Fig. 1 die Einsteckeinrichtung im Aufriss,
Fig. 2 ein Detail mit Schuppenausleger,
Fig. 3 bis 6 Querschnittdetails mit verschiedenen Operationsmomenten,
Fig. 7 ein Detail des Auslegers in Draufsicht.
Method and device for inserting inserts and for displaying newspaper copies provided with inserts
Daily newspapers tend to have a considerable number of pages on the weekend. These page numbers determine the size of the newspaper rotary press. Since smaller page numbers are required at the beginning of the week, part of the rotary press is poorly used.
The move has therefore been made to print those parts of the weekend newspapers that do not have to be up-to-date in advance and to insert them into the current main product as an insert. This plugging in is still a major problem today, as the work has to be done by hand in the absence of suitable machines. Since most newspapers, especially weekend newspapers, are printed at night, this manual labor often has to be carried out by expensive male workers as a result of social legislation. With print runs of several hundred thousand copies, a considerable number of staff is required, which is associated with a space requirement and costs that are out of proportion to the production of the newspaper itself.
Inserting machines have already been built in which both the copies to be inserted and the current part of the newspaper have to be placed in stacks. The personnel expenditure, especially with heavy products, due to the loading of two stacks per machine, is almost as great as when inserting by hand, not least because the performance of such inserting machines is only half to a third that of a rotary machine and thus Appropriate monitoring personnel must be present.
The object of the invention is to avoid these disadvantages. According to the method according to the invention, this object is achieved in that the folded newspaper copies arriving from the folder in a flake-like manner are opened synchronously with the rotary machine on a partial working section of more than one copy length for taking up the supplement or inserts and then on a partial working section of more closed as a copy length and then fed to further processing.
In the device according to the invention for carrying out the method, accelerating rollers, a strip line and roller are arranged to accelerate and feed the specimens to the drum, and the drum is provided with at least four sections of grippers, suckers, which are rotatably mounted on levers, and sword-like Flaps which are longitudinally displaceable on axes and controllable in the axial direction by means of a curve, with stacks which are used to receive enclosures being in operative connection with the drum in such a way that the enclosures are fed to the opened copy via assigned ribbon lines and a delivery is then provided, that works with the drum.
The drawing shows an embodiment of the device for carrying out the method according to the invention.
It shows:
1 shows the insertion device in elevation,
2 shows a detail with a shingled boom,
3 to 6 cross-sectional details with different operating moments,
7 shows a detail of the boom in plan view.
On the boom or conveyor 1, the copies 2 of the printed product fall in a schuppenför mig. They are pressed by a pair of rollers 3, and the foremost specimen 5 is grasped by acceleration rollers 4, accelerated and guided to the stop 8 of the drum 9 by means of a tape line 6 and roller 7. Grippers 10, the control of which is not specifically shown, hold the specimen firmly and transport it to the delivery to the boom 11 or 12.
Suction cups 13 are rotatably mounted on lever 14 and are pressed against drum 9 by torsion spring 15, up to a stop, not shown, which prevents the suction cups from further pivoting when the suction surface is parallel to the shell of drum 9. The levers 14 are pivotable about axis 16, but the control of this axis is not particularly shown.
The sword-like flaps 17 are longitudinally displaceable on the axis 18 and controlled in the axial direction by curve 19. The axis 18 is pivotably controlled by curve 20. The movement of the suction cups 13 and flaps 17 can be seen in FIGS. 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
From the stacks 21 and 22 supplements are removed in a known manner and fed according to the invention through tape lines 23 and 24 to the opened copy 25, these tape lines having a higher speed than drum 9 and are arranged in approximately the same direction of movement to the drum.
After opening the gripper 10, the specimens e fall into the boom 11 or 12. The boom 11 according to FIG. 1 consists of two helical structures 26 lying next to one another, axially parallel, as shown in FIG. By rotating the screws 26, the specimens 27 are transported away from the drum 9, which is facilitated by the vibrating table 28. Divider 30, pulled by chain 31, slides in two curves 32 and 33 and between them, serves to form divided packs 29 Screws 26 kept apart specimens is pushed.
The boom 12 of FIG. 2 is a known stream boom.
It is also possible to arrange at least one chain section (not shown) in place of the drum 9, which is provided with grippers, suckers and sword-like flaps in order to lead the specimens to the same stations as the drum 9 and perform the same functions.
In the device according to the invention, only the inserts, which usually comprise fewer pages and are therefore lighter, have to be placed on the stacks 21 and 22 by hand. So that the rotary press can be fully utilized, the folders can be provided with double delivery. Then two insertion devices each with half the capacity per rotary machine can be used. Three or more displays are also conceivable with a corresponding increase in the insertion devices.
In order to be able to temporarily display newspapers without inserts with the same device, means are built in to stop the movement of the suction cups and the sword-like flaps.
