Description

  Foldable box
The present invention relates to a collapsible box and more particularly relates to a cardboard box or a similar material comprising a four-sided body of which the first and second sides, and the third and fourth sides are respectively opposite when the box is mounted. , and the first and third faces, as well as the second and fourth faces overlap each other in the folded state, the body also comprising four bottom closure flaps each hingedly connected to one of said faces at one end of the body.

Boxes of this type are usually filled after assembly and closed by an automatic machine. With the known boxes of this type, it is necessary to provide two separate and successively operated series of folding devices in order to first fold inwards the first and second bottom flaps and then to fold inwards the third flaps. and fourth flaps to cover the first two, and to fix said third and fourth flaps thereto.

An object of the invention is to provide a box such that, during assembly forming the body with four faces perpendicular to each other, the first and second flaps are folded into a position such that this folding can be completed by folding the third and fourth flaps, which avoids the need to provide a series of devices for folding the first and second flaps, which reduces the cost price and the equipment and facilitates the bottom of the box closing operations.

The box according to the invention, comprising a four-sided body of cardboard or other similar material and a flattened bag of a liquid impervious and heat-sealable material, which has a closed end and covers the interior of the body , the four faces of the latter being hingedly connected to each other, the body comprising four bottom closure flaps each hinged to one of the respective faces of the body, the first and third faces and the corresponding flaps, and the second and fourth faces and the corresponding flaps, overlapping, is characterized in that the closed end of the bag is disposed between the overlapping flaps and affixed by adhesive to the first and second flaps at mid-distance and near free edges of the shutters,

and also affixed by adhesive to the first and second faces in each of the two positions disposed on opposite sides of center lines perpendicular to the hinges between the first and second faces and the first and second flaps, and in that the corner portions of the first and second flaps are cut so that during assembly of the box into a parallelepiped body, the closed end of the bag is pulled into the body of the box and the first and second flaps are pulled by the bag towards each other. Another between the third and fourth flaps, sdans, positions such that the final folding said first and second flaps can be done by folding the third and fourth flaps.

In one embodiment of the box, the positions at which the bag adheres to the first and second faces are adjacent to fold lines connecting the first and second faces with the third and fourth faces.

The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example. an embodiment of the box which is the subject of the invention.

Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the folded box,
fig. 2 is a partial perspective view of the bottom of the mounted box,
fig. 3 is a view corresponding to that of FIG. 2 showing the closed bottom, and
fig. 4 is a perspective view of the mounted, filled and closed box.

The box shown is made of cardboard or a similar material and comprises a body with four sides, the first and second sides 1 and 2 and the third and fourth sides 3 and 4 being opposite in pairs when the box is mounted (fig. 2 and 3), the first and third faces 1 and 3 and the second and fourth faces 2 and 4 overlapping each other in the folded state (fig. 1), this state being useful for storage before filling and closing of the box.

First, second, third and fourth flaps 5, 6, 7 and 8 are hingedly connected by fold lines 9, 10, 11 and 12 respectively to the first, second, third and fourth faces at one end of the body. The opposite end of the body also has closure flaps which are not described here.

A flattened bag 13 of a liquid impervious and heat-sealable material, preferably an organic thermoplastic material such as polyethylene, covers the interior of the body of the carton and its end 14 is closed by a heat seal and disposed between them. overlapping bottom flaps 5, 7 and 6, 8. The closed end 14 of the bag adheres to each of the first and second flaps 5 and 6 in middle surfaces 15, 16 adjacent to the outer edges 17, 18 of the flaps, and the bag also adheres to each of the first and second faces 1 and 2 in each of the two surfaces 19, 20 and 21, 22 disposed on the opposite sides of the center lines perpendicular to the fold lines 9, 10 connecting the faces 1 and 2 with the first and second parts 5 and 6.

The angles of the first and second flaps 5, 6 are cut down at 23, 24 and 25, 26 to allow movement of the flaps 5, 6 between the flaps 7, 8 during assembly of the box.

In a preferred embodiment, the bag adheres to faces 1 and 2 in surfaces which are adjacent to the fold lines connecting the first and second faces 1 and 2 with the third and fourth faces 3 and 4.

During assembly of the box from the folded state (fig. 1) to the assembled state (fig. 2), the bottom of the bag, which is attached to the opposite faces 1 and 2, is opened from from its flattened state, but since this bottom 14 is closed, usually by heat sealing, it is pulled slightly into the body of the box, and the stress exerted by the bag between surfaces 15 and 22 and between surfaces 16 and 20 that the flaps 5, 6 are pulled towards each other between the flaps 7 and 8, this movement being allowed as a result of the lowering of the angles of the flaps 5 and 6.

When the box is mounted (fig. 2), the positions of the flaps 5 and 6 are such that when the flaps 7 and 8 are engaged by folding devices not shown and are moved towards each other and towards their position. closed shown in fig. 3, the flaps 5 and 6 are engaged by the flaps 7 and 8 moving inward and driven by these flaps 7 and 8 in the closed position (fig. 3).

It is evident that the box is inverted in figs. 2 and 3 and that during the filling of the mounted box and the closing operations the box occupies the position shown in fig. 4, opposite to the position shown in FIGS. 2 and 3.
