Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Electric timepiece The present invention relates to an electric timepiece with a motor balance and counting anchor, comprising an elastic device acting on said anchor, radially with respect to its pivot axis when it occupies its mean position, so as to tend to maintain it in one or other of its extreme positions.

Such timepieces are known, in which said elastic device acts as a jumper; the drawback of this arrangement lies mainly in the additional friction it causes. Elastic return devices are also known, but in applications foreign to watchmaking, operating without producing appreciable friction on the principle of the toggle.

The timepiece according to the invention uses the advantages of these latter devices; it is characterized by the fact that the elastic device comprises a spring in an arc of a circle articulated on the frame of the movement by one of its ends and having, at its other end, a concave part bearing on the edge of an ankle, triangular cross section, carried by the counting anchor.

The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.

Fig. 1 is a plan view of part of a timepiece, in which only the components necessary for understanding the invention have been shown, and FIG. 2 is a section taken along line II-II of FIG. 1, on an enlarged scale, in which the balance shaft has been partially shown.

The timepiece shown comprises a counting anchor 1 controlled by a motor balance, not shown, mounted on the shaft 2. This counting anchor 1 itself controls an anchor wheel 3 constituting the first mobile of a train of gears leading to the time indicating members.

The pivot shaft 4 of the anchor 1 on the frame of the movement carries, driven on it, a barrel 5 on one lug 5a from which is driven a pin 6, of triangular section, parallel to the shaft 4. A spring in circular arc 7 acts, through its free end 7a, on the peg 6; for this purpose, the end 7a of the spring 7 has a notch in which the pin 6 is engaged. This spring 7 is articulated, by its opposite end 7b, on a journal 8 carried by a plate 9 itself mounted to rotate around it. a sleeve 10 fixed by a screw 11 to the plate 12 of the movement. An eccentric 13, rotatably mounted on the plate 12, is engaged between the two branches 9a of a fork that the plate 9 presents.

By acting on this eccentric, the plate is rotated around the sleeve 10, which makes it possible to move the journal 8a away or closer to the pivot axis 4 of the anchor 1, and thus to vary the force with which the spring 7 acts on the anchor. In addition, the opening of the plate 9, designated by 14, through which the sleeve 10 and the screw 11 pass, is elongated in order to allow longitudinal movements of the plate. Thus the position of the spring 7 is adjustable laterally, which makes it possible to balance the return forces applied to the anchor on each side.

When the anchor occupies its mean position, as shown in the drawing, the spring 7 acts on it radially with respect to the pivot axis 4. As soon as the anchor has crossed this mean position, in one direction or in the at-

tre, the spring tends to move it away from this position in order to maintain it in one or other of its extreme positions.

It should be noted that, due to the triangular shape of the section of the ankle 6, the spring 7 exerts only a very low friction on the anchor.
