In the drawing, an exemplary embodiment of the system according to the invention is shown. 1 shows a schematic illustration of a first part of the system in plan, and FIGS. 1 a and 1b show further parts of the system that supplement the part shown in FIG.
As can be seen from FIGS. 1, la and 1b, the system has three related parts or sections from, namely a cleaning room, a mold room and a furnace room.
The forms are those that have a permanent character, with the pouring of the same taking place under pressure. Here, molten metal, which is put under pressure, is pressed from a pouring pan arranged in a pressure vessel through a ceramic pouring pipe in the lid of the container into a sprue provided on the underside of the mold.
The mold, which consists of a lower part and an upper part, is arranged above the container, the upper part being provided with removable linings for the risers and with a closure for the sprue to close it off at the end of the pouring process.
First, Fig. 1b is described, which represents the furnace chamber, since the manufacture of the casting begins with the melting of the metal. It is essential for the location of the melting chamber and its facilities that the melting furnaces, two of which are preferably provided, denoted by 10 and the ladle pit 28 adjacent and in the same alignment with the pouring station 12 in the longitudinal direction of the system.
The melting furnaces 10 are preferably attached to the bottom of the ground floor so that the furnace doors can be reached from a mezzanine 11, while the foundations of the furnace can be reached from the bottom 13.
The furnace room or section of the plant has a large number of subsections, such as B. the repair room for the molds, a work machine machine room, a laboratory (not shown represents). An essential subsection is that designated in the drawing with 14 for the waste or scrap metal container, which is on the opposite side of the pouring station and in the same alignment as the same and the ovens and thus allows all three subsections 12, 28 and 14 with two cranes 16 and 17 to operate on a common track 19 movable bridges.
From FIG. 1 a of the drawing it can be seen that on the left-hand side of the pouring station and directly adjacent to it, there is a pouring tube treatment point 18, which is divided into a pipe repair point and a pipe preheating point 18a or 18b. The location 18b contains a plurality of furnaces 20 which are necessary for preheating the ceramic pouring pipes.
The location of the pipe treatment point allows it to be served by a pair of smaller bridge cranes 22 and 23, which are movable on a common track 25 running in the longitudinal direction.
The crane 22 shown on the left is the pipe crane which is used to move the pipes between the pipe repair site and the ovens 20 within the treatment center. The crane 23 shown on the right-hand side, which is referred to as a pouring crane, is used to transport the pipes to the pouring container 15 of the pouring station 12. The crane 23 is equipped with a transversely movable mechanism 25d. H. a trolley which allows the molds to be moved between the transport devices 24 and 26 of the pouring station 12.
Adjacent opposite sides of the pouring station 12 are two push-off = transport devices which are in the same alignment and run transversely to the system. The back and forth conveying transport device 24 is used before the pouring process and the back and forth conveying transport device 26 is used after this pouring process.
Each of the two transport devices has a known design and has a plurality of rollers for supporting the mold sections as well as a hydraulically operated ram which has a plurality of drivers for connection to the molds on the rollers. The ram is moved in one direction by a predetermined amount, in the present case by 1.5 m. In operation, each shape connected to it is reduced by 1.5 m d. H. shifted by one step. After moving by such a step, the ram returns to its original position in order to then push the molds forward by a further step, taking along the molds again.
As soon as a shape has reached position g, it is gradually shifted onto the transport device 24, just as when it reaches point a 'on the transport device 26 and thus the molds on this transport device pass through all of the same locations, unless they are lifted earlier .
During operation of the system, the batch of the furnace or furnaces is transported by the crane 16 from the waste metal containers 14. The furnaces 10 preferably each have a capacity of 14 t and are able to deliver a melt which is sufficient to produce at least 30 casts of a total of 360 kg each. In the present example, railway car wheels are to be manufactured and the system is designed to produce a maximum of about 240 wheels per 8 hour shift, i.e. H. 720 bikes per 24 hours of work.
Since the melting time of each furnace is about 2 hours and about 30 complete molds can be processed per hour, it follows that the furnaces alternate, i. H. are able to produce the amount of metal required to cast 30 molds every hour. When the casting process is initiated, a melt is removed from the furnace and placed in a pouring ladle, which is located in the pit, which is slightly below the level of the ground floor. The filled pouring ladle is then brought to the pouring station by the crane 17 and brought into a pit which contains the pressure tank 15 and is lower than the ground floor.
A pouring pipe and a tank lid are then transported by crane 23 to the pouring station and lowered here together onto the tank so that the pouring pipe extends into the filled pouring ladle, the lid closing the top of the tank around the pouring pipe.
By the transport device 24, a lower part unit, best starting from an actual lower part and a holding part, is brought into the closed position d or f from position g on the same. At the same time, one of the two cranes 30, which are movable in the longitudinal direction, grips an upper part unit, consisting of upper part and holding part, from position 32 on upper part transport device 34 or from position 36 on upper part transport device 38 and onto the adjacent lower part Close the mold.
The closed mold is then brought into position a by the transport device 24, on which the same is grasped by the crane 23 and placed on the pouring tank 15. After performing the necessary check and further preparatory steps, the mold is poured and then brought by the crane 23 to the point a 'of the transport device 26, while a new mold is placed on the pouring tank 15. While the molds are being poured, the crane 23 remains above the pouring tank, the molds being transferred by the trolley 25 of the crane 23.
The poured-off mold containing the casting is then brought by the transport device 26 from position a 'to position f'. In the position f 'the upper part is lifted by a longitudinally movable crane 40 and brought to the adjacent end of a driven roller transport device 42, which transports this upper part to a stop or control device 44. The transport device is a continuously moving, endless chain conveyor. The stop 44 is a device that is able to grasp a shape on the conveyor by means of movable arms and to prevent further movement while the conveyor continues to move. The stops can release the form automatically or manually, one form per release.
After the upper part has been lifted off, the lower part, together with the casting, is brought into position g 'of the transport device 26, in which the casting is picked up by means of a transfer crane 46 and placed on the end of one of the transport devices 48 or 50. After the casting has been removed, the lower part is shifted by driven rollers 52 at the end of the transport device 26 to a roller turntable 54, which rotates clockwise by 90 and delivers the lower part to the end of a roller chain conveyor 58.
The turntable 54 has like all turntables described below be with the exception of the designated with 285 a foot and a rotatable table thereon, which is equipped with driven rollers. These rollers are stationary while the table is moving, but rotate to push the object or mold from the table onto another set of powered rollers which deliver the mold to the next conveyor. The turntables can be operated either automatically or by pushbuttons, in order to transfer a mold after release by a controlled stop. With the exception of the turntable 52, in front of which a stop is not necessary, such controlled stops are provided in front of all other turntables.
The chain conveyor 58 transports the lower parts up to the stop 60, at which the lower parts can accumulate in order to be given individually to a cleaning station 64 for these lower parts. At this station 64, each lower part is automatically tilted so far that foreign bodies that are located in the cavity that is open at the top can be removed and the mold can be cleaned and inspected. The lower part is then brought into a horizontal position in which its cavity is open upwards.
After cleaning, the lower parts are conveyed by a roller chain conveyor 68 to a stop 70, at which they collect and are discharged individually by the latter. The conveyor 68 then moves the individual molds to a spray station, at which their cavity is sprayed with a suitable washing liquid or a surface layer. Like the corresponding station for the upper parts, the spray station can be provided with automatic means for lifting and rotating the mold half in order to facilitate the spraying.
After the spraying process is finished, the roller chain conveyor 74 moves the lower parts to a stop 80, from which the same are released individually and then gelan to a turntable 84, which the lower parts by means of another roller chain conveyor via a stop 90 and a turntable 94 a roller chain conveyor 98 delivers on which the lower parts reach a stop 100. This stop in turn releases a lower part each, which arrives at a turntable 104 and then into position g on the conveyor 24, after which the described process is repeated.
After the upper parts have been lifted by the crane from station f 'of the transport device 26 and delivered to the conveyor 42, they are guided to the stop 44, from which they can be delivered individually. The respective released upper part is guided by the roller conveyor 108 to a station 110, where it is pivoted or tilted upwards and the used core and the riser lining are removed. Returned to a horizontal position, the top is then brought to station 112, where it is tipped over again to allow cleaning from the other side.
After the cleaning operation, the upper part is returned to the horizontal position and delivered by the roller conveyor 108 to the chain roller conveyor 116, with the partial plane pointing downwards. The upper parts move along the conveyor 116 until they run up against the stop 118 and collect and are given from this individually to a turntable 122 from. Here the upper parts are rotated clockwise by 90 and transferred to the roller conveyor 124. The roller conveyor 124 moves the upper parts to a turntable 125 on which cores are prepared in several positions and which is adjacent to the station 126 for the riser linings.
At this station, sand can be carried to the station by a conveyor 128 above the general work level from sand silos 130.
After the sand is placed in the riser liners of the tops, the cores or liners are sintered as the table 125 rotates counterclockwise. When the table is stopped, a finished upper part is pushed off the latter and placed on a roller conveyor 132, by which the same is transported to a rotating station 134. At this turning station, the upper part is turned by 180 so that its cavity is directed upwards when it is deposited on the roller chain conveyor 136.
The upper parts are then guided by this conveyor to a stop 138, where one upper part is released and pushed onto the turntable 140. At this point the same is rotated by the turntable counterclockwise by 90, provided that the upper part has reached a sufficiently low temperature to equip the same from a layer of liquid. The turntable shifts the upper part onto a conveyor 142, which transfers the upper part to a turntable 146, on which the upper part is again rotated 90 in the counterclockwise direction and then delivered to a spray station 150 by a roller chain conveyor 148.
If the tops when reaching the turntable 140 are still too hot to allow spraying with liquid, the turntable 140 is not actuated and the tops are moved along a bypass or cooling circuit, through a conveyor 154, up to one Stop 156, from which they are released individually and delivered to the turntable 160 . The turntable 160 rotates the upper parts by 90 in the counterclockwise direction, whereupon they are guided by rollers 162 to a turntable 164 and, after being rotated by a further 90 in the same direction, to a conveyor 168.
On the conveyor 168, the upper parts can accumulate in front of the stop 169, or remain in the cooling circuit until they have reached the predetermined spray temperature. As soon as this is the case, they are delivered individually to the turntable 146 and from there conveyed by the conveyor 148 to the spray station 150.
At the spray station 150, the tops can be lifted and pivoted with a solution while spraying. On that. reach the upper parts to a turntable 176, from which they are rotated clockwise by 90 and guided by rollers 178 to a turntable 180. The rotary table 180 rotates the individual tops in turn clockwise by 90 and transfers them to the conveyor 182, which conveys the tops to a rotating device 184. The upper part of the device 184 is tilted by 90, whereupon a pawl is engaged. This is followed by a further rotation of the upper part by 180 with attachment of a hook to secure the pawl.
This is followed by a further rotation of the upper part by 90, so that the cavity is directed downwards.
At this point the upper parts are delivered by the conveyor 186 to the turntable 188, which delivers them either to the conveyor 38 or via rollers 192 to the turntable 194 and, after pivoting by 90 in the counterclockwise direction, to the conveyor 34. The conveyors 34 and 38 each hold about 32 tops, with one conveyor normally being filled first before tops are delivered to the other. When casting wheels of different weights, one conveyor can be used for one wheel and the other conveyor for the other wheels.
This completes the topside handling process with these tops accumulating on conveyors 34 and 38 in front of stops 198 and 200 for discharge for the next cycle.
The jacket 208 is used to use new shapes. The conveyors 202 and 204 are designed to move new and reworked shapes through the preheat furnace. The overhead conveyor 206 is used to remove molds from the circuit.
1 and la show the treatment of the casting, in the present case a railroad car wheel made of steel, after it has left the pouring station. The wheels are cast at about 1600 ° C. and, despite cooling, to a certain extent on the transport device 26, as they have temperatures of about 820 ° C. when they are placed on the conveyors 48 or 50 of the furnace 210 by the crane 46.
The oven 210, which, although closed, has no heating means, is used to gradually cool the still hot wheels from the original temperature of about 820 C to about 480 - 540 C. The jacket is used to store heat. When leaving the oven on one of the conveyors 48 or 50, these pass a switch 212, the position of which can be changed so that the inclined conveyor 214 receives either wheels from the conveyor 48 or from the conveyor 50.
The first station to which the wheels arrive when received from conveyor 214 is station 216, where the sprues are removed from the wheels. The wheels then come to a tilting device 218, after which the remaining parts of the ceramic plug at station 220 are removed. The wheels then go to a press 222 where the necessary markings are stamped in. The wheels then arrive at station 224, at which one or more hub machining devices are provided which enable the hubs to drill a hole, for example by flame cutting. From station 224, the wheels arrive at station 226, at which the wheels are again turned around and returned to the original position in which the flange is at the bottom.
The wheels then reach a vertical elevator, from which they are raised to the height required for introduction into an annealing furnace. The wheels reach a stop 232 via an inclined conveyor 230, from which they are released individually. They are picked up there by a movement device 234 and transferred to a rotating treatment furnace 238. The furnace is provided with a plurality of stops, so that with each step switching a new wheel is brought into the furnace and a treated wheel is guided to the inclined conveyor 240 by a second movement device 236.
The castings remain in the rotary kiln for about 1/2 hours, i.e. H. during one full revolution of the same. The castings enter the furnace at a temperature of around 315 C and leave the furnace at a temperature of around 870 C.
The wheels are delivered by the conveyor 240 to a lowering device 242, from which they are placed on an endless transport device 244. As the wheels move on the conveyor 244, they pass hub cooling stations 246 and 248, in which the hubs are cooled under the action of compressed air for a short time and by sprayers with water, also for a short time. In addition, while the wheels are on the conveyor 244, their entire surface is exposed to the atmospheric air surrounding the conveyor.
When the wheels have reached the end of the conveyor, they are moved into a stacker 250 which automatically arranges the wheels into stacks of three and delivers them to a chain conveyor 252 which conveys them to one of the preferably eight conveyors 254. The stacks are pushed onto the conveyors 254 by rams 256, only one of which is shown. Each conveyor can hold twenty stacks of three wheels each; H. take a total of sixty bikes. After eight conveyors of sixty wheels each are provided, the storage capacity of zone 258 is four hundred and eighty wheels; H. it is sufficient to accommodate the wheels produced during two eight-hour shifts.
When the wheels are removed from the storage zone, they have had the opportunity to cool down for sixteen hours so that they are sufficiently cold for further processing. The wheels are delivered from the conveyors 254 to the conveyor 260 and from this to a device 262, which breaks up the stacks and brings them into a positioning device 264 in which the individual wheels are brought into a vertical position and onto a downwardly inclined rail 266 be put on. The wheels roll on track 266 to station 268 where the flange is ground.
The wheels then run along a rail 266 to a centrifugal jet cleaning device 269, on which they are cleaned. On the rail 266 they get thereupon under the action of gravity to the station 270 and 272, where they are tested by a magnetic test method, for. B. the so-called Magnaglo process and checked visually. They then arrive on the rail 266 at a depositing station 274, in which they are brought back into the horizontal position. Here those wheels are removed that have defects, whereby they are led to the pouring containers.
If the wheels only need additional sanding, they pass via a conveyor 278 and a turntable 280 to a conveyor 282, where they are subjected to further sanding or sanding treatment. Then they come to the turntable 284, where they are set up and placed on an inclined rail 267, on which they reach the turntable 285. This brings the wheels in a vertical position on the rail 266, with which they are back in the circuit.
If the wheels after reaching the turntable 280 have been found to be in order, they are delivered by the conveyor 286 to the turntable 288 and then by the conveyor 290 to the positioning device 292, in which they are brought into a vertical position to their Introduction to the hub boring mill, designated 296, to allow. After the hubs are drilled, the wheels are subjected to a final check at station 298 and a weight check at station 300. The wheels are then ready to be brought onto the loading ramp 302 before they are loaded onto rail vehicles (not shown) on the track 304.
