Fig. 10 is a longitudinal section of a control b_Ioc for the punch of FIG. 6. FIG. 11 is another longitudinal section of the control unit, the section being taken along a plane different from that of the section of FIG. 10.
. Fig. 12 is a view - similar to FIG. 7 - a variant of a sleeve.
The perforator of fig. 1 is a percussion tool and comprises a cylindrical housing 1 closed at one end by a circular plate 2 and housing at its opposite end a valve 3. A hydraulic supply line 4 passes through a control valve 4A-actuated by a trigger to enter the housing 1 where it introduces pressurized liquid from a hydraulic unit 5 to the valve 3. A return line 6 = from the housing 1 to bring low pressure liquid from the valve 3 to the unit 5.
This unit 5 contains a hydraulic pump driven by a motor to discharge the liquid received - from ,: line 6 in line 4 at a high pressure, for example 70 kg / cm2. Handles 7 extend from opposite sides of that end of the housing containing the valve 1. High and low pressure accumulators 8 and 9 are mounted on the end of the housing 1, adjacent to the handles 7.
A tubular protrusion 10 extends from the plate 2 coaxially with the housing 1. The free end of the protrusion 10 is threaded to receive a retaining nut 11 which freely secures a pick head 12 to the puncher. This head has the shape of a bar of hexagonal section whose end 12A is appoinfe and flat at its opposite end 12B.
A collar 13 integral with the head 12 is arranged between the free end of the projection 10 and a rib 11A of the nut 11. The free end of the projection 10 and the rib 11A form stops which cooperate with the collar 13 to limit the axial movement of the pick head 12 relative to the punch. Reinforcement gussets 14 are connected to the plate 2 and to the projection 10.
The valve 3 has four ports or openings (not shown) in its outer surface and a valve member (not shown) driven by a hydraulic motor which swaps the connections of the first opening and the second with the third and fourth openings between a first connection mode where the first opening is connected to the third and the second to the fourth, and a second connection mode where the first opening is connected to the fourth and the second to the third. Line 4 leads to the first opening and line 6 starts from the second opening.
The third opening communicates with a pitch 15 in a cylinder body 16, while the fourth opening communicates with a pitch 17 which is also in the body 16. The hydraulic motor in the valve 3 is driven by liquid supplied by the cylinder. line 4, the driving liquid passing through an adjustable orifice (not shown).
The body 16 has one end of a flange 16A, the periphery of which is fixed to the interior wall of the housing 1. The body 16 has a bore 18 having shoulders 19 and 20 formed at places where it changes in diameter. A cylindrical sleeve 21 is disposed in the part of the bore located between the shoulders 19 and 20, this sleeve being fixed axially by stuffing-boxes 22 and 23 through which passes a piston rod 24 carrying a piston 25 cooperating with the cylindrical liner 21.
The stuffing box 22 abuts against the shoulder 19 and a locking ring 26 is screwed into the larger diameter end of the bore 18 to rest against the stuffing box 23 and hold the assembly of the cable gland 22 and 23 as well as the sleeve 21 in place in bore 18.
The passage 15 communicates with an annular groove 27 formed in the bore, while the passage 17 communicates with an annular groove 28, also formed in the bore 18. Radial openings 29 pass through the sleeve 21 to put in communication. the groove 27 with the spacer 30 in the sleeve 21 situated between the piston 25 and the stuffing box 23. Openings 31 made in the sleeve 21 put the groove 28 into communication with the space 32 in this sleeve 21 between the piston 25 and the stuffing box 22.
An internally and externally threaded nut 33 is attached to a threaded end 34 of the piston rod 24. The end 34 occupies one end of the bore of the nut 33 while a threaded end 35 of a plug. batter 36 is secured in the other end of the bore of nut 33. A ring 37 is screwed onto the outside of nut 33 and is held in place by a lock washer 38 which is also screwed onto. the nut 33. One end of a compression spring 39 rests against the ring 37 while the other end rests against the flange 18.
The hydraulic accumulator 8 has a body 40 (Fig. 4) containing a piston 41 mounted in a bore 42 formed in the body 40. The piston 41 is formed on a rod 43 carrying a plate 44 disposed in a bore 45 of the body. 40, this bore being closed by an end cap 46 having air ports 47. A spring 48 formed of stacked washers 49 is disposed between the plate 44 and the cap 46. Adjacent washers 49 of the stack are curved in opposite. The bore 43 communicates through an opening 50 with the first port which is connected to the high-pressure pipe 4.
The accumulator 9 comprises a body 51 (fig. 5) having a cylindrical bore 52 in which a piston 53 is arranged, the latter being mounted on a rod 54 which passes through an end cap 55 ironing one end of the piston. The bore 52. The opposite end of the bore 52 communicates through a port 56 with the second lumen which is connected to the conduit 6. The cap 55 is crossed by an air port 57. A spring 58 between the cap 55 and the udder 53 pushes the latter towards the opposite end of the bore 52.
When using the described punch, the handles 7 are gripped by hand and the punch is maneuvered into a vertical position as shown in fig. 2. Pressurized liquid is supplied from unit 5 through line 4 and through the expansion actuated control valve (not shown) to valve 3 which alternately supplies high pressure liquid to passages 17 and 17. 15.
When liquid is supplied to passage 17, fluid enters space 32 through groove 28 and openings 31 and forces piston 25 toward stuffing box 23, so that pad 36 hits end 12B and releases. a shock to the head 12 of the peak. As the piston 25 moves towards the stuffing box 23, liquid escapes from the space 30 through the ports 29, the groove 27, the passage 15, the valve 3 and the line 6.
When the pad 36 hits the head 1.2, the valve 3 reverses the connections between the passages 15 and 17 and the conduits 4 and 6, so that liquid is forced into the space 30 and escapes from the space 32 , the piston thus moving towards the stuffing box 22 compressing the spring 39. Before the piston reaches the opening 31, the valve 3 passes the liquid from the step 15 to the passage 17 and the cycle repeats. The frequency with which the phases of the cycle are repeated is determined by adjusting the size of the adjustable orifice.
The pressure of liquid supplied by the line 4, which is in direct communication with the opening 50, forces the piston to move towards an exhaust dependent on the pressure of the liquid from the position of FIG. 4 towards the end cap 46 against the action of the spring 48. Similarly, the pressure of the liquid returned to the unit 5 by the line 6 is communicated through the opening 56 to the piston 53 which is moved against the action of the spring 52. The pressure variations in the conduits 4 and 6 appearing during the operation of the valve 3 and the piston 25, as well as the plug 21, are reduced by the accumulators 8 and 9.
The perforator of fig. 6 comprises a cylindrical housing 101 at one end of which is fixed a control unit 102 provided with handles 103. The other end of the housing 101 is closed by an annular plate 104 carrying a tubular extension 105. Reinforcing gussets 106 are attached to it. extension 105 and plate 104. A pick head retaining lever 107 is mounted on gussets 106 to freely connect a pick head 108 to the punch, the end of the pick. this head 108 passing through the tubular extension 105. The head 108 is in the form of a hexagonal bar which is pointed at its end (not shown) engaging the work and flat at its opposite end 108A.
A collar 109 is formed on the head 108, this collar being disposed between the free end of the projection 105 and the lever 107. The free end of the extension 105 and of the lever 107 form stops which cooperate with the collar 109. to limit an axial displacement of the head 108 relative to the perforator. The lever 107 is in the form of a loop 107A pivotally attached by means of a pin 107B to one of the ribs 106. The loop has an opening which is wider near the pin 107B than at a point. away from that ankle. The collar 109 can pass through the wide part of the loop but not the narrower part. A stop urged by a spring 107C is carried by another rib 106.
With the stop 107C and the lever 107 in the position shown in solid lines, this stop 107C prevents the lever 107 from tilting to the position where the collar 109 can pass through the opening in the loop 107. The collar 109 does not can pass through loop 107A only when lever 107 is in the position shown in phantom.
A valve is disposed in the housing 101 (Fig. 6A); it comprises a body 110 fixed in the bore of the housing 101 adjacent to the control unit 102. A sleeve 111 is fixed in the bore of the body 110 and has a rotary bush 112 mounted therein. this. A wide annular groove 113 is formed in the central portion of the bore of the body 110, and narrower grooves 114, 115 are formed in this bore on either side of the groove 113.
The sleeve 111 has four series of lights passing through it, four lights 116 (fig. 7) in the first series, four lights 117 in the second series, four lights 118 in the third series and four lights 119 </ B > in the fourth series. The axes of the lumens in each series extend in the same plane and are spaced around the axis of the sleeve 111 at equal angles. The lights 117 are aligned longitudinally with the lights 119 and the lights 116 with the lights 118.
The slots 116 and 118 are angularly spaced about the axis of the sleeve 111 by 45o from the slots 117 and 119. The plane of the longitudinal section of FIG. 7 is taken at 450 around the axis of the sleeve 111 from the plane of the section of FIG. 1. The rotary bush 112 has in its outer surface a first series of four longitudinal grooves 120 and a second series of four longitudinal grooves 121. The grooves of each series are spaced at equal angles around the longitudinal axis of the bush. 112.
These ends of the grooves 120 which are the furthest from the grooves 121 have slots 122 cooperating therewith to bring the grooves 120 into communication with the interior of the sleeve 112. Similarly, the grooves 121 at their ends. more distant from the grooves 120 have slots 123 cooperating with the latter and which bring these grooves into communication with the interior of the sleeve 112. A piston 124 is disposed in the sleeve 112 and carried by a rod 125. The part 125A of the rod 125, which is to the left (fig. 6) of the piston 124, has a larger diameter than the part 125B of the rod 125.
The free end of part -125A is inserted into a stuffing box 126 which is fixed in block 102, while part 125B passes through a stuffing box 127 fixed to the valve body 110. Thrust bearings 128 are provided. between the cable glands 126 and 127 and the adjacent ends of the rotary bush 112. An extension 112A of the left end (fig. 6) of the bush 112 includes a toothed wheel 129 of an oil motor 130, of the type gear, fixed thereto by a key 131. The wheel 129 meshes with pinions 132, only one of which is visible in FIG. 6A.
Each pinion 132 is mounted on a pin 133 via a bearing 134, the pins being carried by the valve body 110. The side faces of the wheels 129 and 132 cooperate on one side with the end face 110A. of the valve body 110, and on the opposite faces, with an end face 102A (Fig. 10) of the block 102. The wheels 129 and 132 are disposed in a plate 130A of the gear motor. The free end of the part 125B of the piston rod 125 comprises a mass 135 fixed thereto and having a face 135A intended to meet the end 108A of the spike head 135. The collar 136 </ B> has holes 137 which pass right through it, tubes 138 being threaded with play in these holes 137.
In fig. 6, only a hole 137 and a tube 138 are visible. One end of each tube 138 is attached to a piece 139 protruding from the valve body 110 to which it is attached. Each part 109 has a sleeve 140 screwed onto it. A helical spring 141 is associated with each tube 138, one end of this spring resting against the collar 136 and the other end against the sleeve 140. The opposite end of each tube 138 is fixed to a tubular member 142 mounted on the plate 104 by means of a bolt 143.
The tubular member 142 passes through holes made in the peripheral part of an annular plate 144. A spring 145, formed by a stack of curved discs 146, is carried by each tubular member 142 between the plates 104 and 144. The springs 145 serve to push the plate 144 against the shoulders 142A of the tubular members 142.
The fi-. 10 and 11 are sections of control block 102 taken from the opposite side of the tool, compared to the view of FIG. 6. The face 102A in each of fig. 10 and 11 is therefore on the left, while in FIG. 6, it is to the right of block 102. This block 102 has an inlet passage 147 intended to be connected to a high pressure supply line (not shown).
The passage 147 (fig. 10) communicates by a slide valve 148, lights (not shown) and an oil filter 149 (fig. 11) with a passage 150 which, for its part, communicates by ducts (not shown). ) with groove 113 (fig. 6). The groove 113 communicates by passages (not shown), a passage 151 and a throttle valve 152 with a passage 153 which leads to supply pockets of the gear-type oil motor 130.
The exhausts of the engine 130 and the grooves 114 and 115 communicate through the passages (not shown) with a passage 154 (Fig. 10) which leads to an outlet port 155 intended to be connected to an exhaust pipe. The step 151 applies oil at the same pressure as that inside the groove 113 to the piston 156 of an accumulator 157. The piston 156 is mounted on a rod 158 carrying a spring 159 formed by a stack of curved elastic discs 160 disposed in a cylindrical chamber 161 which is coaxial with the cylindrical housing 162 enclosing the piston 156 and which is of greater diameter than this housing.
One end of the spring 154 abuts against a piston 163 fixed in the block 102 while the other end of the spring pushes the piston 156 into the housing 162. A helical groove 164 is formed on the cylindrical surface of the piston 156 and extends. from one end of this piston to the other. Room 161 communicates by lights (not shown) with passage 154.
The valve 148 is opened by pressing an udder 165 which is fixed to one end of this valve in the block 102 against the action of a res out 166 which presses on the other end of the valve 148 to push it. in its closed position. A lever 167, having a buffer 167A to cooperate with the piston 167, is pivotally mounted on the block 102 (see fig. 6) and serves, when in the position shown in this figure. , to maintain the plunger 165 in the position where the valve 148 is open.
With the outlet opening 155 connected to an exhaust duct and the inlet opening 147 connected to a high pressure oil supply line, the described perforator operates as follows: depressing the piston 165 into the block 102, high pressure oil is supplied into the annular groove 113. This oil flows from said groove through the passage 151, the throttle valve 152 and the passage 153 to the engine 130 , to drive the latter so that the gears 129 and 132 rotate.
The bush 112 being fixed to the toothed wheel 129, rotates around the longitudinal axis of the perforator: With the parts in the position shown in FIG. 6, pressurized oil is supplied from the groove 113 through the lumens 117 to the groove 120. The oil flows from the grooves 120 through the lumens 122 to the annular space 168 which exists between the groove. bore of the sleeve 112 and the part 125A of the piston rod.
Oil flows from the space 169 which is between part 125B and the socket bore 112, through the ports 123 to the slots 121, and from there through the ports 119 to the annular groove 115 which leads to passage 154 and to the outlet opening 155. The oil in the space 169 is thus connected to the exhaust, as the pressurized oil is supplied to space 168. Piston 124 therefore moves mass 135 to the right (Fig. 6), to meet adjacent end 108A of head 108 and impart shock to the head. this one.
When the motor 130 has rotated the sleeve 112 by an eighth of a revolution, the grooves 120 bring the space 168 into communication, through the slots 116 (not visible in FIG. 6A), with the groove 114 which communicates. with the outlet 155. At the same time, the grooves 121 bring the space 169 into communication, through openings 119 (not visible in fig. 6A), with the groove 113. Thus pressurized oil is brought to the space 169 and the space 168 is connected to the exhaust. The piston 124 therefore moves the mass 135 away from the peak 108 and thus compresses the springs 141.
In another eighth of a revolution of the socket 112, the mass 135 is again driven to meet the peak 108 and in another eighth of revolution, the mass 135 is displaced. in the opposite way. Thus, the socket 112, continuing to rotate, oscillates the mass 135 and imparts a series of blows to the peak 108. The springs 141 store energy as the mass 135 moves away from the peak 108, this energy being released. subsequently when the springs relax during the working stroke of the mass 135 to meet the peak 108. The area of the piston on which the hydraulic fluid acts is greater on the right of the piston 124 than on its left face (fig. 6A).
Holes 116 and 118 are larger in diameter than holes 117 and 119. Slots 120 and 121 are all the same circumferential width. The valve formed by sleeves 111 and 112 is therefore covered when the piston is moved from right to left (Fig. 6A) for a greater part of the cycle than when the piston is moved in the opposite direction. The movement of the piston 124 in the latter direction is however faster than its movement from right to left, due to the action of springs 141.
The frequency of strokes imparted to the pick head 108 can be changed by changing the rotational speed of the socket 112. This is done by adjusting the throttle valve 152, which changes the speed of the motor 130.
The accumulator 157 is provided to decrease pressure fluctuations in the high pressure supply line. The groove 164 on the cylindrical face of the accumulator piston 162 places the high pressure side in communication with the chamber 161 which is connected to the outlet 155. A pressure rise in the passage 151 is absorbed by the movement of the piston 156. against the action of the spring 159, and by increased leakage along the groove 164 resulting from a reduction in the effective length of this groove as the accumulator piston 156 moves in the chamber 161.
The springs 145 (FIG. 6) serve as shock absorbers to absorb the energy of the mass 135 in the event of an exceeding of this mass occurring if the peak head 108 is not in contact with a solid material. The mass 135 carries rubber buffers 135B which can come into contact with the valve body 110 and the stuffing box 127, in the event of the mass 135 being exceeded in the opposite direction.
Fig. 12 shows a modification that can be made to slots 117 and 119. In this figure, these slots are in the form of isocelial triangles with the bases of the triangles parallel to the axis of the sleeve 111 and the vertices of the triangles directed in the direction of rotation of the sleeve 112.
Thus, as the socket 112 rotates, the tops of the ports 117 and 119 are exposed first and oil flows through these ports, during the working stroke of the punch at a speed closer to the speed. piston 124 and mass 135 only when circular openings 117 and 119 are used.
