is integral with a sleeve provided with a flange which abuts under the action of at least one opening spring. on at least one screw carried by the body and which allows the adjustment of the axial position .du closed barrel.
According to the invention, the opening mechanism comprises a rotating and axially movable sleeve on the rear part of the body to produce the opening and closing of the barrel by means of the sleeve, this sleeve also being mounted on said sleeve. body by a bayonet assembly serving on the one hand to print on the sleeve performing a rotary movement in an axial movement and, on the other hand, to facilitate the removal of the latter, for example if it is desired to replace the barrel openable by an elastic barrel, adjustable or not.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the lathe which is the subject of the present invention. In this schematic drawing, many elements which are not necessary for an understanding of the invention have been omitted. Fig. 1 is a side view, partly in section along the line I-I of FIG. 2; fig. 2 is an elevational view with partial section of the barrel; fig. 3 is a longitudinal section of the barrel on an enlarged scale, the barrel being shown in its closed position;
fig. 3a shows the anterior end of the barrel in its open position, and fig. 4 shows a development of the peripheral surface of a sleeve serving to actuate the barrel, and certain elements with which this sleeve cooperates.
On a bench 1 of the automatic lathe are fixed a fixed headstock 2 serving for the journaling of a spindle 3 serving to drive the material bar M in rotation, as well as a support 5 provided with a coaxial random 5a to the spindle 3. A body 6 is fixed by its middle part in this bore and carries a threaded ring 7 for its axial fixing.
The central bore of this body 6 is stepped; it serves both for the guiding of an unsplit part 8a of a barrel 8 of the so-called openable type and of a sleeve 9 fixed on the rear end, of this barrel by screwing, the posterior end of the central bore of the body 6 opens in a cone towards the front and serves as a bearing surface for the shaped surfaces presented by the segments 8b of the barrel; if the barrel 8 is slid forward by means of the sleeve 9, its segments 8b open thanks to their elasticity, as has been shown in FIG. 3a;
in its retracted position shown in FIG. 3 and capable of being adjusted by means of screws 10 which engage in threaded blind holes 11 of the body 6 and against the head of which the flange 9a of the sleeve 9 abuts, the segments 8b are more or less tightened. front end on the material bar M without however preventing the latter from sliding when it has to be advanced;
the friction between the bar and the segments 8b can, in fact, cause a slight temporary advance of the barrel 8 and of the sleeve 9 against the resistance of some spells 11 placed in blind holes 12 which alternate with the threaded holes 6a, these springs acting on the flange 9a by means of pistons 13.
The body 6 also has two threaded blind holes 14 placed on a common diameter, in which are fixed studs 15. An actuating sleeve 16 is carried by the rear part of the body 6 to be axially movable and in rotation.
It has: two entries 17 placed symmetrically with respect to its longitudinal axis and by which it engages with the studs 15; these entries have the form shown in fig. 4, their part 17a therefore being slightly inclined against a transverse plane so that rotation of the sleeve 16 causes it to slide; during a forward sliding the sleeve 16 acts by its flange 16a on the flange 9a of the body sleeve 9 with the barrel 8 which is thus open. The sleeve 16 mounted on the body 6 by a bayonet assembly as just described, can easily be removed as soon as the rod 18 which connects it to an actuating lever 19, is no longer articulated on the pivot 20 permanently fixed on the socket 16.
It should be mentioned that the slope of the inclined parts 17a of the inlets 17 is sufficiently low to ensure irreversibility, that is to say to prevent the springs 11 from causing the sleeve 16 to retract.
The bayonet assembly could be modified in the sense that the studs 15 could be fixed to the socket while grooves similar to the inlets 17 would be made in the body 6.
