EMI0003.0012
wiedergegeben werden.
Die Dichte dieser Tablette betrug 3,9 g/cm3 und der spezifische Widerstand2,106 Ohm/cm. Mit Hilfe eines Torsionsverfahrens, wie es in Physica 8, 562 bis 565, 1941, beschrieben ist, wurde die magnetische Anisotropie dieser Tablette in Richtung des Magnet feldes beim Pressen bestimmt;
deren Wert, in einem effektiven Feld H.A ausgedrückt, betrug 9800 Oer- sted.

Method for the production of a ferromagnetic body and use of the same The invention relates to a method for the production of a ferromagnetic body which consists at least partially of ferromagnetic crystals with a hexagonal crystal structure similar to that of the compound BaFel2019.
It is known that the compound BaFe12019 has permanent magnetic properties. The crystal structure of this compound is the same as that of the mineral magnetoplumbite, which is the hexagonal structure with a c-axis of about 23.3 A and an a-axis of about 5.9 A. These crystals have anisotropic magnetic properties.
Due to the large magnetic crystal anisotropy in the direction of the hexagonal axis of the crystals, bodies consisting of such compounds can be used for various microwave applications, e.g. B. in those cases in which the Faraday rotation or the magnetic resonance Ge is made use.
The magnetic anisotropy can be described by an effective anisotropy field, which in this case is about 17,000 Oersted. As a result, a Faraday rotation is possible, please include at 1-2 cm (15,000-30,000 MHz), while Re sonance applications are possible at around 6 mm (50,000 MHz). If an external magnetic field is also applied, the area of application can be expanded to include even smaller wavelengths. However, it is not possible to expand to larger wavelengths.
However, other ferromagnetic oxide materials are known which can be used in microwave apparatus at lower wavelengths, namely ferrites with a spinel structure. With regard to the upper limit, the swept wavelength range is determined by the minimum magnetic field required for the saturation of these soft magnetic materials and, with regard to the lower limit, by the maximum magnetic field that can be achieved in practice in a waveguide.
In this way, magnetic resonance applications are possible in a range of 3-15 cm (2000-10,000 MHz). There remains a wavelength range in which the known ferromagnetic oxide materials cannot be used or, if necessary, only with strong magnetic fields and therefore large magnets.
The inventive method is characterized in that ferromagnetic crystals of the formula
EMI0001.0045
where EIv is at least one of the tetravalent metals Ti, Ge, Zr, Hf and Sn, furthermore MeII is at least one of the divalent metals Mn, Ni, Zn, Mg and Cu and where 0 <a <1 0 <b <1 0 <c < 0.4 0 <d <2.5 0 <e <1 0 <f <3 0 <(a + b + c) <1 e <d,
are produced by heating a finely divided mixture of substances, which mixture contains the oxides of the metals contained in the crystals, compounds which transform into these oxides when heated and / or compounds of these oxides to one another in the required weight ratio.
The magnetic anisotropy of these crystals can be described by effective anisotropy fields of 16,000 oersteds down to low values in the direction of the hexagonal axis. Since the materials are oxydic, their specific resistance is relatively high.
In particular in the case of materials in which MeII represents at least Cu, and in those in which trivalent manganese is present (f + 0), high values of the specific resistance can occur.
Since it is desirable in certain cases that the bodies are anisotropic in magnetic terms, whoever then uses in particular those bodies that have a certain texture, that is, bodies in which the particles are present to a greater or lesser extent in a mutually oriented state are.
The ferromagnetic bodies according to the invention and in particular those in which a texture is present to a certain extent can be used in transmission systems for microwaves. Due to the anisotropy field of these materials, magnetic resonance applications in the range of 6-30 mm (10,000-50,000 MHz) are possible. This area is not only caused by the anisobropy, but also by the demagnetization.
As with the above-described use of ferrites with a spin structure, when using the body according to the invention, the lower limit of the wavelength can still be reduced by applying an external magnetic field. The wavelength is then caused by the anisotropy field, the demagnetization and the external magnetic field.
The bodies according to the invention are preferably produced by heating (sintering) a finely divided mixture of the composing metal oxides of the new compounds selected in the required ratio. Here you can of course, one or more of the composing metal oxides completely or partially through compounds that go into the metal oxides when heated, eg. B. carbonates, oxalates and acetates. In addition, the composing metal oxides can be completely or partially replaced by one or more reac tion products of two or more of the composing metal oxide, eg. B. BaFe12019.
The correct ratio is understood here to mean a ratio of the amounts of metal in the starting mixture equal to that in the materials to be produced. If necessary, the finely divided starting mixture can first be pre-sintered, the reaction product can be ground again and the powder obtained in this way can be sintered again. This series of processing operations can be repeated one or more times if necessary.
The temperature of the sintering or the final sintering can be between about 1000 and about 1450 C, e.g. B. between 1200 and 1350 '' C, can be selected. To facilitate sintering, sintering agents such as silicates and fluorides can be added.
Ferromagnetic bodies can be produced by the fact that the starting mixture of metal oxides is immediately sintered in the desired form, or by the fact that the reaction product of the presintering is ground and, if necessary, after the addition of a binder, into the ge desired shape is brought and re-sintered.
Ferromagnetic bodies, in which a certain texture is present to a certain extent, can be produced in that the particles of the ferromagnetic material, which are mutually free to move to a certain extent, are directed in a magnetic field and fixed to form a coherent structure. It is also possible to sinter the particles, which are fixed to a coherent structure, to form a body. The powder is preferably composed of single crystal particles as possible.
It is also possible to produce ferromagnetic bodies with a certain texture by the fact that the particles of a finely divided starting mixture selected in the correct ratio, which consists of metal oxides and / or compounds which convert into these metal oxides when heated, and / or compounds of two or more there is more of the composing metal oxides, the mixture containing at least one ferromagnetic compound, which consists of magnetically orientable particles, are aligned in a magnetic field, as long as the particles are mutually free to move to a certain extent, and then the whole is sintered into a compact body becomes.
In this case too, the powder consists as far as possible of single crystal particles with regard to the aforementioned orientable ferromagnetic compound. This method offers the advantage that the texture is obtained by orienting particles present in the starting mixture, which have a greater anisotropy and are therefore easier to orient than the particles of the above-mentioned compositions from which the body consists after the final sintering.
Since it is advantageous for certain applications to use bodies with a relatively high density, this must be taken into account during manufacture. This can be done in that the starting mixture and, if necessary, the pre-sintering product are ground extremely finely and the body is sintered at a higher temperature. The latter can, however, have the disadvantage that a small part of the iron changes to the bivalent state, so that the specific resistance of the body has a low, possibly even an undesirably low value.
Example 1 A mixture of BaFe12019, BaC03, TiO2 and CoC03 in a mutual ratio of 0.9 mole BaFe12019, 0.1 mole BaC03, 0.6 mole TiO2 and 0.6 times CoC03, what the the desired compound was milled with alcohol in a shaker mill for 8 hours.
The milled product was slurried in acetone, and a part was pressed into a tablet under a pressure of almost 1 ton / cm2 in a constant magnetic field with a field strength of 8000 Oersted parallel to the pressing direction. It is possible to use a straightening process for this mixture because the ferromagnetic compound BaFeY2019 consists of magnetically orientable particles.
The tablet was heated from room temperature to 500 ° C. in 16 hours and from 500 to 1210 ° C. in 5 hours and sintered in oxygen at 1210 ° C. for 2 hours. The reaction can be expressed by the equation
EMI0003.0012
be reproduced.
The density of this tablet was 3.9 g / cm3 and the specific resistance 2.106 Ohm / cm. With the help of a torsion method, as described in Physica 8, 562 to 565, 1941, the magnetic anisotropy of this tablet was determined in the direction of the magnetic field during pressing;
its value, expressed in an effective field H.A, was 9800 Oersted. With the help of an X-ray diffractometer, as in the examples below, it was found that the tablet was made up of particles with a crystal structure similar to the compound BaFe12019 and that the particles were present in the body in a mutually almost completely oriented state. A plate measuring 10 × 3 × 0.15 mm was cut from the tablet, the side of 3 mm being parallel to the direction of the magnetic field when the tablet was pressed.
The plate was glued to a trapezoidal quartz plate with a thickness of 0.7 mm. The whole thing was arranged in a right-angled corrugated tube with dimensions of 7.1 to 3.55 mm parallel to the short side wall.
In the direction perpendicular to the ferromagnetic platelet, a magnetic field H1 was applied, which was adjusted to maximum energy absorption in the reverse direction at a frequency of 35,000 MHz. The distance between the plate and the short side wall was then changed with the field H i applied until the transmission attenuation was minimal, which was the case at a distance of approximately 0.6 mm. The transmission attenuation is the attenuation of the microwaves in the direction of propagation.
The damping ratio d 1 was determined here; that is the ratio between the attenuation of the microwaves in the opposite direction to the direction of propagation and the attenuation of the microwaves in the direction of propagation. dv was 12.0 and Hp was 700 oersteds.
In a similar way, tablets were prepared according to the following reaction equations, which were sintered at the temperature given in the table. The density, the specific resistance and the effective anisotropy field Ha were determined from these tablets. Platelets were cut from some tablets in the manner indicated and tested in the manner described above. The values of the damping ratio d and of the applied magnetic field Hl are also recorded in the table.
