Automatic brake adjustment device built into the brake cylinder of a compressed air brake fair vehicles It is known to install an automatic brake adjustment device in the brake cylinder of a compressed air brake for vehicles in such a way that it has two riders slidable on the brake piston rod that is slidable in the brake piston tube guided in the brake cylinder cover and formed as nuts Engage rotatably in the brake piston rod designed as a screw spindle and of which the first participates in the movement of the brake piston tube and holds the brake piston rod locked to the brake piston tube during braking, and the second through the cooperation of one assigned to it,
together with the brake piston tube in relation to the brake cylinder in the area of the constant brake piston stroke to be kept displaceable control member, the backward movement of the brake piston rod stops when the brake is released in the released brake ent speaking position.
In order to enable the adjustment of the brake piston rod in relation to the brake piston tube by hand by screwing in the brake piston rod formed as a screw spindle, it is also known that the brake rod cannot be rotated with the brake rod when replacing worn brake pads with an automatic brake adjustment device of the above type built into the brake cylinder to be connected fastening eye of the brake piston rod to be arranged rotatably on this and secured against rotation by a split pin. When adjusting the brake piston rod by hand, the cotter pin is pulled out so that the screw spindle can rotate when it is screwed in in relation to the fastening eye that is non-rotatably hinged on the brake rod.
After the adjustment has been made, the fastening eyelet is again secured against rotation on the piston rod by reinserting the split pin. This arrangement has the disadvantage to be eliminated by the invention that pulling out and reinserting the cotter pin is time-consuming and there is always the risk that the proper self-operation of the brake adjustment device is thwarted by forgetting to reinsert the cotter pin or not sufficiently Care is taken to safely rule out loosening.
According to the invention, the brake cylinder cover is divided into two parts, one of which, in which the brake piston tube is guided non-rotatably, in relation to the other part firmly connected to the brake cylinder ver when the brake is released around the longitudinal axis of the brake cylinder while taking the brake piston tube and the two riders can be rotated by hand and secured against unintentional rotation by a detachable lock or by a coupling that can be overcome.
As a result of the fact that, with the assumed type of automatic brake adjustment device built into the brake cylinder, the brake piston rod is designed as a screw spindle and the two riders are designed as nuts engaging rotatably in the screw spindle and the second rider is locked in the direction of rotation when the brake is released to the brake piston tube achieves the precaution taken according to the invention,
that when the brake is released after a simple release of the said lock or by overcoming the said clutch, the rotatable part of the brake cylinder cover can be rotated by hand and during the rotation takes the brake piston tube and the two riders with it and thereby moves the brake piston rod in relation to the brake piston tube. In this way, when replacing used brake pads, the adjustment of the brake piston rod can be done by hand in the Spielraumver larger direction in relation to the brake piston tube without loosening the non-rotatable connection of the brake piston rod in the brake linkage.
In the brake cylinder of a pneumatic brake for vehicles, a return spring for the latter is usually clamped between the brake cylinder cover and the brake piston. If the rotatable part of the brake cylinder cover is secured against unintentional rotation when the brake is released by an overwhelming coupling, this coupling can advantageously consist in that cooperating coupling surfaces on the rotatable part and on the part of the brake cylinder cover that is firmly connected to the brake cylinder and that in the brake cylinder provided return spring are assigned to each other in such a way that this Rückfüh approximately spring when the brake is released, said coupling surfaces: holds in engagement with each other.
In this way, the return spring in the brake cylinder cover is given a secondary task in addition to its main task, and at the same time, the compression of the interacting coupling surfaces of the two rotatably connected parts of the brake cylinder cover caused by the return spring prevents the penetration of dust and moisture the adjusting device preventing a good seal between these two parts can easily be achieved.
The invention is illustrated in the drawing by three embodiments. It shows: FIG. 1 the first, FIG. 2 the second and FIG. 3 the third embodiment in plan view and partially in longitudinal section.
It denotes in all of the embodiments shown forms 1 the brake cylinder, 2 the brake piston, 3 the brake piston tube stuck on the brake piston, 4 the cylinder cover designed as a guide for the brake piston tube, 5 the feedback spring clamped between the brake piston and cylinder cover. The cylinder cover 4 is divided into a part firmly connected to the cylinder 1 and an extension part 24 which can be rotated by hand about the longitudinal axis of the brake cylinder when the brake is released.
The rotatable extension 24 is non-rotatably connected to the brake piston tube 3 by the pins 7 engaging in the longitudinal slots 6 of the brake piston tube 3 and is provided with the stops 18 and 19 with which the stop pins 17 protruding through the longitudinal slots 6 of the piston tube 3 of the only in the area of to be kept constant brake piston stroke in relation to the brake cylinder displaceable control member 12 to cooperate, which consists of a sleeve arranged in the brake piston tube 3 displaceably and non-rotatably.
In the embodiments according to FIGS. 1 and 3, the brake piston rod 8 displaceable in the piston tube 3 is designed as a non-self-locking screw spindle. The provided on this, with the stop ring 9 fixed in the piston tube 3 to cooperate riders 10 and 11 consist of nuts that are screwed onto the screw spindle and must rotate when they move on the screw spindle. On the first nut 10, the spring 14 acts via the axial ball bearing 13 in one direction against the stop ring 9, and in the other direction against the stop ring 9 acts on the control sleeve 12, which is displaceable in the piston tube 3 and which extends against the second nut 11 via the Axial ball bearing 15 from supporting spring 16.
In the embodiment according to Fig. 2, the screw spindle 8 and the nuts 10 and 11 sitting thereon are designed (the nuts divided into resiliently held together sectors) that the nuts when shifting on the screw spindle during the automatic operation of the Bremsnach adjusting device without rotation the thread of the screw spindle acting as a rack slip. Of the two stops 20 and 21 that interact directly with the second nut 11, one is firmly seated in the control sleeve 12, while the other is displaceable in the control sleeve 12 and interacts with the stop ring 9 through the pin 22. The spring 23 is clamped between the two stops 20, 21.
In the embodiments according to FIGS. 1 and 2, the manually rotatable extension 24 is secured against unintentional rotation by an easily manually releasable lock 25, whereas in the embodiment of FIG. 3 between the United extension 24 and the one firmly connected to the cylinder 1 Part of the cylinder cover is provided on a windy coupling, which he ensures the necessary security against unintentional rotation of the extension 24 when the brake is released.
After the embodiment shown this hitch ment form at 27 abutting end faces on the rotatable extension 24 and on the part of the cylinder cover firmly connected to the cylinder 1 cooperating, when the brake is released by the return spring 5 compressed friction clutch surfaces. This formation of the coupling means that the return spring 5, which is partially supported against the cylinder cover firmly connected to the cylinder 1, is in the return direction when the brake is released via the brake piston 2, the piston tube 3, the stop ring 9, the second tab 11 and its associated control member 12 acts on the rotatable extension 24 of the cylinder cover.
The mode of operation of the automatic brake adjustment device according to all the embodiments shown and described when braking and releasing the brake is as follows. When braking, the first rider 10 transmits the braking force between the brake piston tube 3 and the brake piston rod B. If the brake piston stroke does not exceed the desired value, there is no displacement of the control member 12 in relation to the brake piston tube 3.
If the brake piston stroke exceeds the desired value due to too large brake pad clearances, the control member 12 is stopped by the interaction of the pin 17 with the stop 18 and together with the second tab 11 in relation to the brake piston tube 3 and to the brake piston rod 8, when this Move beyond the desired value of the brake piston stroke, shifted in the direction of clearance reduction. When the brake is subsequently released, the first rider 10 is also moved on the brake piston rod 8 in the direction of clearance reduction.
When the brake is released, the force of the return spring 5 is transmitted to the brake piston rod 8 via the control member supported by the pin 17 against the stop 19 and the second tab 11, which is locked in its respective position on the brake piston rod 8 under the effect of this force. The brake piston 2 therefore never comes into contact with the cylinder base.
As a result of the rotatability of the cylinder cover extension 24 and the brake piston tube 3 connected to it non-rotatably in relation to the brake cylinder 1, it is because of the usual, non-rotatable connection of the brake piston rod 8 with the brake linkage and because of the design of the brake piston rod 8 as a screw spindle and the tab 10 11 as, when they are rotated, nuts on the screw spindle can move in all of the embodiments shown and described of the automatic brake adjustment device built into the brake cylinder,
When the brake is released, after releasing the possibly provided lock 25 or by overcoming the otherwise intended overcoming coupling without dismantling the connection of the brake piston rod with the brake linkage and without taking apart parts of the automatic brake adjustment device simply by turning the cylinder cover extension 24 by hand both riders 10 To adjust 11 on the brake piston rod 8 in the direction of clearance enlargement as well as in the direction of clearance reduction. Conveniently, the cylinder cover extension 24 is provided with projections 26, with which a suitable handicraft tool for rotating the cylinder cover extension can be brought into engagement.
If a releasable lock 25 is provided, it is preferable that the support of the brake cylinder for the return spring 5 as in the execution forms according to FIGS. 1 and 2 in the rotatable cylinder cover extension 24 sits and takes part in its rotation.
