Description

  

  Boîte métallique à     fermeture        hermétique       La présente invention se rapporte à une boîte  métallique à fermeture hermétique, plus particulière  ment destinée au conditionnement de matières pul  vérulentes.  



  La boîte qui fait l'objet du brevet principal com  prend un corps de boîte comportant à sa base un  fond serti et, à sa partie supérieure, un bord roulé  tangent à un plan et qui est couvert par une lèvre  périphérique d'un couvercle amovible ayant une par  tie s'emboîtant à force à l'intérieur du susdit corps,  l'étanchéité de la fermeture et l'inviolabilité de la  boîte étant assurées par un cordon d'une matière  adhésive durcie, de façon à lier les surfaces adjacen  tes du bord roulé et de ladite lèvre périphérique.  



  Durant les transports et manipulations, il peut  arriver que, parmi plusieurs boîtes placées côte à côte  et soumises à des trépidations, la lèvre périphérique  de l'un des couvercles, si elle est en     saillie    par rap  port au corps de boîte, soit accrochée puis soulevée  par une autre partie saillante, par exemple la lèvre du  couvercle d'une boîte adjacente. L'étanchéité de l'em  ballage risque donc d'être compromise par un dépla  cement intempestif du couvercle.  



  La présente addition a pour but de remédier à  cet inconvénient. Elle a pour objet une boîte     telle     que définie ci-dessus et caractérisée par le fait que  le corps de boîte présente au moins une partie ayant  un calibre au moins égal au diamètre extérieur de  ladite lèvre périphérique du couvercle.  



  Dans une forme d'exécution, ladite partie du  corps de boîte ayant un calibre au moins égal au  diamètre extérieur de ladite lèvre périphérique peut  être constituée par une saillie dudit corps. Cette sail  lie peut être constituée par un bourrelet annulaire  dont le diamètre extérieur est légèrement supérieur à  celui de la susdite lèvre périphérique.  



  A titre d'exemple, l'unique figure du     dessins       annexé montre, en coupe partielle et à grande échelle,  une forme d'exécution de l'objet de l'invention.  



  Tel que représenté au dessin, le corps de boîte 1  est constitué, de préférence, par une feuille métalli  que roulée et soudée de façon à     former    une enceinte  tubulaire de forme générale cylindrique, ouverte à  ses deux extrémités. La     partie    de ce corps destinée  à constituer l'extrémité supérieure de la boîte présente  un bord la roulé vers l'intérieur et, à une     certaine     distance de ce bord, un bourrelet annulaire lb fai  sant saillie à l'extérieur dudit corps.

   La boîte repré  sentée comporte également un couvercle amovible 2,  lequel présente une partie     cylindrique        2a    destinée à  être emboîtée à force à l'intérieur de l'embouchure  circulaire délimitée par le bord     1a.    Le couvercle 2 est  pourvu d'une lèvre périphérique     2b    dont le diamètre  extérieur est tel que ladite lèvre couvre entièrement  le bord roulé la     quiest    tangent à     unplan.    L'étanchéité  de la fermeture et l'inviolabilité de la boîte sont assu  rées par un cordon 3 d'une matière adhésive     durcis-          sable    qui permet de     réaliser    une 

  liaison impérative  des surfaces annulaires adjacentes du bord roulé la  et de la susdite lèvre     2b.    Cette     matière    est constituée  de préférence, par un     élastomètre    adhésif thermodur  cissable qui doit conserver, après la     polymérisation,     une certaine souplesse     afin    d'éviter toute cassure in  tempestive du joint au cours des transports et mani  pulations. Ladite matière doit être également insen  sible à la chaleur et au     vieillissement    et, si la boîte  est destinée à l'emballage de produits     alimentaires,    il  est indispensable qu'elle soit en outre     inoffensive    et  inodore.

   De bons résultats ont été obtenus au moyen  d'un élastomère adhésif à base de     silicones    tel que  celui connu sous le nom de       Rhodorsil        10705     .  



  Après l'application du cordon 3; qui s'étend de  part et d'autre de la zone de contact du bord roulé  la avec la lèvre     2b,    la boîte est convoyée à     l'intérieur         d'un four tunnel par exemple, en vue d'achever la       polymérisation    du joint.   Le bourrelet     lb,    qui confère au corps de boîte un  calibre légèrement supérieur au diamètre extérieur de  la lèvre     périphérique        2b,    constitue une sorte de butée  apte à protéger le bord saillant du couvercle contre  tout contact avec la     partie    correspondante d'une boîte  voisine par exemple et, par conséquent, contre tout  déplacement     intempestif    du susdit couvercle tendant  à compromettre l'étanchéité de l'emballage.  



  Bien entendu, le bourrelet annulaire représenté au  dessin     pourrait    être remplacé par d'autres dispositions  convenables, par exemple des bosselures de toutes  formes et dimensions, des bourrelets longitudinaux,  etc.

The tightness of the packaging therefore risks being compromised by an untimely displacement of the cover.



  The purpose of the present addition is to remedy this drawback. Its object is a box as defined above and characterized in that the box body has at least one part having a caliber at least equal to the outside diameter of said peripheral lip of the cover.



  In one embodiment, said part of the box body having a caliber at least equal to the outside diameter of said peripheral lip may be constituted by a projection from said body. This sail may be constituted by an annular bead whose outer diameter is slightly greater than that of the aforesaid peripheral lip.



  By way of example, the single figure of the appended drawings shows, in partial section and on a large scale, an embodiment of the object of the invention.



  As shown in the drawing, the box body 1 is preferably formed by a metal sheet rolled and welded so as to form a tubular enclosure of generally cylindrical shape, open at its two ends. The part of this body intended to constitute the upper end of the box has an edge la rolled towards the interior and, at a certain distance from this edge, an annular bead lb protruding outside said body.

   The box shown also comprises a removable cover 2, which has a cylindrical part 2a intended to be force-fitted inside the circular mouth delimited by the edge 1a. The cover 2 is provided with a peripheral lip 2b whose outside diameter is such that said lip entirely covers the rolled edge which is tangent to a plane. The tightness of the closure and the inviolability of the box are ensured by a bead 3 of a hardenable adhesive material which makes it possible to achieve a

  imperative connection of the adjacent annular surfaces of the rolled edge 1a and of the aforesaid lip 2b. This material is preferably constituted by a thermosetting adhesive elastometer which must retain, after polymerization, a certain flexibility in order to avoid any untimely breakage of the seal during transport and handling. Said material must also be insensitive to heat and aging and, if the box is intended for packaging food products, it is essential that it additionally be harmless and odorless.

   Good results have been obtained using an adhesive elastomer based on silicones such as that known under the name Rhodorsil 10705.



  After applying the bead 3; which extends on either side of the contact zone of the rolled edge 1a with the lip 2b, the box is conveyed inside a tunnel oven for example, with a view to completing the polymerization of the seal. The boxes are filled through the opening located at the base of the box body; the bottom 4 is then assembled and then crimped at 4a by means of a conventional machine.



  The bead lb, which gives the box body a caliber slightly greater than the outside diameter of the peripheral lip 2b, constitutes a kind of stopper capable of protecting the projecting edge of the cover against any contact with the corresponding part of a neighboring box for example. and, consequently, against any untimely displacement of the aforesaid cover tending to compromise the sealing of the packaging.



  Of course, the annular bead shown in the drawing could be replaced by other suitable arrangements, for example embossments of all shapes and sizes, longitudinal beads, etc.
