Game of skill The object of the present invention is a game of skill comprising a board with a raised edge equipped with an orientable device for throwing steel balls, characterized in that the board is provided with at least one magnet holding a steel ball to the surface of the plate, so that a ball thrown in the right direction with the desired force is attracted by the ball held by the magnet and rotates around it.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a plan view of the game; fig. 2 is a partial section taken on line II-II of FIG. 1, on a larger scale.
The skill game shown in the drawing comprises a plate 1 intended to be placed at least approximately in a horizontal position on a support such as a table. The plate 1 is provided with a raised edge 2 and near one of its ends it is provided with a device 3 known per se, used to launch steel balls; this device can be pivoted between certain limits around an axis 4 perpendicular to the surface of the plate 1.
Near its other end, the plate 1 is provided with several permanent magnets 5 each comprising a core 6, constituting one of the poles, a pot 7 constituting an air gap and a pot-shaped element constituting the other pole. The free surface of the core 6 is an extension of the upper surface of the plate 1. There could be a single magnet 5; in the example shown, there are five such magnets arranged at the top and on the legs of a V.
In front of the mant 5 disposed at the top is fixed a pin 9 furnished with a part 10, part of the profile of which is concave to adapt to the contour of a steel ball 11, while two side faces are connected to this face concave and inclined against each other. Part 10 thus constitutes a baffle.
If a steel ball 11 is placed on one of the magnets 5, it will be retained by the latter.
The player will be able to throw another steel ball 12 by means of the device 3. If he throws it in the right direction so that it touches one of the balls 11, it will be attracted by it and it will perform one or more. rotations according to arrow 13 around this ball, according to the living energy from which it is still animated. If the thrown ball 12 touches the ball 11 in front of which the part 10 is located, it will be detached from this ball 11 after having turned around it for a little more than a half-turn.
Points will be awarded to players each time they manage to throw a 12 ball so that it revolves around an 11 ball.
The embodiment shown and described by way of example could be modified in many details. Thus, for example, the permanent magnets could be replaced by electromagnets, which would give the possibility of exciting these magnets as desired by actuating switches which are associated with them.
