A une distance 1l de l'ordre de 60 mètres par exemple en aval du commencement C de la zone d'annonce L, les deux files de rail sont raccordées en a et b à un transformateur 8 qui alimente par ses enroulements 8A et 8B un récepteur R2 et par ses enroulements 8B ou 8B -h 8C un circuit comportant un redresseur 10, la bobine d'un relais auxiliaire 9 aux bornes de laquelle est branché un condensateur 11, et un contact de maintien 12 dudit relais 9 ;
The present invention relates to safety systems which operate on the principle of railway track circuits with insulating joints for the control of level crossings.
For level crossings, in particular those equipped with automatic road signaling devices, it is preferable, from the point of view of safety, to control these devices continuously throughout the period of approach of the convoy.
However, the use of the automatic block track relays for this purpose cannot generally solve the problem completely because the division of the block into isolated track blocks is not linked to the position of the level crossings and therefore to those at the two ends of their advertisement zone, so that this division is generally not suitable for delimiting the advertisement zone precisely.
To remedy this state of affairs, we have to create new insulating joints, but this method is expensive and goes against the aim sought by the operator of reducing the number of rail joints to a minimum.
The present invention relates to an arrangement being superimposed on the existing track circuits of the high voltage pulse type, and ensuring the continuity of the announcement regardless of the position of the insulating joints of the automatic block. This arrangement must, moreover, make it possible to produce any length of the advertisement zone and also be suitable when the zone ends are in the vicinity of an existing insulating joint.
The continuous announcement system, in accordance with the present invention, is characterized by an announcement relay which, depending on the location of the level crossing and the ends of the convoy announcement area with respect to the isolated cantons of the auto block existing system, is subject to track relays or additional receivers sensitive to the voltage pulses taken from said blocks.
The practical realization of this system makes use, in particular, of the following provisions - The announcement relay, arranged in the known manner as a track relay selectively sensitive to the operational impulses of the automatic unit, is connected to the tracks of the track to the right of the level crossing and has an auxiliary relay, associated so as to modify its sensitivity.
- When the level crossing as well as the entry and exit points of the warning zone do not coincide with the positions of the insulating joints of a single isolated block, the operation of the warning relay is ensured by the contacts of an auxiliary relay associated with a similar additional receiver, these contacts being interconnected with the announcement relay.
When the entry and exit of the announcement zone are located in a single isolated block, the announcement relay cooperates with two channel relay receivers, placed at the ends of said block and operatively interconnected.
The arrangement, object of the invention, will be described in more detail by considering two examples of application which are shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 of the annexed sin.
Fig. 1 is a diagram of this arrangement in the more general case where the level crossing as well as the entrance and exit of the warning zone do not coincide with the positions of the insulating joints of the existing automatic block track circuit.
Fig. 2 represents a diagram applicable as a variant in the case where the origin and the end of the announcement zone are located at any two points of the same isolated section.
In fig. 1, there is shown at 2 an automatic block track block which is isolated from neighboring blocks 1 and 3 by joints 4A and 4B on either side of which are arranged inductive connections of the well known type 5A1 - 5A2 - 5B1 and 5B2.
At a point in block 2 which is far from the insulating joints 4A and 4B, is located a level crossing N at the right of which an announcement is, by the device described, produced continuously throughout the time that a convoy is moving. directing in the direction of the arrow f is engaged on an announcement zone L; in the example considered, the entrance C of this announcement zone L is located upstream of the joints 4A and at a certain distance from these joints and the previous joints of the section 1, not shown.
Under these siting conditions for the level crossing N and the warning zone L, the track circuit pulses are supplied to track blocks 1 and 2 via the inductive connections 5A1 and 5A2 by means of transmitters El and E2 supplied with an alternating voltage U.
In this case, the positions of the emitter E2 and receiver RI of isolated block 2 on which the end F of the announcement zone is located are reversed with respect to their usual position vis-à-vis similar devices from other districts. track; the licensee's experience has shown that this reversal did not interfere with the operation of an automatic high voltage short pulse block track circuit.
The channel block 2 comprises a receiver Rl which is supplied by the inductive connection 5131 and whose channel relay 6 controls, through its contacts 6A, a semaphore 7 placed a little before the insulating joints 4A.
At a distance 11 of the order of 60 meters, for example downstream from the beginning C of the warning zone L, the two lines of rail are connected at a and b to a transformer 8 which feeds through its windings 8A and 8B a receiver R2 and by its windings 8B or 8B -h 8C a circuit comprising a rectifier 10, the coil of an auxiliary relay 9 to the terminals of which a capacitor 11 is connected, and a holding contact 12 of said relay 9;
the selection of the voltage taps is ensured by means of a translator contact 13 integral with the movable armature of a relay 14 incorporated in the figure in said receiver R2.
The relay 9 comprises two contacts 15 connected on the one hand to a rectifier 16A and, on the other hand, to the two conductors of a line 17 extending approximately over the length of the announcement zone L.
Following a process which will be described in detail later, as soon as a convoy arrives on zone L, the mobile armature of the auxiliary relay 9 takes the low position, and its contacts 15 open the circuit of line 17 , which has the effect, by causing the movable armature of a relay 24 called the announcement relay to fall, to signal the approach of the convoy to the level crossing.
Line 17 is connected to an announcement receiver R3 which is supplied by the secondary windings of a transformer 18 whose primary winding, or a fraction of this winding, is connected at c and d to the two rows of nearby rail step wise at level; the selection of the taps on the primary winding of this transformer is obtained by means of the translator 19 of an auxiliary relay 20.
The coil of this relay, to the terminals of which a capacitor 21 is connected, is in series with a rectifier 22; it is supplied by one of the secondary windings of transformer 18 when a contact 23 integral with the movable armature of the announcement relay 24 is in the high position.
As will emerge from the following explanations, as soon as the tail of the convoy heading in the direction of the arrow f reaches the point F of exit from the warning zone L, located at a distance 12 of the order of 60 meters for example downstream of the current sockets c and d, the movable armature of the announcement relay 24 is drawn into the high position, and this maneuver actuates contacts not shown which have the role of eliminating the announcement caused by the 'opening of contacts 15 of relay 9 when the convoy crossed entry point C of zone L.
The receptors R1, R2 and R3 can be of any type; by way of example, receivers R2 and R3 have been shown, similar to that which is the subject of Swiss patent No. 353761 of the holder, which describes a selective relay with three magnetic branches, two of which are interconnected by a magnetic bridge.
As explained in this patent, the alternations of currents il and 12 which, at each pulse, originate in the circuits supplied by the secondary windings of transformers 8 and 18, are selected in two separate circuits with accumulator d energy competing with each other for the attraction of the movable armature of relays 14 and 24 of receivers R2 and R3. For receiver R2, one of these circuits is constituted by capacitors 25 and 26, a resistor 27, a rectifier 16, and the windings 28 and 29 of relay 14, the other circuit is constituted by a capacitor 30,
a rectifier 31 and a winding 32 of the relay 14. The homologous elements of the receiver R3 are identified in the figure by identical numbers followed by the index A.
It will be noted that the rectifier 16A of the receiver R3 has been interposed between the contacts 15 of the relay 9; the purpose of this offset is to prevent untimely operation of the announcement relay 24 in the event of accidental contact between the two conductors of line 17; in such a case, in fact, the rectifier 16A interposed between the contacts 15 is not in circuit and the current pulses on the windings 28A and 29A of the relay 24 are made bidirectional, so that any untimely attraction of the armature of said relay is eliminated.
We will now examine in more detail the operation of the announcement device illustrated by the diagram of FIG. 1.
In the absence of any convoy on blocks 1 and 2, the periodic high voltage pulses that the transmitters El and E2 create between the two lines of rail have their full effect over the entire length of these said cantons. Given the structure described above of the receiver R2, the movable armature of the relay 14 of this receiver is kept in the high position.
The capacitor 11 charges during the alternations corresponding to the passing direction of the diode 10 and is discharged in the coil of the relay 9 during the time periods separating these alternations; the translator 13 being in the high position, said coil is supplied by the winding 8B and the contacts 12 and 15 are closed.
The mobile armature of the announcement relay 24 of the receiver R3 is also maintained in the high position, which corresponds to the absence of an announcement; the contact 23 being closed, the capacitor 21 is charged during the half-waves corresponding to the passing direction of the diode 22 and is discharged in the coil of the relay 20 during the periods of time between these half-waves; the transformer 19 is in the high position and the whole of the primary winding of the transformer 18 is in service; the sensitivity of the R3 receptor is thereby reduced.
As soon as a convoy arrives on block 1, the shunt effect of the rails causes the fall of the movable armature of relay 14, but it is not sufficient to also cause the fall of relay 9 because, inter alia, that the coil of said relay is supercharged by the winding 8C as soon as the transformer 13 has taken the low position.
It should be noted in this connection that the operation of the translator 13 does not cause a drop, even partial, of the armature of the relay 9 due to the energy accumulated in the supply circuit of said relay.
Under these conditions, the bypassing of the rails of section 1 does not cause relay 9 to fall until the head of the convoy reaches point C. Contacts 12 and 15 then open; the announcement relay 24 of the receiver R3 is de-energized; its armature, when falling, activates contacts (not shown) which ensure the announcement and open the contact 23 which de-energizes the relay 20; by taking the low position, the translator 19 connects, to the sockets c and d, a fraction of the primary winding of the transformer 18, and thus sensitizes said relay 24 with a view to its subsequent attraction.
As soon as the convoy enters block 2, the voltage emissions from generator E2 no longer have any effects at points c and d and the tail of the convoy can pass through joints 4A without the position relays 24 and 20 is modified; relays 14 and 9, however, at this instant resume the high positions, due to the reappearance of the voltage pulses on channel block 1.
After the tail of the convoy disengages the connection points c and d, the pulses supplying the transformer 18 with a fraction of its primary winding increase in amplitude with the distance of the convoy, and when the rear of the convoy reaches point F located downstream of the c and d sockets, the energy collected is sufficient to ensure the attraction of the mobile armature of the announcement relay 24, which causes the cancellation of the announces and prepares the attraction of the armature of the relay 20 which will only occur at a point further away from the level crossing or when the tail of the convoy has passed the joints 4B.
The energy collected at points c and d will then be sufficient to ensure that relays 24 and 20 are kept in high position, despite the reduction in the voltage applied to these relays following switching on. service by the translator 19 of the totality of the primary rolling of the transformer 18.
In the event that points C and F are implanted in the existing track circuit in a manner different from that envisaged in fig. 1, modifications can be made to the system described, without departing from the scope of the invention. For example, if point C is not located on block 1, but on the previous downstream block 0 (not shown), it is this block 0 which will be equipped like block 1 described in previous example; block 1, in this case, will be equipped with a normal transmitter and receiver, and line 17 will pass through contacts arranged on the channel relay of the block 1 receiver.
In this way, the continuity of the announcement will still be ensured from point C located in block 0 to point F located in block 2, that is to say over the entire length of the announcement zone.
In the case illustrated in fig. 2, the entrance C and the exit F of the announcement zone are located at any two points of the same block 2 isolated from the adjacent blocks 1 and 3 by insulating joints 4A and 4B. On either side of these joints, the rails are connected to inductive connections 5A1, 5A2 and 5B1, 5B2 of a known type. The secondaries of the inductive connections 5A2 and 5B1 are connected to receivers R, 1 and R5 which are arranged in a known manner, for example in accordance with those described in the Swiss patent already cited.
The rectifier 16B of the receiver R.1 is, by a bipolar line 17A, transferred between the contacts of a bipolar switch 15A which is open when the movable armature of the channel relay of the receiver R5 is in the low position. Via an M link, the receiver R.1 controls the semaphore 7. On the channel block 2, the periodic high voltage pulses are sent at points g and h located at a distance 11 downstream from the beginning C of the announcement zone by a transmitter E3 supplied with an alternating voltage U.
At a distance 12 upstream from the end point of announcement F, an equipment identical to that connected to the same points c and d </ is connected to the rails at points c and d . I> of the previous example of FIG. 1.
This equipment therefore comprises a transformer 18, an announcement receiver R3 and an auxiliary relay 20 with its translator 19, a capacitor 21 and a rectifier 22.
When a convoy moving in the direction of the arrow f reaches the joints 4A, the shunting of the rails by the axles of the convoy causes the fall of the track relay of R4 and the semaphore 7 takes the position controlling the stop.
Before the head of the convoy has reached point C, the relay 20 drops, and the announcement relay 24 included in the figure in the receiver R3 becomes more sensitive to voltage pulses.
When the head of the convoy reaches point C, the voltage between points c and d . Of the pulses produced by the emitter E3 is no longer sufficient to keep the armature in the upper position. mobile of the announcement relay 24 and the convoy is therefore announced at level crossing N.
Between points gh on the one hand and cd, on the other hand, the passage of the convoy has the effect of completely canceling the tension between points c and d.
This tension increases as soon as the tail of the convoy has passed points c and d; at a distance 12 of about 60 meters for example from these points, i.e. at F, the tension becomes sufficient to reset the announcement relay 24 and the announcement at level crossing N is canceled; as in the previous case, relay 20 then resets itself to reduce the power absorbed by transformer 18 by reinserting all of the primary winding of said transformer.
It should be noted that at no point in block 2, the channel relay of receiver R4 can be reset, because it is neutralized by bypassing the channel, either directly or via the receiver R5 (opening by 15A of one of the relay control circuits of R4).
