Laminated bodies and processes for their production. The invention relates to
based on laminated bodies made using synthetic resin and thereby
are characterized in that the laminates consist of individual fiber layers,
the resins of the glycerol phthalic anhydride type that have been converted into a non-meltable form
impregnated or interspersed and through one after the union of the individual layers
Phenolic resin also converted into infusible form as a binder with one another
are connected. This phenolic resin can also be absorbed by fiber layers,
of which one between two adjacent ones, with glycerol phthalic anhydride resin
impregnated layers. The new laminated bodies are characterized by a
great resistance to impact. They are therefore particularly suitable for production
of machine parts for silent gears, of fittings, piston packings, clutches
and the like, where in addition to a high impact resistance, a certain toughness of the product
is required in conjunction with flexibility and compliance.
filzigen Erzeugnissen, beispielsweise Segeltuch, Kanevas, Zeltleinewand o. dgl.,
The invention also relates to a method for producing the new
Layered body, which consists in that the fiber-containing individual layers
with a solution of a resin of the glycerol phthalic anhydride resin type in
impregnated in a known manner and the impregnated individual layers only after
Expulsion of the solvent and after conversion of the resin into infusible form
coated with a layer of a curable phenolic resin by heating and the
individual layers prepared in this way by applying heat and pressure
are connected to one another, whereby the phenolic resin is also converted into infusible form
will. Instead of those impregnated and hardened with glycerolphthalic anhydride resin
Individual layers before their connection with each other with coatings of phenolic resin
provided, you can also choose between two with hardened glycerol phthalic anhydride resin
impregnated layers each one impregnated with a hardenable phenolic resin containing fiber
Arrange layer and using the laminated bodies obtained in this way
of heat and pressure solidify into a unified body, being during the
Pressure heat treatment the conversion of the curable phenolic resin into the infusible one
Shape is going on. . Example A base material made from fiber, e.g. B.
of paper, cardboard, asbestos paper, asbestos cardboard, asbestos fabric or of woven or
felted products, for example canvas, canvas, canvas canvas or the like,
which is adapted to the special requirements is made with a resin of the type
Glycerolphthalic anhydride resins interspersed. The term glycerol phthalic anhydride resins
is commonly used and also includes the resins produced by the reaction of polyvalent resins
Alcohols such as glycerin, polyglycerins and the like with phthalic anhydride alone or
in a mixture with dibasic or monobasic organic acids, such as
Succinic acid,
Oleic acid, stearic acid or the like can be obtained. The one formed from fiber
Layer, the resin can be incorporated in any way. So you can z. B.
proceed so that the preformed layer with an alcoholic or other solution
Treated the resin and then subsequently dried to remove the solvent
will. But you can also use the resin in fine distribution with the loose fibers z. B.
Mix in a rag cutter or Dutchman and then use this mixture to mix the
Make the paper or cardboard layer in the usual way. The manufactured in any way
and molded fiber-resin mixture is heated, suitably to temperatures of
100 to 150 degrees, until the resin has passed into the tough, infusible form, in
which it is resistant to water and the usual solvents. If you like that
Layers produced one on top of the other and the action of a heated press
exposes, they unite only imperfectly to form a layered body. Leads
if the heat compression is done before the resin has become insoluble, then the union is
of the individual layers is better, the conversion of the resin into the infusible
and then insoluble form is slow and incomplete.
For this reason, according to the invention, those with glycerolphthalic anhydride resin
impregnated and previously subjected to the heat treatment layers z.
B. by dipping or spraying with a heat curable varnish on the front
Type of phenol-methylene-resin varnish coated and then to drive off the solvent
heated, but without arranging such temperatures or such procedures that
the hardenable character of the phenolic resin is lost. The ones covered with varnish
Any number of individual layers are then superimposed and applied
of heat and pressure in a mold or between heated plates to form a layered body
united. The heat and pressure are allowed to act until the hardenable
Phenolic resin has passed into the infusible and insoluble form.
Instead of the fiber-containing individual layers with a varnish film
of a curable phenolmethylene resin, one can choose between them too
Arrange layers of absorbent paper or fabric that coincide with such
curable resin impregnated and dried afterwards. The by alternate
Laying the two different layers formed composite is then in the same
Way completed as above.
A layered body made of canvas, with your individual. Alternating layers
finite with a resin of the glycerolphthalic anhydride resin type and with a phenolmethylene resin
are impregnated, forms layers after pressing and heat treatment,
which are tough, strong and very resistant to impact. Such laminates are suitable
excellent for the production of parts for silent gears and the like.
It can be beneficial, especially when using articles
made of asbestos to arrange the individual layers so that the outer layers of the
Paper or fabric are impregnated with phenol methylene resin. This will not
only improves the surface, it also prevents the individual laminated bodies
glue in the mold.
