Fig. 3 zeigt in Seitenansicht und
Process for the production of a hose from a non-metallic material
A number of good properties are required of a hose to be used in technology or in everyday life. It should be slightly flexible, but also so resistant that it can reliably absorb an overpressure or underpressure prevailing inside it. In addition, it must be elastic in order to regain its old shape after a local flattening under temporary pressure. Finally, it should not break even when subjected to greater bending stress.
Fulfilling these requirements is not just a question of the material used. Rather, it also depends to a considerable extent on the shape of the hose, e.g. B. on its wall thickness.
The usual hoses with a smooth surface do not fully meet these requirements.
It is true that there are no difficulties in fulfilling one or the other of the conditions set; however, this is generally at the expense of the other requirements. Should z. If, for example, a hose is flexible, it must have the thinnest possible wall thickness; However, this has the consequence that its stability against overpressure or negative pressure decreases.
The reverse applies accordingly. A hose with a thick wall, such as that used in vacuum technology or as a water hose, is not too flexible. There is also the risk that a thick-walled hose will break if it is bent more strongly.
Attempts have been made in various ways to overcome these difficulties. For example, hoses have been wound from metal tape.
These hoses are expensive to manufacture and may leak after prolonged use.
In addition to metal hoses, rubber or plastic hoses that contain a wire coil are also known. These tubes, if they are thin, have a corrugated wall on the outside and inside. Such a hose is flexible and also insensitive to overpressure or underpressure, but it has the disadvantage that it is not elastic to forces perpendicular to the hose axis, i. H. after being deformed in this direction, does not resume its old shape. In addition, the inner corrugation leads to a howling or hissing sound when air or water flows through the hose, as the corrugated inner surface gives rise to turbulence. Finally, there is also the fact that production is relatively laborious and expensive.
The invention overcomes all of these disadvantages. According to it, a hose can be manufactured which is free from all the difficulties mentioned above, the manufacturing process as such being very simple and cheap. It is the production of a hose made of non-metallic material, e.g. B. rubber or plastic, which, expediently provided with a smooth wall inside, has helically extending ribs on its outer surface. Such a hose, which allows a smooth, noise-free passage of the medium to be conveyed, can have a relatively thin wall and is accordingly very elastic and flexible; at the same time, however, due to the outer ribs, it is extremely stable, dimensionally stable and insensitive to pressure.
The invention initially relates to a method for producing the desired hose.
This method consists in conveying the hose with a smooth outer jacket continuously and in a straight line out of a device and working the ribs onto or out of the hose leaving the device by means of an auxiliary device rotating around it.
At the same time, the invention relates to a device for carrying out the novel method. This device is characterized in that a device conveying the smooth hose in a straight line has an auxiliary member which is rotatable about the longitudinal axis of this device and is provided with a passage for the hose for attachment or
Working out the helical ribs is connected downstream.
Further advantages of the invention, in particular also devices for carrying out the method, are described below with reference to the drawing, which shows some exemplary embodiments.
Fig. 1 shows a longitudinal section through the device according to the invention in a first embodiment.
Fig. 2 is an analogous longitudinal section of a further embodiment.
Fig. 3 shows in side view and
4 is a front view of a schematic representation of a third exemplary embodiment of the invention.
In Fig. 1, 5 shows the outlet end of an extruder in which a screw 6 rotates for conveying the plastic material from which the tube to be formed according to the invention is to be produced. An auxiliary member is connected to the extruder and consists of a rotatable sleeve 7 and a stationary core 9 held in the extruder housing by struts 8, both elements being concentric to the axis of the extruder 5. The rotatable sleeve 7 is equipped with two axially parallel channels 10 and 11, which start at an annular chamber 12 of the sleeve 7 and are carried out to the end face 13 of the sleeve, where they merge into arches 14, 15, which open radially to the longitudinal axis of the overall device .
The core 9 is surrounded by a sleeve 16, the inner diameter of which is greater than the outer diameter of the core, the difference between these two diameters determining the wall thickness of the hose to be produced.
The plastic used to manufacture the hose, e.g. B. to about 1300 C heated polyvinyl chloride is pressed by the screw 6 into the annular chamber 12 and from there partly into the annular space 17 between the parts 9 and 16, partly into channels 10 and 11. Exits at the end face 13 of the auxiliary member the annular space 17 is made of a smooth hose which, as long as the extruder is working, moves evenly in a straight line. At the same time, however, plastic material also emerges from the bends 14 and 15 and accordingly lies in the form of webs or ribs on the outer jacket of the hose, the ribs assuming a helical shape as a result of the movement of the latter.
It may be useful, if necessary, to associate a cooling system with the end of the auxiliary device in order to allow the hose provided with ribs to solidify quickly.
In the embodiment of FIG. 2, 5, 6, 8 and 9 denote the same parts as in FIG.
The circumferential sleeve 18, on the other hand, is not provided with axially parallel channels, but with a thread 19 that is open towards the core 9. This has the consequence that the material pressed out of the extruder and made plastic is partially conveyed through the annular space 20, which, analogously to FIG. 1, exists between the core 9 and a bushing 22 surrounding it and fastened to the extruder housing 5 by means of individual holders 21 but it is also transferred into the thread 19 and pushed in it towards the outlet end of the auxiliary member, where the web with a trapezoidal cross-section then lies on the hose which leaves the annular space 20. For this purpose, as FIG. 2 shows, the end 23 of the sleeve 22 is set back somewhat relative to the end of the sleeve 18.
Of course, suitable auxiliary measures can be taken to fix the web that leaves the thread 19 on the smooth outer wall of the hose in a specific manner, for example by gluing, welding, pressing and the like.
In the case of FIGS. 3 and 4, it is a question of using a hose with a relatively large wall thickness in which one or more grooves are cut in the manner of a thread in order to form helical webs.
The device used for this and shown schematically in the drawing consists of a frame or housing 24 with an inlet opening 25 into which an already prefabricated tube 26 of great wall thickness is inserted from right to left. Inside the housing there are two conveyor rollers 27, 28 which overlap the hose from above and below, each of which is assigned a toothed or friction wheel 29, 30, the two wheels 29, 30 being set in motion by a common drive wheel 31. A gear wheel 32 is fixedly mounted on the end of the housing or frame 24 opposite the opening 25; it has a central passage for the hose 26. On the gear 32 follows a suitably mounted drive wheel 33, for. B. a V-belt pulley which can be rotated by the motor 34 via the counter pulley 35.
Various organs are mounted on the end face 36 of the belt pulley 33 remote from the gear wheel 32. It is initially a V-belt pulley 37, the shaft 38 of which is freely rotatable
