 EMI1.1

 EMI1.1

A method is known according to which fabrics such as leather, fabrics of all kinds and the like are connected with cork in order to obtain products which can be used for a wide variety of purposes. In this process, the cork is pretreated by treating the thinly cut cork with a mixture of gasoline, turpentine or carbon disulfide, common glycerine, para gum and hydrochloric acid, after which the cork leaves treated in this way are applied to the fabric, leather or the like With the help of an adhesive made from petroleum ether, common rubber and acetone.

According to the present invention, the cork leaves are subjected to a known pretreatment, by means of which all mineral substances that may be present are removed. For this purpose, the cork leaves are treated in a bath of gasoline, hydrochloric acid, turpentine oil or carbon disulfide and para gum at a temperature of about 65 hours, then they are soaked in a gasoline for 3-4 hours

Forms body that can withstand the highest temperatures. At the same time, this process prevents the rubber that frequently penetrates the pores of the cork from remaining sticky.

Uie cork sheets can either be arranged in such a way that between each two cork layers treated according to the method described, a rubber layer or after

or another type of arrangement can be used. The process can also be used to bond cork to paper.
