Gemäss der Erfindung ist ein mit Druckfluidum betriebener Kolbenmotor, bei dem unter dem Druck eines Druckmediums ein zweiter Kolben in einem Zylinder verschoben wird und an dem Zylinder eine Zuführung vorgesehen ist, in der sich ein Einlass- ventil befindet, welches normalerweise in der Schliess= Stellung ist und durch Steuermittel geöffnet wird;
Piston motor operated with pressurized fluid The invention relates to a piston motor such as can be used in particular in tools which serve the purpose of pressing an electrical connecting terminal onto the end of a cable.
In such engines, it is desirable that a certain pressure in the piston cylinder is achieved before the supply of the pressure medium to the cylinder is switched off and the medium is removed from the cylinder again. This is particularly the case when it comes to tools of the type mentioned above.
When pressing electrical connection terminals at the ends of a cable, the connection terminal Ver must be pressed in a predetermined manner so that the desired success is achieved. If the connecting terminal is only partially pressed on and not to the extent intended by the manufacturer, the electrical connection, although it looks satisfactory at first, does not have defects that appear directly, which manifest themselves in poor mechanical resistance and poor electrical contact. Such errors cannot easily be recognized by the operator.
It is therefore necessary to construct the tool so that the generation of the prescribed pressure on the connecting terminal and the pressing die of the tool does not depend on the working methods of the operator.
According to the invention is a piston engine operated with pressure fluid, in which a second piston is displaced in a cylinder under the pressure of a pressure medium and a feed is provided on the cylinder in which there is an inlet valve which is normally in the closed position and is opened by control means;
characterized in that a locking mechanism and a control mechanism are provided, the locking mechanism holding the valve closure body open when the latter has been controlled to open the feed line, while the control mechanism only decouples the valve closure body from the locking mechanism causes when the pressure in the cylinder has reached a certain value.
In a particular use of the piston motor as part of a tool for calling electrical connecting terminals on line wires, the tool comprising a movable die part which is actuated by a piston, the locking mechanism cooperates with part of a valve, which has a valve closure body and is held in the open position when, for the purpose of opening the supply line, the valve has been actuated, whereby the locking mechanism is disconnected from the said part,
when a pressure reducing valve is activated, which occurs when the pressure in the cylinder has reached a certain value, for the purpose that the fluid pressure on the die does not decrease before the die has generated the predetermined pressure.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawings. In these show: Fig.l a partially sectioned schematic representation of an embodiment of the piston motor in application to a pressure tool, Fig. 2 is a sectional individual representation of the tool shown in Fig. 1, wherein the one working position of the parts is shown and for the sake of greater clarity.
a two-dimensional reproduction is selected, FIG. 3 shows a representation similar to FIG. 2, a second working position of the parts being shown. In Fig. 1, the hand-to-hand tool 2 consists of a C-shaped head part 4 on which the fixed die part 6 and the movable die part 8 are provided; the movable die part 8 is arranged at the end of a movable bolt 10.
A piston 12 which is displaceable in a cylinder 16 is connected to the bolt 10 and this piston is normally pressed down by a spring 14. The piston 12 is arranged so that it is moved upward in FIG. 1 when the pressure medium, which is preferably a hydraulic fluid, is passed into the cylinder 16 via the hose 24 and the connector 22 provided at the end of the hose; the connector 22 is screwed to the cylinder 16 at 20. The connection of the hose 24 to the connecting piece 22 is only indicated schematically.
A handle 18 is provided on the cylinder 16 and a trigger lever initiates the pressing process, as will be discussed in more detail below.
The other end of the hose 24 is via the connecting piece 26 with the bore 30 of a cylinder 28 in connection, which forms the high pressure side of a pneumatic hydraulic booster arrangement.
A hydraulic pressure medium such as oil is located in the bore 30 so that when the piston 32 is moved in the bore 30, the piston 12 is pushed upward by the fluid pressure.
The pneumatic low-pressure side of the pressure booster consists of a cylinder 34 in which a piston 36 is displaceable. The piston 36 is pressed by the spring 40 against the rear wall 38 of the cylinder 34. The spring 40 acts against an annular membrane 44, the inner edge and the outer edge of the membrane being pressed in at the points 46 and 48 between the cylinder 34 and the base part 29 of the cylinder 28. The base part 29 has an annular groove 31 which, together with the membrane 44, forms a reservoir 42 for the hydraulic fluid. The reservoir 42 communicates with the bore 30 via the channel 50.
The channel 50 is designed so that it is only released by the piston 32 when the latter is in the fully retracted position, while the channel 50 is closed by the piston in all other positions thereof. In this way, the high fluid pressure created in the bore 30 does not enter the reservoir 42. When the piston 32 is fully withdrawn from the bore 30, hydraulic fluid enters the reservoir 32 with the diaphragm 44 collapsing its outermost, not indented position.
When the piston 32 moves into the bore, the membrane 44 is pressed in by the spring 40, so that the liquid of the reservoir 42 is pressed through the channel 50 into the bore 30. If the piston 32 continues to move in the bore, the channel 50 is closed, as already stated. In this way, losses of hydraulic fluid are avoided.
A mechanism for controlling the supply of compressed air to the cylinder 34 and for moving the piston 36 consists of a valve 54 which is arranged on the outside of the rear wall 38 of the cylinder 34. This control mechanism will be explained in detail below with reference to FIGS. 2 and 3.
A screw nipple 58 is provided in an opening 56 on the valve housing as a feed for the compressed air, the end of the hose 60 being connected to a compressed air device.
A channel 62 leads from the inlet opening 56 into the interior and opens into a chamber 64 which forms part of a bore extending through the valve housing. This bore is closed by a screw plug 66.
An inlet valve body 70, which has a conical front part, is slidably disposed in the chamber 64 and acts against a sealing ring 68 which is provided on the shoulder 68 'of the bore. A section of the bore 72 is attached to the shoulder 68 ', which has a smaller diameter than the chamber 64 and opens into an intermediate chamber 74, which in turn communicates with an opening in the wall 38 via a channel 80, so that Compressed air is fed to the cylinder 34 when the valve with the valve closure body 70 is opened.
The valve closure body 70 is normally in its closed position, in which the ring 68 between the shoulder 68 'and the valve closure body 70, as FIG. 2 shows, is pressed together: this results from the compressed air that is supplied at 56 and at the lower surface 82 of the valve closure body 70 acts.
The chamber 74 is connected to a larger chamber 84 in which a piston 86 having an axial bore 101 is movable. The middle part 86 'of the piston 86 has a slightly smaller diameter than the chamber 84, but has a slightly larger diameter than the rest of the piston 86. The radially extending surface 88 of the middle part 86' is the compressed air via the channels 89 and 91, the first channel leading to the inlet port 56. The smaller diameter part 90 of the piston 86 is arranged axially displaceably in the bush 92, which is provided in the upper part of the chamber 84.
An washer 94 and a spring ring 96 are provided on the wall of the chamber 84 and prevent the piston 86 from moving beyond the position shown in FIG. 2. A lug 98 is smaller in diameter than part 90 and extends outward; at 99 a shoulder is formed so that the end of part 98 has an even smaller diameter. The extension 98 and the end part 100 extend outward from the valve housing when the piston 86 is in the position shown in FIG.
The other radially extending surface 104 of the part 86 'merges into a protruding part 102 which has a smaller diameter than the part 86'. The part 102 extends into the chamber 74. In the section 86 'there is a channel 106 of small cross-section extending in the axial direction between the two aforementioned surfaces, the channel 106 having a nozzle 106' forms. Compressed air is supplied at 56 and passes through the channel so that the compressed air acts against both surface 104 and surface 88.
As can be seen from FIGS. 2 and 3, the surface 104 is larger than the surface 88, so that the piston 86 is pressed upwards when the pressure acting against the surfaces 88 and 104 is the same. An opening 108 communicates with the chamber 84 and further communicates with the opening 110 which forms the outlet opening; the vent hose 112 is connected to the latter opening by means of a screw nipple. The other end of the hose 112 is connected to the handle 18 of the tool 2 by means of the nipple 114.
The handle 18 has a longitudinal channel 116, which has a larger cross-section at the lower end 118 and in which a ball valve 120 is seen before. A rod 122 is provided in the channel 116 so that the upper end 124 acts against a pivotable trigger 126; When the trigger is pressed in so that it rotates clockwise, the bolt 122 is pressed down so that it lifts the ball of the valve 120 and compressed air can escape from the chamber 84 through the outlet opening 121 of the handle 18.
When the chamber 84 is vented, the piston 86 moves downward because the nozzle 106 'of the channel 106 has such a small diameter that the air pressure at the surfaces 88 and 104 is no longer completely the same. As a result of this downward movement of the piston 86, the conical upper end 78 of the valve closure body 70 enters the bore 101 and closes the same, the valve closure body 70 being pressed down practically at the same time as that shown in FIG Takes a stand; compressed air can then pass into the channel 80 via the supply opening 56, the channel 62, the bore 72 and the chamber 74.
In this way, compressed air reaches the cylinder 34 via the channel 80, the piston 36 is moved in the direction of the cylinder 28, the piston 32 entering the bore 30 and the pressure fluid located in the same direction the movable die part 8 moved to the die part 6.
From Figure 3 it can be seen that the piston 86 is automatically locked in its lower position by the L-shaped pawl which comprises the arms 128 and 134 and is hinged at 130 between the projections 130 'of the valve housing part. In the upper position of the piston 36, the arm 128 is kept in tension in the clockwise direction by the spring 129, so that the arm 134 acts against the cylindrical outer surface of the part 98.
When the piston 86 moves downward, the arm 134 engages the shoulder 99 so that the piston 86 is held in the lower position. In this way, the inlet valve 70, which supplies the compressed air, is locked in the open position until the arm 134 disengages from the shoulder 99, as will be discussed in more detail.
A piston 140 has a forked end 136 which cooperates with the free end of the arm 128 to. The piston 140 goes through the courage ter 138 into the chamber 138 'of the valve housing part 54 and has a piston 144 at the lower end.
The piston 144 is normally pressed down by a compression spring 145, so that a conical valve closure body 146 acts against the outlet opening of the channel 149. The channel 149 is connected to a channel 148, which in turn leads to the interior of the cylinder 34 via a channel 38 ′ in the wall 38. The pressure of the spring 145 is adjusted by means of the nut 138 so that, when the air pressure in the cylinder 34 has reached a certain value, which ensures the correct pressing of the connecting clamp, the piston 140 is pushed upwards so that the closure part 146 is lifted off and the pawl 128, 134 is rotated counterclockwise.
The arm 134 then disengages from the shoulder 99 so that the piston 98 moves upward under the action of the compressed air and the supply of compressed air to the cylinder 34 ceases and, under the influence of the spring 14, the die part 8 moves away from the die part 6.
The control mechanism also expediently contains a safety valve which consists of the piston 150 which is pushed upwards by a spring 150 '; the piston is movable in the chamber 121 of the valve housing. If excessive pressure develops in the assembly and the valve closure body 146 has not yet lifted, the piston 150 is moved downward so that the outlet line 151 'is released.
The operation of the tool is as follows: The operator inserts a terminal and the cable between the die parts 6 and 8 which have not yet been processed and then presses the trigger 126. As a result, air is released from the chamber 84, so that the piston 86 and the valve closure body 70 are moved downwards and compressed air is passed via the channel 80 to the cylinder 34; the piston 12 then moves upward under the pressure of the hydraulic fluid and moves the die part 8 towards the die part 6.
The piston 86 is automatically locked in its lower position by the ratchet mechanism. Even if the trigger 126 is released immediately after it is depressed, the supply of compressed air to the cylinder 34 is not interrupted.
The pressure of the spring 145 is set so that at the earliest when the arrangement has reached its equilibrium state and there is even pressure in it, the piston 140 is moved upwards and the arm 134 disengages from the shoulder 99, so that the valve body 70 then is moved upward by the pressurized air acting on surface 82. The compressed air is discharged from the cylinder 34 through the bore 101 of the piston 86 and the conical upper part 78 of the valve closure body 70 is lifted from the lower end of the bore 101 when the piston 86 moves upwards.
Therefore, the die cannot open until a certain air pressure is reached in the channel 149 and the cylinder 34. Therefore, if, for example, the compressed air supply to the tool is reduced, if the compressor does not work properly or if a lot of compressed air is drawn from other tools, the die remains partially closed until a pressure is reached that sufficiently closes the die.
If the die stops in only a partially closed position, this is an indication for the operator that the pressure is so low that a connecting clamp is not pressed on with sufficient pressure. In this case, the arm 128 can be lifted off by hand and the die can be opened.
If the trigger 126 is held in the depressed position, the die parts will close and remain closed until the trigger is released again. When the pressing process has been carried out, the piston 140 moves upward and the arm 134 lifts off the piston 86. This is held against the end 78 of the closure body 70, since compressed air acts against the surface 88. When the trigger is released, the air pressure against surface 104 decreases and the lower surface of part 102 is released.
The loss of compressed air which results in the arrangement when the trigger is operated is essentially limited to the air in the hose 112 and the small amount which flows through the channel 106 during the downward movement of the piston 86.
