Fig. 7 eine perspektivische Ansicht eines Eckverbinders.
Packaging container
The present invention relates to a packaging container with at least one end cover and a container wall.
The problem with creating such containers, especially for bulky goods of various shapes, was essentially that these containers took up a very large space before packaging. This circumstance was all the more disadvantageous when goods in the most varied of shapes were to be packaged and one was consequently forced to keep a relatively large inventory of different containers thanks to the variety of shapes.
The subject matter of the present invention relates to a packaging container of the type mentioned, which is characterized in that the container wall consists of a flexible web of coherent lamellas made of nailable material and parallel to the container axis, and is detachably connected to the cover.
The drawing shows two exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention, namely:
Fig. 1 is a partial section through a cylindrical container according to a first embodiment,
2 shows the same container partly in section according to a second embodiment,
3 shows, on an enlarged scale, a section through the path suitable for forming the container wall according to the first embodiment,
4 shows a section on an enlarged scale along the line IV-IV in FIG. 1,
5 shows a perspective view of parts of the first embodiment,
6 shows a perspective view of the upper part of a closed packaging container according to the first embodiment and
Figure 7 is a perspective view of a corner connector.
The embodiment according to FIG. 1 is a cylindrical container which is particularly suitable for bulk goods. The container consists of two end caps 1 and 2 and a container wall 3, which the latter is formed from a coherent web of nailable material, such as wood, on the inside of which non-continuous grooves 4 are milled parallel to the container axis at regular intervals. As can be seen in particular from Fig. 5, this path perpendicular to the grooves and thus perpendicular to the axis of the container, similar to a Spanish wall, is too flexible on its inside and can consequently be shaped into a cylindrical body of any base, like this is indicated by dashed lines in FIG. 3.
This shaping into a container of the desired cross-section is carried out by the end caps 1 and 2, which each have an annular groove la or ib along their edges, which are used to receive the upper and lower edge of the container wall. The end caps have a raised edge 1 b or
2b, which forms the groove la or 2a on its underside, and a recessed central part lc or 2c, which is used to receive a closure element 5 made of nailable material, preferably wood. This closure element, designed as a cross in FIG. 6, is advantageously supported against the inside of the edge 1b or 2b in order to serve at the same time as a stiffening of the end faces of the packaging container.
This means that the individual parts of the container, namely the two end caps 1 and 2, the container wall 3 and the closure elements 5 can be stacked in front of the packaging as flat individual parts with little space requirement.
Shortly before packaging, the container is manufactured in a simple manner in such a way that the lower edge of the container wall 3 is inserted into the groove 2a of the lower end cover 2, bent in accordance with this groove, the length of the path forming the container wall being dimensioned so that its End against each other. The joint in question is denoted by 3a in the drawing. A closure element 5, be it in the form of a cross or a disk, is then inserted into the recessed middle part 2a of the end cap 2 and connected to the outside of the container wall by means of corner connectors 6. A metal band provided with teeth arranged in a V-shape is referred to here as a connector, which is wrapped in nailable material and is suitable for connecting parts of such material to one another.
In FIG. 4, one such is shown in section and denoted by 7.
A corner connector is such a band in which two toothed parts 6a are connected to one another by a non-toothed band 6b. Such a connector is suitable, possibly with bridging of parts made of non-nailable material, to be laid around a corner.
The container is now ready to be filled. For closure, it is sufficient to insert the upper end cover 1 over the upper edge of the container wall 3 so that the upper edge of the container enters the groove la of the cover, insert the closure element 5 and anchor it again by means of corner connectors 6 on the outside of the container wall. If, as in the example according to FIG. 6, a closure element is selected which is supported against the inner edge of the relevant end cover, these corner connectors serve both to close the container and to stiffen the container end faces.
Very often, especially with high container walls, it is useful to reinforce the web by means of a connector tape 7, which connector tape, attached to the outside of the container, hardly affects the flexibility of the tape.
The lids, which alone determine the cross section of the container, can have any desired shape corresponding to the object or material to be packaged.
If, for example, the packaging of machines is concerned, the container described allows the machine and any transport frame to be placed on the lower connection cover and only afterwards to place the container wall around the packaged goods or to insert it into the groove in the cover.
To open the container it is sufficient to cut this corner connector 6 and empty the container. To stack the container elements, the lower end cover is also separated from the container wall by cutting the corner connectors, so that the three elements can be stored flat again with minimal space requirements. The flattening of the container wall is not made significantly more difficult by any reinforcement connectors 7. The container parts are then ready for further use.
As already mentioned, the end caps can have any shape, through which shape or the course of the edge groove la or the cross section of the cylinder formed by the packaging parts is given.
For this reason, the packaging container according to the illustrated embodiment is also particularly suitable for packaging bulky goods such as machines, etc.
The embodiment according to FIG. 2 differs from the first in that the end caps do not encompass the edges of the container wall, but rather enter with their edge into an annular groove 3b on the inside of the container wall, so that for the construction of the packaging container, the flexible container wall in the grooves of the cover are inserted, but, conversely, the container wall is placed around the cover in such a way that the edges of the cover enter the said annular groove 3b. In this case, however, for the purpose of holding the flexible container wall together it is necessary to place one of the known sealing steel straps 8 around it.
The opening of such a container is possible in a simple manner by cutting up these sealing steel strips 8, in that if this steel strip is omitted, the flexible container casing can easily be detached from the lids.
Instead of a grooved container wall according to FIG. 3, it is also possible for containers with relatively large radii of curvature to form the sheet to be bent into a container wall from narrower boards, which are held together on the outside with one or more connector strips 7, with the smallest joints between the necessary flexibility is achieved in these boards.
It would also be possible to pull the connector straps through holes provided for this purpose in the cover and to anchor them on the one hand on the inside and on the other hand on the outside of the lateral surface.
Furthermore, the packaging container can also be designed with only one end cover, in which case a U-shaped band with downwardly directed legs is slipped over the free, upper container edge, so that the upper edge enters between the legs and through the web of the band is covered. For example, fastening elements such as those shown in FIG. 7 can be used to fasten such a band.
