Description

Method for applying metal compounds to solid bodies In order to store metal compounds on solid bodies, the procedure so far has been that they are either chemically, electrolytically or mechanically, z. B. by rolling, embossing or in some other way, applies under pressure. These methods have disadvantages such as uneven application, impossibility of application in the case of complicated parts and the like.

A novel approach is taken with the process according to the invention. This is characterized in that the bodies are immersed in a suspension which contains the metal compounds in a finely distributed state and the metal compounds are separated from the suspension by ultrasound treatment and applied to the body surfaces. In particular, those suspensions are used that contain tungsten and molybdenum disulfide in oils or oil-water emulsions.

It has been found that with the aid of the sound impulses of an ultrasonic oscillation it is possible to apply the metal compounds in suspension in the liquid to solid bodies in an even distribution and intimate attachment. The deposition on solid bodies is favored by the well-known phenomenon that the ultrasonic waves also cause thorough cleaning of the body surfaces.

Ultrasound is used in technology for a variety of purposes, in particular for the production of stable emulsions, also for cleaning purposes, for degassing metal melts, for non-destructive testing of materials and the like.

The invention opens up a further technical field of application for ultrasound and, at the same time, a solution to the problem of bringing metal compounds from liquids to solid bodies has been found, which offers considerable advantages over the methods previously used. The inventive method is particularly suitable for applying thin self-lubricating layers, such. B. made of tungsten or molybdenum disulfide.
