La fig. 1 est une vue perspective de l'ensemble d'un dispositif suivant l'invention;

Method and device for automatic winding and packaging
of strip-shaped products
The present invention relates to a method and a device automatically ensuring the winding and repackaging of products in the form of strips, in particular as they are manufactured.
The invention is particularly applicable in the continuous manufacture of mattresses of glass fibers, or similar mineral materials, cut into strips.
Mineral fibers, in particular glass fibers, can be produced by any suitable means, in particular by pneumatic drawing or by centrifugation. The invention provides in particular for the application of the method and of the device which constitutes the object thereof, at the very end of the conveyor member on which the fibers have been deposited in the form of mattresses impregnated with a binder and cut into bands.
The method according to the invention consists in causing the strip to be wound between movable members which act on said strip to ensure its winding on itself, to be formed on a sheet to be used for packaging and coming from a magazine roll , a transverse line of least resistance as well as a gluing line contiguous to the latter, this sheet being kept on standby during the winding of the strip, to control its advancement for the drive by the last turn of the winding and in stopping said sheet after it has made at least one turn on said winding so that it tears along the line of least resistance and that it sticks to itself by closing the packaging, the front edge of the next part of the strip remaining in position for further packaging.
According to the invention, the winding device for implementing this method comprises belts which move in translation and which act on the strip to roll it up on itself.
According to a particular embodiment, the device comprises, on the one hand, a blade provided with teeth or points which forms in the sheet used for repackaging a line of least resistance transverse to said sheet and, on the other hand, glue guns which form a glue line on the sheet parallel to the line of least resistance.
According to this embodiment, the magazine roll is subjected to the action of a brake under the control of a jack which releases the brake when the rear edge of the strip being wound up arrives at a determined distance from the station winding, allowing the starting of the sheet and its drive by the last turn of the winding.
According to this embodiment, the stopping of the sheet by the brake ensures the breaking along the line of least resistance and its stickingv
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the device according to the invention; in this drawing:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the assembly of a device according to the invention;
fig. 2 is a detail elevational view of a device for ejecting a bundled coil.
In the embodiment shown, the strips 1, for example of glass fiber mats or felts, are driven continuously by conveyor rollers 2 towards the winding and packaging station.
Winding of the bands on themselves is obtained by means of two conveyor belts driven by a translational movement, the band arriving on the lower conveyor 3 which brings it into contact with the conveyor 4. These two conveyors act on the conveyor. tape to roll it on itself.
It will be noted that, as the winding progresses, the peripheral speed of the strip remains constant. This speed is such that it makes it possible to proceed with the complete winding of a strip, its packaging and its ejection before the arrival of the next strip la at the winding and packaging station.
The packaging is obtained by means of a sheet 10, for example of paper, coming from a magazine roll 5. On this roll can come a brake 6 controlled by a jack 7. A sensor 8 detects the end of the roll. of paper and warns that it is necessary to replace it.
The sheet 10 passes between a roller 9, driven by a motor 11, and a counter-roller 12, the latter being mounted on a shaft 13 capable of pivoting under the action of an electromagnet 14, so that, by action of the latter the sheet can be applied by the counter-roller 12 on the motor roller 9, which asssure its drive.
The sheet 10 then passes over a roller 15 provided with points, the shaft of which drives a slide 16 by a rack-and-pinion system 17 with a suitable reduction. This ruler which gives a measurement of the displacement of the sheet is provided with a stopper 18 establishing contact in the magnetic limit switch 19, the position of which can be adjusted. A clutch and counterweight assembly, not shown, ensures the return of the slide to the initial position.
Above and transversely to the sheet 10 is provided a blade 20 provided with teeth 21. This blade is mounted on a carriage 22 by means of jacks 23. On the same carriage are mounted glue guns 24 aligned parallel to the blade and downstream thereof with respect to the movement of the sheet 10.
The sheet 10 arrives at the winding and packaging station by passing under a roller 25 and under leaf springs 26.
This device works as follows:
The strip 1 subjected to the action of the belts 3 and 4 is wound up on itself while the sheet 10 is stationary and is tensioned by friction by the action of the blades 26, the brake 6 being applied by the cylinder 7.
A timer controls the descent of the blade 20 under the action of the jacks 23, this descent taking place at a distance from the front edge of the sheet corresponding to the length of paper necessary for the packaging of the winding which will be formed. .
The teeth of the blade form a dotted line 27 of cut on the sheet. The blade then rises by actuating the guns 24 via an electrical contactor and a timer. I1 thus forms on the sheet 10 a bonding line parallel to the cutting line.
When the rear edge of the strip 1 arrives in line with the end of the stroke 28, the latter, by means of a timer ensures, on the one hand, the operation of the jack 7 which releases the brake 6 and on the other hand, the excitation Ide lélesbro-ailmant which applies the sheet 10, by the counter-roller 12, on the motor roller 9.
The sheet 10 then winds in the strip 1, being driven by the last turn of the winding of said strip. The slide 16 is driven by the roller 15 and, when the latch 18 reaches the magnetic limit switch 19, this contact actuates the jack 7 which, by the brake 6, stops the sheet 10. I1 results in the tearing of the sheet vertically to the axis of the winding of the strip and the gluing of said sheet by covering.
The strip thus wound up and packaged is then ejected. This ejection is obtained by tilting the belt 4 around the axis 30 (FIG. 2), this belt being mounted on a support 31 actuated by a jack 32. A lever 33 articulated at 34 and comprising a roller 35 acts on the belt. packaged for easy ejection.
The web winding speed as well as the cutting of the sheet can be controlled from an electrical contactor actuated by the web cutter and timers.
