Process for the production of azo dyes The invention relates to a process for the production of azo dyes by reacting a diazotized aromatic amine with a coupling component, characterized in that the diazo components and / or coupling components used are at least one group of the formula
EMI0001.0010
contain, in which R is an optionally substituted hydrocarbon radical and R 'is hydrogen or an optionally substituted hydrocarbon radical,
and that both components are free from groups capable of forming metal complexes.
The new azo dyes can be obtained with advantage by adding aromatic amines, which may have a group of formula (I) at least once, by known methods, preferably indirectly in the presence of a mineral acid such as. B.
Hydrochloric acid, if necessary with the addition of organic solvents, - such as glacial acetic acid or alcohol, and the diazo compound in weakly acidic or alkaline medium with the addition of acid-binding agents such as sodium acetate, sodium formate, sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate with a coupling component, which also couples at least once a group of formula (I)
may have. The solubility and the coloring behavior of the new dyes can be improved by adding phosphates such as sodium metaphosphate or sodium pyrophosphate, as well as leveling agents.
It is also possible to diazotize an equivalent amount of a mixture of 2 or more amines at the same time or in succession, and to couple in an analogous manner with a coupling component, in which case mixtures of dyes which are particularly interesting from a coloring point of view may be obtained.
The new dyes dye animal fibers such as wool and silk, as well as synthetic polyamide fibers and leather in lively shades. The colors do not matter, lightfast and wetfast, such as B. sweat, alkali and acid fast and have very good water, wash, rub and milled fastness. They are also suitable for combination dyeing.
As acidic wool dyes from this new class of dyes, they reserve cotton and fibers made from regenerated cellulose as well as acetate silk, synthetic fibers from the polyacrylonitrile and polyester series.
In the following examples, parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
Example 1 20.2 parts of finely ground 1-aminobenzene-3-sulphonsäuremethoxyamid are stirred into a mixture of 50 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid, 100 parts of water and 150 parts of ice and slowly running in a solution of 7.6 parts of sodium nitrite in 30 parts of water are diazotized. Then destroy the excess nitrous acid with 0,
2 parts of aminosulfonic acid and filter the diazo solution. The filtrate is placed in a well-stirred solution of 25.8 parts of 2-amino-8-hydroxynaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid in 500 parts of water and 8 parts of concentrated sodium hydroxide solution. After 3 hours, the coupling is complete at 10-25. The coupling can be accelerated considerably by gradually adding about 30 parts of sodium acetate. The pH of the solution is around 4.5.
The mass is heated to 75, the monoazo dye formed is salted out and the whole is left to stir cold overnight. The next day the precipitate is sucked off, washed with dilute sodium chloride solution and dried in vacuo at 80-100. The new red wool dye is a dark red powder that dissolves in water with a red color and dyes wool in lively, level red shades with good fastness to light and good perspiration.
If instead of 20.2 parts of 1-aminobenzene-3-sulfonic acid methoxyamide, 23.6 parts of 1-amino-2-chlorobenzene-5-sulfonic acid methoxyamide or 26.8 parts of 1-amino-2-chlorobenzene-, 5-sulfonic acid butoxyamide are used dyes with similar properties are obtained.
Example 2 23.6 parts of 1-antino-2-chlorobenzene-5-sulfonic acid methoxyamide are diazotized as in Example 1 and mixed with 35.7 parts of 1-hydroxy-7- (2 ', 4' , 6'-trimethylphenyl) - aminonaphthalene - 3-sulfonic acid coupled as described in Example 1. A red-brown powder is obtained which dissolves in water with a red color and dyes wool in lively, level red shades of good lightfastness and good wet fastness.
With 20.2 parts of 1-aminobenzene-3-sulfonic acid methoxyamide or 25 parts of 1-amino-2-chlorobenzene-5-sulfonic acid ethoxyamide instead of 23.6 parts of 1- amino-2-chlorobenzene-5-sulfonic acid-methoxy amide gives dyes with similarly good properties.
Example 3 The diazo compound, which is obtainable by diazotizing 21.6 parts of 1-aminobenzene-4-sulfonic acid-N-methoxy-N-methylamide, is dissolved in a solution of 27.6 parts of 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone-3'-sulfonic acid sodium are allowed to run in, the pH being maintained at 8 to 9 and the temperature at 3 to 6 by adding sodium carbonate. After the coupling has ended, the dyestuff which has precipitated out is filtered off and dried.
It dyes wool in level, lightfast and wetfast yellow tones.
Dyes with similarly good properties are obtained when instead of 27.6 parts of 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone-3'-sulfonic acid sodium, 32.6 parts of 1- (-2'-naphthyl) -3- methyl-5-pyrazolone-5'-sulfonic acid sodium or 1- (2'-naphthyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone-6'-sulfonic acid sodium is used.
The following table contains other dyes which can be obtained according to the information in Examples 1, 2 and 3 and are characterized by diazo and coupling components and the color of the dyeings on wool.
