Device for sealing shafts in filter devices Filtration devices in which the individual filter elements are mounted on a vertical or horizontal axis that is rotated during or after the filtration require shaft seals for the axis mentioned, which counteract the space containing the unfiltered product the one containing the clear filtrate is separated. Various demands are made of these rotating shaft seals. Firstly, no turbid matter should flow into the clear filtrate; secondly, it should also run as smoothly as possible in the dry state (e.g.
B. where the filter cake is dried in the filter itself) can be rotated, and thirdly, the seal should work for a long time without maintenance, as it is often in a difficult-to-access location. Ordinary stuffing box packings are not suitable for the purpose mentioned, as they have to be readjusted from time to time and are also not absolutely tight.
Rubber ring seals, as these have recently been widely used in technology (O-rings), are also unsuitable, as they cannot be rotated when dry.
According to the invention, the sealing element consists of a textile fabric pressed against the shaft.
Since fabrics are available today that have a very low frictional resistance on a sliding surface even when dry, such as B.
Fabric made of polytetrafluoroethylene (Teflon), the seal can also be operated dry.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is explained below with reference to the drawing.
1 of the drawing shows the described wet len seal in section. The flange a rotating with respect to the shaft e carries the seal housing g, in which the actual seal d is attached at points b and b1. The seal d is pushed onto the shaft by means of the spring c. The purpose of the elevations f on the housing g is to carry the spring during the assembly of the seal, so that it can be easily attached.
The textile fabric advantageously encloses the shaft to be sealed off like a hose. The pressing of the fabric against the shaft, as mentioned, is done by means of a spring or an elastic band.
The seal can either be attached to the stationary part or to the rotating part of the filter - depending on the design of the filter itself.
The seal can be made absolutely hermetic by impregnation with a suitable plastic, which is not absolutely necessary in the case of the filter, since the liquid is filtered when it seeps through the fabric.
