Description
Process for the production of one intended as a light eye on vehicle taillights
Transparent bowl and bowl made according to the process
Vehicle taillights are known in which the transparent shell intended as a luminous eye has, in addition to at least one red-colored light passage area for forming the rear light, a colorless light passage area for illuminating the license plate of the vehicle. Often a yellow light transmission area is also provided to mark the brake actuation. Up to now, such transparent shells have been made from a colorless material and then colored by applying lacquer, leaving the colorless passage area free. This paint is preferably applied on the inside, but it fades with aging and peeling off over time.
The present invention seeks to avoid these disadvantages and relates to a method for producing a transparent shell intended as a light eye on vehicle taillights, the light transmission area of which is partly colored and partly colorless.
This method is characterized in that a shell is formed from colorless transparent material and its inner side is brought into full contact with at least one shell part made from a continuously colored transparent material.
The transparent shell produced by this method is characterized in that the colorless shell is inextricably connected to at least one colored inner shell part.
The invention will then be explained in more detail using an example method.
It is assumed that the transparent shell intended as a light eye for a vehicle tail light must each have a yellow, red and colorless light transmission area. For the two differently colored light transmission areas, corresponding shell parts are made from continuously colored transparent material, for example plastic, which have a collar-shaped edge on their shell bottom that extends transversely to them. These two colored shell parts are placed side by side with their inside onto the correspondingly designed die of an injection mold.
The associated punch of the injection mold, when placed on the die and the shell parts, leaves a cavity to form the outer shell of the bucket, the inner side of which rests snugly against the bottom of the two shell parts and their edge and extends beyond it with its edge. The method consists in spraying the outer shell made of colorless transparent material onto the two shell parts with the injection mold closed and thereby connecting them to one another and to the outer shell to form a single body.
The two colored shell parts then line the bottom of the colorless shell and form in it a collar-shaped edge that is transverse to the bottom and over which the edge of the colorless shell extends and with this protruding part can form the colorless light-permeable area, the surface of which is angled towards the bottom of the shell , while the bottom of the bowl itself provides the two colored light transmission areas. The one bottom surface of the two colored shell parts is preferably faceted, it being possible for the same to face the colorless shell.
Instead of two colored shell parts, more than two or only a single one can just as easily be connected to the colorless outer shell in the manner described to form a transparent body.
