Crankcase for four-stroke in-line diesel engines The subject matter of the invention relates to a crankcase for four-stroke in-line diesel engines, which consists of an upper part containing the block for the cylinder liners and. a lower part with an oil sump. On the construction of the upper part of the crankcase who made the increased demands in terms of its Festig speed in order to prevent any deformation of the same both in operation and during processing.
A significant impact on the price. -s motor have the manufacturing costs of the cure belgehäusobeils, which is why the aim is to design the most advantageous form of the upper part, taking into account the machining.
The basic shape of the previously used crank case or its upper parts are roughly the same in cross-section as the letter A, where the two side walls are arranged at an angle and symmetrically to a vertical center plane running through the cylinder axes. Another known form of the cure belgehäuses differs from that just described enclosed in that one whole side is vertical and carries the control mechanism of the motor. The be written versions of crankcases are disadvantageous because in the manufacture of left and right motors, for.
B. for ship propulsion, two different mirror-image-like housings are necessary for each type of engine; this complicates and increases the cost of production. The machining of work or seat surfaces on the surface of the housing, which are arranged on the one hand on an inclined and on the other hand on a vertical housing surface, is also very expensive. In addition, in these crankcases the space given by their greatest width is insufficiently used.
The disadvantages mentioned are remedied according to the inven tion in that the upper part consists of one piece in the form of a prism, the cross-section of which is at least approximately T-shaped with a vertical web forming the cylinder block, with on the outer vertical side walls of the web and on the upper horizontal side wall this cross-poor sprues with seating surfaces for auxiliary devices are arranged in a symmetrical arrangement to the vertical longitudinal plane through the cylinder axes.
In the drawing, embodiments of the subject invention and already known Ge housing are shown. They show: Fig.l and 2 old versions of diesel engine crankcases, Fig. 3 the crankcase according to the invention, Fig. 4 a schematic view from above of an embodiment of the crankcase according to the invention of two on the left and the right side of a ship's space arranged motors.
The previously known crankcase according to FIG. 1 consist of the upper part 1, which each contains the block for cylinder liners and from the lower part 2 with oil sump, which are connected to each other by screws ver. The upper part of the crankcase has an approximately A-shaped basic shape with inclined to the vertical plane 0-0 symmetrically arranged sides.
The vertical plane runs through the axes of the Motorzy4, inder. The right side of the upper part is provided with consoles for control shaft bearings.
The known embodiment of the crankcase in FIG. 2 differs from the embodiment according to FIG. 1 in that the right side wall of its upper part is vertical and the bearings of the control gear are arranged within it.
In contrast, the upper part of the embodiment according to FIG. 3 has a T-shaped cross-sectional shape, the arrangement being upside down. The upper part of the body thus forms a prism with a vertical web intended for cylinder liners and a horizontal transverse arm 5.
The vertical and hori zontal sides of the upper part body have Sizes with seat surfaces for the connection of auxiliary equipment, such as injection devices, pumps, fans and functional elements of the engine, such as the control shaft for the valves, camshaft for the injection pump. The seat surfaces lie in a common vertical or a common horizontal plane on each side of the plane 0-0 determined by the cylinder axes.
The seat surface gates are symmetrical to the plane 0-0 going through the cylinder axes. Between the vertical sides of the blocks for Zylin derbuchsen, the adjacent horizontal sides of the expanded prismatic part 5 and the levels marked by broken lines in Fig. 3 are two, approximately prismatic spaces I, 1I. In these spaces you can hardly arrange the auxiliary equipment and func tion organs of the engine advantageously without them protruding essential Lich the profile of the crankcase upper part.
The casting of the upper part of the crankcase including the seat surface sprues and its machining is also symmetrical with respect to the transverse plane 111-III, which is defined by the axis of the middle partition between the cylinders in engines with an even number of cylinders (Fig. 4) or by the axis of the middle cylinder in engines with an odd number of cylinders.
The front and rear end walls of the upper part of the housing are similar to one another, both in the casting and after machining the seat surfaces, drilling out openings, etc. This condition can easily be met from the point of view of construction, even if on one Front wall not the whole number of holes for screws and. a. should be exploited.
With this design of the upper part of the crankcase, the modular arrangement can be made easier, since the crankcase remains uniform for a right and a left engine. Fig. 4 illustrates two motors, one rotating in the direction d, -s clockwise and the other rotating in the opposite direction. The lower part of the crankcase is the same in both cases. However, the upper part has z. B. the control shaft is mounted on the right side of one engine and on the left side of the other engine.
If two motors of the same size are used next to each other on a ship, one motor rotates to the left and the other rotates to the right to make it easier to operate. Both motors can be operated from a room which is between the two motors.
According to the composition of the lower part and the upper part of the housing, the crankcase of the left engine differs from that of the right engine only in that the upper part is placed on the lower part of the housing with its rear end wall facing forward, like. it is shown in FIG.
With this construction of the crankcase, it is enough apart from the advantages already mentioned to facilitate assembly and spare parts service.
