Si l'on imagine (fig.
Conveyor for granular or powdery materials
The present invention relates to a conveyor for granular or pulverulent materials, such as cereals, coal, cement, etc.
When such a conveyor is intended to take up the materials placed in a pile on a ground or floor, the corresponding end of the conveyor is immersed in the mass of materials, the screw being of course uncovered over a certain length. This results in a risk of accident for people moving around the screw and who may be tempted to immerse their hand in the material in the vicinity of the screw and are exposed to a cut of the fingers by contact with the edge of the casing tube. fixed that surrounds the screw, or with the edge of the telescopic valve optionally mounted on the end of the tube.
To eliminate this risk, it has already been proposed, either to interrupt the screw to the right of the edge of the tube, or to provide the screw in this zone with a profiled guard element, so that in contact with it, the finger be driven out of the screw before reaching the edge of the tube. These two arrangements have a double drawback. They reduce the flow rate of the material transported and, on the other hand, being provided at a longitudinally fixed point of the screw, they prevent the use of a telescopic valve allowing the adjustment of the material flow rate.
The transporter according to the invention makes it possible to eliminate these drawbacks. This conveyor is characterized in that at the inlet end of the conveyor the edge of the tubular casing, adjacent to the exposed part of the screw is profiled along a curve such that at each of its points its tangent forms with a plane perpendicular to the axis of the tube at an angle equal to or greater than the helix angle of the screw and in the opposite direction.
By virtue of this arrangement, when a person's finger is gripped by the screw, it is constrained, when it comes into contact with the profiled edge, to a helical movement which moves it away from this edge and thus eliminates all risk of shearing. The profiling in question can be provided, either on the tube itself, or on the telescopic valve if such a valve is combined with the tube for the adjustment of the flow rate.
The appended drawing shows by way of example a particular embodiment of the conveyor which is the subject of the invention:
fig. 1 is a partial elevational view of the conveyor in the service position,
fig. 2 shows, on a larger scale and in perspective, the lower part of it,
fig. 3 is a section taken along line 3-3 of FIG. 1,
fig. 4 is a section taken along line 4-4 of FIG. 2,
fig. 5 represents the developments superimposed on the same plane of the telescopic valve and of the conveyor screw propeller.
According to the exemplary embodiment shown, the conveyor comprises a cylindrical tube 1 which rests on the ground via a support 5 and which is open at its lower end 2 for the penetration of the product P to be transported (fig. . 1), its upper part having an outlet facing downwards, not shown.
Inside the tube 1 is housed a conveyor screw 4 which extends at 4a beyond the lower end of the tube. Its length is such that the lower end of the screw 4 cannot be brought into contact with the ground.
A telescopic valve 6 (fig. 1 and fig. 2) covers the lower end 2 of the casing tube 1. It is in the form of an open cylinder along one of its generators at 6a (fig. 3) and can be moved by means of the linkage 7 to slide concentrically with the casing tube 1. The support 5 and the linkage 7, which slides in the guide 8, ensure the guidance of the telescopic valve.
This is cut along a helix 6b whose angle fi is greater than the helix angle -r of the screw 4 and in the opposite direction, so that if an object or a person's finger is driven by the conveyor screw up to the point of intersection A (fig. 5) of the screw propeller and the edge of the telescopic valve, this object or this finger is moved by the moving screw on a helical path 6b of the telescopic valve.
If we imagine (fig. 5) an object or the finger of a person placed in A, at the intersection of the developed helix of the conveyor screw 4a and the developed helical edge 6b of the telescopic valve, we sees that if the developed screw turns counterclockwise (arrow f) point A will move to A 'on 4'a, which represents the development of the screw's helix after a displacement angular e.
At the same time, it is driven in the direction of advance of the transported product, that is to say parallel to the axis ex 'of the conveyor screw, along g and arrives at the end of the angular displacement e at a point A1 which, due to the inequality fl ru, is below edge 6b.
It can therefore be seen that, if by imprudence an operator places his finger in contact with the conveyor screw in rotation according to f. the finger is automatically pushed outwards without risk of injury.
To increase safety, the edge of the helical cutout in the telescopic valve is rounded as shown in the section made along a generatrix (fig. 4).
The origin and end of the helical cut are located below the conveyor when the latter is in the operating position. The movements of the telescopic valve 6 are limited in such a way that in any case, the lower end 2 of the tube I cannot appear in the helical cutout 6b.
If the conveyor is used without a flow regulating valve, it is obvious that the helical cutting can be done under the same conditions in the lower part of the casing tube 1 to achieve the same result as regards the protection.
