Schmierkopf An Fettpressen oder ähnlichen Schmiergeräten sind Schmierköpfe in verschiedenen Ausführungen bekannt, welche zum dichten, lösbaren Kuppeln mit hinterschnittenen Schmiernippeln, insbesondere an Motorfahrzeugen, bestimmt sind. Eine bekannte Kon struktion eines .solchen Schmierkopfes weist in einem dm wesentlichen zylindrischen Gehäuse eine metal lische Hülse auf, welche gegenüber ;
Da die erwähnte Abstützfläche der metallischen Hülse im Gebrauch durch Schläge :und Schmutzteile Beschädigungen er leidet, würde sie .allein keine dichte Verbindung zwi schen Schmierkopf und Nippel gewährleisten. Es ist deshalb im Innern der metallischen Hülse ein längs- durchbohrter Dichtkörper (aus ;elastischem Material vorgesehen, welcher ;
Die oben angegebene wie auch andere bekannte Schmierkopfausführungen, bei .denen der Dichtkörper unverrückbar in der .metallischen Hülse festsitzt, er füllen die genannten Anforderungen nur mangelhaft. Da die dichtende Stirnfläche ;
des Dichtkörpers einer starken Abnützung unterworfen ist, weicht sie mehr und mehr gegenüber der Abstützfläche der Hülse zurück, ,so d ass nach relativ kurzer Gebrauchszeit .kein ,dichter Anschluss mehr zustande kommt. Au sserdem :beschränkt sich die Verformungsmöglichkeit ,des fest :umschlossenen Dichtkörpers auf ;dessen vor derste, dem Nippel ;
Aber auch beim schiefen Aufsetzen des Schmier kopfes wirkt sich die Längsverschiebbarkeit des Dichtkörpers .günstig aus. Die Fähigkeit des An- schmiegens der Dichtfläche 21 an eine schief ste hende Nippel-Stirnfläche leitet sich nicht mehr aus schliesslich aus der Verformbarkeit der vordersten Partie des Dichtkörpers her. Viehmehr nimmt der Dichtkörper 20 über seine ganze Länge an der Verformung teil;
An der Scheibe 28 stützt sich auch die Schraubenfeder 3 ab. Die Vor teile der Ausführung nach Fig. 3 liegen in der ausserordentlich einfachen Fertigung der Einzelteile und :der Montage des :Dichtkörpers, welcher vor dem Auflegen der Scheibe 28 in die Hülse 10 von hinten eingeschoben werden kann. Immerhin lässt sich auch bei den Ausführungsformen nach Fig. 1 und 2 der Dichtkörper dank ;
seiner Elastizität ohne weite- res in die Hülse 10 einschieben.
Lubricating head Lubricating heads in various designs are known on grease guns or similar lubricating devices, which are intended for tight, detachable coupling with undercut lubricating nipples, in particular on motor vehicles. A known construction of a .solchen lubricating head has a metallic sleeve in a dm substantially cylindrical housing, which opposite;
the housing is guided and sealed longitudinally and is under spring pressure. This sleeve forms a circular support surface for the lubricating nipple on the end face, and gripping claws for gripping behind the lubricating nipple are also supported on it.
Since the aforementioned support surface of the metallic sleeve suffers damage during use from impacts and dirt particles, it would .all not guarantee a tight connection between the lubricating head and the nipple. There is therefore a longitudinally drilled sealing body (made of elastic material, which;
has a front sealing surface that is concentric to the support surface.
, The most important requirement that is placed on such a lubricating head is that it creates a completely tight connection with the lubricating nipple, even if it is used frequently over a long period of time. It often happens that such a lubricating head is connected to hundreds of lubricating nipples every day.
If the connection is not tight, then: the lubricant pressed through under high pressure escapes from the side; The consequences are poor lubrication: and loss of lubricant. Then the connection must also be intestinal-tight when the lubricating head is: crooked. On; the nipple is placed. The area of application of a lubrication head depends to a large extent on the maximum permissible angle between the axes of the nipple and: the lubrication head at which the connection is still tight.
The above-mentioned, as well as other known lubricating head designs, in which the sealing body is immovable in the .metallic sleeve, it fulfills the requirements mentioned only inadequately. Since the sealing face;
of the sealing body is subject to severe wear, it recedes more and more in relation to the support surface of the sleeve, so that after a relatively short period of use, no more tight connection is made. In addition: the possibility of deformation of the tightly enclosed sealing body is limited to the one in front of the nipple;
Adjacent area, when the lubrication head is placed at an angle, the sealing surface can therefore only cling to a small angle of inclination and the inclined face of the nipple.
The present invention is based on the object of remedying the deficiencies mentioned effectively and with simple means. The invention is based on a lubricating head, the construction given above.
The lubricating head according to the invention is, however, characterized in that: the sealing body is arranged to be longitudinally displaceable in or bore or sleeve, with the displacement path with respect to the sleeve being limited by two stop surfaces.
Various embodiments of the fiction, according to the lubrication head are explained below in connection with the drawing.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section through a lubricating head mach Odem first embodiment.
FIG. 2 shows the sealing body and the metallic sleeve of a further embodiment in longitudinal section, and FIG. 3 illustrates a further variant in a representation analogous to FIG. 2.
The lubricating head shown in Fig. 1 is constructed as follows: The essentially cylindrical housing 1 is screwed onto the connecting piece 2, through whose longitudinal bore the lubricant is introduced into the lubricating head by a grease gun or the like. In the interior of the housing 1, the metallic sleeve 10 is guided longitudinally slidably.
It is under the pressure of the pretensioned helical spring 3, which is supported on the connecting piece 2 at the rear. Between two flanges 13 and 14 of the sleeve 10 there is an annular seal 6 which prevents the escape of lubricant between the sleeve 10 and the housing 1. Several, in the present case four gripping claws 5 are supported on the front flange 13.
The front, circular end face 12 of the sleeve 10 is designed as a support surface for the lubricating nipple.
The sleeve 10 also contains a longitudinally pierced sealing body 20 on the inside. Its rear end is designed as a sealing lip 25, which during the lubrication process is pressed by the pressurized lubricant against the inner bore 11 of the sleeve 10 and thus the passage of lubricant outside the sealing body along the bore prevented. D; The lubricant remains, so only the path through: the outlet opening 24 at the front end of the sealing body 20.
The front end face 21 of the sealing body 20, which is concentric with the support surface 12, serves as a sealing face opposite the end face of the nipple.
The sealing body 20 is arranged displaceably along the inner bore 11 of the sleeve 10. The displacement path s between the sealing body 20 and the sleeve 10 is given in the present exemplary embodiment in that the sealing body has an annular bead 22 on its outer surface, which engages in an annular groove 15 in the wall of the bore 11, the annular groove being wider than the Bead.
The ring nut 15 thus forms two stop surfaces 16 which limit the movement of the sealing body forwards and backwards.
A substantially similar situation could, of course, also be achieved in that an annular bead is present on the sleeve 10, which protrudes into the bore 11 and engages in a corresponding annular groove on the outside of the sealing body 20, the width of the groove would again be greater by the displacement path s than: the width of the bead.
When the lubrication head is placed on an undercut lubrication nipple 4, the outline of which is shown in phantom in FIG. 1, the front part of the nipple rests on the support surface 12 of the sleeve 10, while the gripping claws 5 engage behind the nipple. The force to embrace the nipple head is brought on by the coil spring 3.
The processes through which: a perfect seal between the end faces of the sealing body 20 and the nipple 4 is achieved are essential. 1 shows the situation in the new state, in which the sealing body 20 has not yet suffered any wear.
From the inserted nipple 4 - while the annular bead 22 is in contact with the rear stop surface 16 - the front-side sealing surface 21 is pushed back under elastic deformation of the sealing body 20, whereby a snug fit is easily achieved.
It should be emphasized, however, that in the case of the structure shown, the sealing effect is not decisively determined by the deformation of the sealing body mentioned. At the beginning of a lubrication process, the sealing body experiences: a forward displacement force due to the viscous or pulpy lubricant, which has to force its way through the narrowed outlet opening 24.
Thanks to the longitudinal displaceability: of the sealing body in the sleeve 10, the sealing body is pushed forward like a piston until the end face 21 lies against the nipple head in a sealing manner on all sides. This beneficial effect comes into its own when the end face 21 is already further back as a result of advanced wear. It has shown,
.that a perfect seal still comes about when the sealing surface 21 is already so far back that it no longer touches the end face of the nipple in the rear end position, i.e. the sealing body.
Particular attention should be paid to the fact that a significant internal pressure on the sealing body 20 in the radial direction, which would increase the friction between the sealing body and the sleeve, can only have an effect when the lubricant passes through the nipple 4 meets resistance. This is the case, but only when the sealing surface 21 is already in full contact with the nipple and the lubricant is prevented from escaping to the side.
It is evident that, with the mode of operation described, the lubricating head shown is still fully functional even with the sealing body being considerably worn, which considerably extends the service life.
But even if the lubricating head is placed at an angle, the longitudinal displaceability of the sealing body has a favorable effect. The ability of the sealing surface 21 to nestle against an inclined nipple end face is no longer derived solely from the deformability of the foremost part of the sealing body. The sealing body 20 takes part in the deformation over its entire length;
For example, while the annular bead 22 rests against the rear stop surface 16 at one point on the circumference, the diametrically opposite part of the sealing body pushes forward at this point - with the annular bead 22 rising from the rear stop surface at those points - until the sealing surface 21 rests everywhere on the oblique face of the nipple 4.
Finally, the displaceability of the sealing body also brings with it the advantage in terms of manufacturing technology that larger tolerances in the dimensions are permitted without the tightness of the connection suffering.
As is well known, especially with parts made of rubber-like materials, such as Vulkollan, it is not easy to maintain precise dimensions during manufacture.
A mobility of the sealing body in the longitudinal direction inside (the metallic sleeve can also be achieved with a slightly different structural gesture, # Hung. An example of this is shown in FIG. 2.
For the sake of simplicity, only the metallic sleeve and the sealing body are shown there. Those parts which in FIG. 2 correspond to those according to FIG. 1 are denoted by the same reference numbers. The sealing body 20 according to FIG. 2 has a .glatte,
cylindrical outer surface. The sealing body lies in a recess 17 of the sleeve bore 11, which recess forms a front stop surface 18 and a rear stop surface 19 for the sealing body. The length of the recess is greater than the length of the cylindrical outer surface of the sealing body, so that there is again a displacement path s in the longitudinal direction of the sleeve 10.
The further embodiment illustrated in FIG. 3 is derived from that according to FIG. In this case, the recess 17 extends backwards to the end face of the sleeve 10 opposite the support surface 12.
On this side the recess is limited by an annular disk 28 resting against the sleeve 10, the bore 30 of which is narrower than the diameter of the recess 17. As a result, the disk 28 forms the rear stop surface 29 for ( the longitudinal displacement s of the sealing body 20. In addition, the disk 28 also performs the function of the rear flange 14 according to FIG. 1 for the ring seal 6.
The helical spring 3 is also supported on the disk 28. The advantages of the embodiment according to FIG. 3 are the extremely simple manufacture of the individual parts and: the assembly of the: sealing body, which can be inserted into the sleeve 10 from behind before the disc 28 is placed. After all, the sealing body can also be used in the embodiments according to FIGS. 1 and 2 thanks to;
its elasticity can be pushed into the sleeve 10 without further ado.
