ID="0004.0200"> 5.
Apparatus for the fractional distribution of a liquid or powder product The present invention relates to an apparatus for the fractional distribution of a liquid or powder product. In the case of a liquid, this device allows the spraying of the liquid.
Vaporizers are already known comprising an outer container containing the active product to be dispensed, an inner tank containing a pressurized propellant gas, a cap closing the outer container and holding the inner tank in place, this cap comprising a push-button for the release. control of the exhaust of the thruster and supporting a tube which plunges into the active product of which it supplies an ejection nozzle.
When the pushbutton is pressed, the valve is turned on or off. The propellant gas vaporizes and by escaping through the nozzle it causes a vacuum which sucks the liquid to be sprayed through the dip tube. This liquid is dispersed in fine droplets and projected out by the gas stream.
The advantage of such a device is that it allows a complete and permanent separation of the product to be vaporized and the propellant, these two products only being brought together for a very short time interval at the precise moment of the spraying. spray. The drawbacks encountered in aerosol bombs resulting from incompatibilities between the liquefied propellant and the active product to be sprayed are thus remedied.
However, such a device has the drawback of not allowing a tight closure of the outer container containing the active product, which can thus leak or evaporate and deteriorate.
To remedy this drawback, it has been proposed to mount a sealed shutter on the head of the sprayer, closing the outlet orifice of the spray nozzle. However, such a device is complicated to make and handle.
Various vaporizers are also known comprising a triple shutter controlled centrally by push-button; however, known apparatuses of this kind are also complicated and difficult to handle systems.
The purpose of the dispensing apparatus according to the invention is to overcome the drawbacks of the devices known hitherto.
This device for the fractional distribution of a liquid or pulverulent product comprises an outer container containing the active product to be dispensed, an inner tank containing a propellant gas under pressure, a cap closing the outer container and holding the inner tank in place,
this plug comprising a push-button for controlling the exhaust of the thruster and supporting a tube immersed in the product from which it feeds an ejection nozzle.
The apparatus according to the invention -is characterized in that the push-button comprises a rod slidably mounted in the stopper and which penetrates into the propellant tank, passing through an annular seal interposed between the stopper and this tank, this seal belonging to a high pressure shutter which controls the admission of the propellant into a channel of the sliding rod leading to the ejection nozzle, this rod also controlling two interposed low pressure shutters,
one between the dip tube and the ejection nozzle and the other between the receptacle containing the active product and the external atmosphere.
Preferably, the container containing the active product and the reservoir containing the propellant are coaxial and the rod of the push-button is slidably mounted along the common axis of the two containers.
According to an advantageous arrangement of the apparatus, the wall of the channel formed in the rod of the push-button is pierced with an orifice which, at rest,
is closed by the high prossion shutter seal. It is furthermore advantageously provided that the head of the control push-button contains the ejection nozzle while the hollow rod carried by this head comprises, in addition to the channel for the vaporized propellant,
a second conduit ensuring the supply to the nozzle of the active product and a third conduit for placing the container in communication with the atmosphere during the actuation.
Various embodiments are provided, it being understood that the sliding hollow rod of the push button always constitutes one of the elements of the high pressure shutter of the propellant tank, the other element of which comprises a flexible annular seal. , static or dynamic.
In a favorable arrangement of the apparatus ,. the hollow rod of the pushbutton passes through a bowl formed in the plug and situated between the spray nozzle and the propellant reservoir. This cuvette is in communication with the tube immersed in the active product and it is separated from the external atmosphere sphere by an annular seal surrounding the hollow rod.
Another annular seal is interposed between the atmosphere and a duct of the stopper allowing air to enter the container.
In the active position, the internal channel of the hollow rod, with a diameter sufficient to allow a first expansion of the thruster, is in communication with the reservoir containing the latter, a second duct of the hollow rod which serves the orifice of spray from the ejection nozzle enters the bowl,
and a third duct, preferably a groove formed on the outer surface of the rod, places the air inlet duct of the plug in connection with the external atmosphere.
The accompanying drawing illustrates, by way of examples, various embodiments of the apparatus which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a view in. elevation with partial diametral section of an embodiment of the apparatus.
Fig. 2 is a diametral section ô. larger scale of its upper part, in rest position. Fig. 3 is a partial view similar to FIG. 2, in working position.
Figs. 4, 5 ct 6 are views .Analogues to FIG. 2 showing, in the rest position, an apparatus whose propellant tank has various forms of high pressure shutters.
Fig. 7 is a view similar to: 1a FIG. 2 of another version of the apparatus, where the spraying takes place axially.
Fig. 8 shows the same device at work. It will be assumed that the active product is liquid. In this case, the fractional distribution of this liquid consists of its: spraying in the form of very fine droplets with a view to producing a mist which may be comparable in its fineness to those produced by conventional aerosol cans.
In the embodiment considered, the apparatus comprises an outer plastic container 1 containing the liquid active product 2 to be sprayed.
The .recipient 1 is terminated by a neck 3 which is closed by a massive stopper 4. The latter carries the reservoir 5 containing the propellant 10, liquefied gas, the kinetic energy of which, in the event of escape, sprays of liquid 2. The propellant can be constituted by a gas with high vapor pressure such as carbon dioxide, chlorofluorinated hydrocarbons, such as dichlorodifluoromethane, propane, etc.
The reservoir 5 can be made of thick glass or of a light alloy. In the first case, the container is of large diameter and low in height, in order to limit the bending forces at the point of attachment. In the second case; Rather, a small-diameter container 5 is chosen extending over the entire available height of the container 1.
On the face of the stopper 4 facing the receptacle 1, there is a recess 6 intended to receive the neck 7 of the reservoir 5. At the bottom of the recess 6 is formed an annular frame 8 with a projecting rim 9 intended to accommodate itself. fit by elastic deformation around a rim 11 of the neck 7.
On the cap 4 is slidably mounted the push-button 12 provided for the centralized control of the high-pressure shutter of the reservoir 5 and of the low-pressure shutters-intended respectively to control the outlet of the liquid 2 and the inlet of the liquid. air in container 1.
The push-button 12 comprises for this purpose a rod 13 which slides along the axis A-A common to the container 1 and to the reservoir 5.
The rod 13 is pierced with an axial channel 14 which extends between a lower transverse orifice 15 and the ejection nozzle 16 mounted in the swelling head 17 of the push button 12.
The base of the rod 13 tightly passes through a flexible annular seal 18 embedded in the neck 7 and which, with the orifice 15, constitutes a high pressure shutter provided for the reservoir 5. Au rest, the position of the rod 13 is such that the orifice 15 is closed by the seal 18 (fig. 2).
The cap 4 has on the other hand a stepped bowl 19, turned on the side opposite to the recess 6 and whose bottom is pierced with an opening 21 to allow l th passage of the rod 13.
In the embodiment described in which the stopper 4 is assumed to be made of plastic, the hollow bottom of the bowl 19 is formed by a flexible collar 22 which takes an elastic and sealed support on the neck 7 of the reservoir 5.
To this end, the flange 22 is, in the free state, curved downwards, but it is raised resiliently as a result of the embedding of the neck 7 in the frame 8, so that it exerts a clamping force. .
A helical spring 23 is supported on the collar 22, the other end of which rests on an annular stop 24 provided around the rod 13. This spring is intended to hold the push-button 12 in the high position. and it reinforces the tightness of the junction of the cap 4 and the reservoir 5.
In a housing 25: of the stopper 4 is fitted in a sealed manner a dip tube 26, bathed in the liquid 2. The tube 26 is connected by a conduit 27 to an orifice 28 opening into the bowl 19. Another conduit 29 formed in the stopper 4 connects the upper part of the container 1 to an orifice 31 opening into the bowl 19, at the level of a flared part 32 of the latter, formed above a shoulder 33.
In the embodiment described, the low pressure shutters provided for the active agent 2 to be dispensed and for the air comprise a single flexible annular seal 35, mounted with a peripheral clearance in the flared part 32 of the bowl 19. and crossed by the body 36 of the rod 13.
The seal 35 of appreciable thickness is mounted with a certain degree of freedom in an annular groove 37 of the body 36, delimited by the stop 24 and by another stop 38. The height of the groove 37 is greater than the thickness of the gasket. 35.
At rest (FIG. 2), the seal 35 is compressed by the stop 24 of the rod 13 (under the action in particular of the spring 23) against a wall stop 41, formed by the projecting part. Of a cap 42 force-fitted. on a projection 43 of the plug 4. In .position of rest. the stop 38 is located above the seal 35, in. the central opening 44 ide the cap 42.
In the embodiment considered, the ejection nozzle 16, -of the venturi type, comprises a convergent passage 45 communicating with the channel 14 -and which follows a neck 46 then a divergent orifice 47.
The B-B axis of the nozzle 16 is orthogonal to the A-A axis of Z '@ apparatus.
In the body 36: of the push-button 12 is provided a longitudinal duct 48, extended in the groove 37 by a groove 49 and which emerges on the other hand at the height of the neck 46 of the venturi.
The sub-assembly consisting of the stopper 4 carrying the reservoir 5, the push-button 12, the three shutters provided by the invention and the tube 26, can be mounted very easily on the container 1 thanks to a hollow cover. 51 which covers a rim 52 of the stopper 4 which rests on the neck 3 of the container 1.
The cover 51 is provided with an internal annular projection 53 intended to fit elastically on a corresponding projection 54 of the neck 3.
As the interior of the container 1 is not under pressure, this resilient interlocking assembly is sufficient to ensure the desirable seal when the container 1 is closed.
To make the interior of the device inviolable, the rim 52 is made integral with the neck 3 by gluing or by welding, depending on the nature of the plastic materials used. Indeed the device is not intended to be recharged. With the device mounted and at rest (FIG. 2), the push-button 12 is held in the upper position by the spring 23, to the action of which the pressure of the propellant 10 is added on the rod 13.
The stop 24 thus com prime the seal 35 against the stop 41 of the cap 42.
The bowl 19 is then sealed off by the seal 35, so that the liquid 2 cannot leak out of the container 1. Likewise, any contact with the external atmosphere is prohibited. The apparatus can thus be placed without inconvenience. In all positions.
If we press on the head 17 of the push-button 12 by pressing it along F (fig. 3), the rod 13 smooth neck along the axis AA by compressing the spring 23 and its lower end enters the neck 7 unmasking the 'port 15, which puts the reservoir 5 in communication with the atmosphere. At the same time, the seal 35 is moved along F and this time compressed between the shoulder 33 of the plug 4 and the stop 38 of the body 36 of the rod 13.
Thanks to this displacement, the lower part of the bowl 19 into which the orifice 28 opens remains closed by the gasket 35, while the flared part 32 of this bowl, where the orifice 31 opens, is brought into contact with the atmosphere. through the opening 44 of the cap 42.
Taking these modifications into account, the propulsive fluid escapes along f through the orifice 15 into the channel 14. Taking into account the diameter of this channel, which widens slightly, the vaporized propellant undergoes a first expansion at the outlet of the orifice 15 which gives it a high speed in the channel 14. This speed is further increased after passing through the convergent 45, diverging 47 of the nozzle 16.
Under the effect of this rapid gas circulation, a depression is created at the neck 46 of the nozzle, which causes the suction of liquid 2 along the path j: tube 26, pipe 27, bowl 19, groove 49, pipe 48 On reaching the neck 46, the liquid is dispersed in very fine droplets by the orthogonal flow of propellant gas circulating along the axis BB.
At the same time as the liquid 2 circulates along j, thus gradually emptying the container 1, the outside air is admitted into this container through the pipe 29, the orifice 31 of which is placed in communication with the atmosphere (path k).
The rise duliquide 2 following j is practically instantaneous, even if the container 1 is little filled, so that as soon as the button 12 is pressed, the spraying takes place, without any loss of propellant. It is because of this instantaneity that the present invention provides for the simultaneous opening of the three shutters.
The communication of the receptacle 1 with the atmosphere during the opening, thanks to the conduit 29, on the other hand prevents any depression from occurring above the surface of the liquid 2. This depression would have the effect of slowing down the ascent. liquid in the tube 26 especially when the container 1 is full.
The bowl 19 plays the following particular role comprising a hollow part located below the orifice 28, it retains liquid 2.
When the device is used again, this liquid is driven out mechanically through the top by the descent of the body 36 of the rod 13, which contributes to the almost instantaneous supply of the liquid to the neck 46 of the nozzle 16.
During operation, the propellant 6 cools, had it received a supply of calories from the thick wall of the tank 5 or from the liquid 2 if this tank has thin metal walls and soaks in this liquid.
In particular, since the extrusion of aluminum makes it possible to obtain containers of great length economically, provision may be made for the thin-walled tank to extend over the entire height of the outer container.
Under these conditions, the reserve of liquefied propellant gas can be, during the use of the device, heated by the calories that can be supplied by the liquid to be sprayed itself.
Experience shows that the arrangement thus constituted allows, by means of the choice of a ventilated ejector:
appropriate, to obtain a fine spray (droplets of the order of a few tens of microns in diameter approximately) with a reduced consumption of propellant,
the weight of the latter can thus be initially of the order of 30% relative to the weight of the liquid 2 to be sprayed.
The described embodiment has the following advantages - By using plastic containers, corrosion problems are eliminated. Therefore, water can be used as a solvent,
with the addition of products modifying the surface tension to give it such spraying property. The cost price of the formulation provided for the liquid agent 2 is also lowered.
- As a result of the absence of contact between the propellant 10 and the liquid 2, the use of non-flammable aqueous solutions can be generalized, in particular those containing organic products emulsified or in solution.
- Because the container 1 has an appreciable volume, it provides good protection against splinters in the event of an explosion of the tank 5.
- Spraying is ensured by a simple pressure of the finger, the device being held in. the: same hand. The push-button 12 can moreover be rotated without inconvenience around the axis A-A.
If, moreover, a practically non-flammable gas is used as propellant, for example a chlorofluorinated hydrocarbon such as dichlorodifluoromethane, it is possible to produce non-flammable devices both in storage and in use, presenting no fire hazard by case of explosion, a cost price much lower than that of.
classic aerosol cans due to the lower quantity of propellant and the possibility of carrying out assembly operations at atmospheric pressure. Finally, these devices make it possible to use a much wider range of aqueous solutions than in the usual aerosol technique.
In addition, all the members carried by the cap 4 can be mounted at atmospheric pressure, the rigidity of the collar 22 being sufficient to retain the spring 23 even in the absence of the reservoir 5. This sub-assembly can then be mounted. , under pressure, on the reservoir 5 after filling the latter.
Despite the multiplicity of technical functions appearing during the manipulation of the button 12, the total number of parts of the device remains low.
The hollow rod 13 of the push-button 12 can be arranged at will, as well as the seal 18, to constitute high pressure shutters.
Thus in the r6eakeation of fig. 4 the lower part of the rod 13 has a protrusion 61 with a conical bearing 62 which bears on the seal 18. The operation is the same as above.
In the version of fig. 5, the seal 64 of the high pressure shutter is of the dynamic type. It consists of a flexible ring clamped between the gou lot 7 of the reservoir 5: and the flange 22 of the cap 4. This seal is engaged in a groove 65 of the rod 13, in which the orifice 15 is ballasted. When the button -pusher 12 is pressed along F, the inner part of the seal 64 is lowered and bent, which clears the entry of the orifice 15.
Note that in this version the nozzle 16 instead of being produced directly in the head 17 of the push button 12, is constituted by a self-contained venturi block 66, for example made of metal, which is threaded into a corresponding cavity 67 of head 17.
The fitting. Is such that the radial channel @ 68 @du block 66 opens into an annular housing 69 formed between this block and the conduit 48 for supplying the liquid.
In, the version of fig. 6, the high pressure shutter is constituted by a body 71 fixed in the neck 7 of the reservoir 5 by a flange 72 belonging to a frame 73 clamped between this neck and a c o1 ïffe mebaffique 74 surrounding the head .du. tank <RTI
ID = "0004.0200"> 5.
The frame 8 of the stopper 4 is widened to fit it on the cover 74. Inside the body 71 is mounted a sliding core 75 pushed by a spring 76 against a flexible annular seal 77 wedged between the parts 71, 72, 73. In the part -du core 75 opposite the spring 76 is embedded the base of the rod 13 of the push-button 12, the channel 14 of which communicates with the nozzle 71 through an orifice 78.
This orifice is closed at rest by pressing the core 75 on the seal 77. In this version, the channel 14 branches into two branches 79 which terminate in. openings> 80 in a chamber 81 of the head 12, formed at the inlet of the convergent 45, of the nozzle 16, here constituted by an added block 66, as in the case of FIG. 5.
The annular housing 69 is supplied with liquid 2 by an oblique supply duct 82 not sant between the branches 79 and which opens out through an orifice 83 in an annular groove 84 of the body 36, above a flexible annular seal 85, of the dynamic type, common to the two low pressure shutters. The seal 85 is supported: on a circular rib 86 of the stopper 4, while another rib 87 of the cap 42 bears against it.
Uespaoe -annulaire 88 provided between the parts 42, 85 and 87 is here separated by the seal 85 of the bowl 19 and by the rib 87 from the external atmosphere. This sealed space communicates with the orifice 31 of the duct 29.
By pressing the button 12, the simultaneous movement of the rod 13, of its body 36 and of the core 75, causes both the release of -'orifice 78 for the passage of the propellant in the channel 13, the lowering of the seal 85 which thus moves away from the rib 87 and the penetration of the orifice 83 into the bowl 19, which allows the suction of the liquid 2 towards the nozzle 16.
The three shutters are thus opened simultaneously. The operation is, for the rest, the same as before.
The realization of fig. 7 and 8 is remarkable in that the stopper 4 has an annular housing 91 terminated by a flexible tongue 92. In the housing 91 is mounted in a sealed manner the fixed body 93 of a nozzle which penetrates into the neck 7 of the reservoir. see 5 via a flexible static seal 94 interposed between this neck and the cap 4.
The body 93 of the nozzle is surmounted by three stepped flexible annular seals 95, 96, 97, kept apart from each other by two spacers with radial perforations 151, 152, the whole constituting a stack.
The seals 95, 96, 97, bear on the one hand on the wall of the housing 91 and on the other hand in three grooves 98, 99, 100 of the rod 13 of the push-button 12 which is extended beyond .du. joint 95 by a core 101 urged upwards by a helical spring 102, housed in the body 93 of the nozzle.
The seal 95 belongs to the high-pressure shutter, the other element of which is constituted by radial conduits 108 of the rod 13 opening into a chamber 109 of the body 93 in communication with the interior of the reservoir 5 via a channel. 111. The entry of this channel is controlled by a movable ball 112.
This is intended to measure the quantity of propellant sent into channel 111 in the event that the device is used upside down.
The internal channel of the rod 13, supplied with a pro pulser by the conduits 108 has here the shape of a venturi and at the same time constitutes the ejection nozzle, the projection being provided along the axis A-A of the bomb. From this venturi, we can recognize the convergent 113, the neck 114 and the divergent 115.
Radial conduits 116 are provided at the level of the neck 114, normally closed by the seal 96. Finally, grooves 117 are made at the periphery of the rod 13 in the constriction 100. These grooves are normally closed by the seal 97.
It can be seen that at rest the three stacked seals 95, 96, 97 delimit three superposed sealed chambers: the first 109 in relation to the reservoir 5, the second 121 served by the duct 27 for supplying the liquid, the third 122 served via the air circulation duct 29.
The device is controlled as follows: the upper part of the rod 13 is embedded in the push-button consisting of a trigger guard 123 mounted cantilever on an annular body 124, made of flexible material and elastic which fits on an annular rim 125 of the stopper 4. The free branch of the bridge 123 is provided with a finger rest 126 and traversed by the spray orifice 127 which is protected by a guard 128.
By pressing on the finger-rest 126 along K while rotating the trigger guard 123 by elastic deformation in the same direction, the rod 13 slides along G (FIG. 8). The three flexible annular joints 95, 96, 97 are then deformed and reveal the conduits 108, 116 and the grooves 117.
The: vaporized propellant circulates along the axis A-A of the rod. The liquid 2 supplied by the tube 26 then passes into the neck 114 of the ejector while the outside air enters the container 1 through the grooves 117. The operation is the same as above.
