Machine for treating the surface of metallic objects The present invention relates to a machine for treating the surface of metallic objects by spraying liquid.
This treatment may consist of cleaning small parts, creaming dials for measuring devices, in particular watch dials. As regards this latter treatment, it is known that the dials, after silvering, are bleached by spraying with a spray gun a slurry composed essentially of cream of tartar. Until now this treatment was done by hand, with all the irregularities of manual work. It is in fact materially impossible for the worker assigned to this work to treat all the dials identically and even to treat the entire surface of the same dial on a regular basis.
The machine according to the present invention obviates these drawbacks and provides a production considerably greater than that of a worker. In addition, it does not require the employment of specialized labor, its service being limited to placing the parts to be treated and removing the treated parts.
This machine is characterized by a rotating part holder driving the objects to be treated and presenting them successively in two different positions of about 90 ° opposite two nozzles moving at the same frequency and with the same amplitude.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the machine according to the invention. Fig. 1 is a perspective view thereof, while FIG. 2 is a schematic plan view of the machine.
This machine comprises, supported by two pairs of legs 6, a sheet metal casing 1 of approximately parallelepipedal shape inside which takes place the treatment of the surface of metal parts which is placed on a workpiece carrier constituted by a horizontal turntable 4 which partially protrudes from the casing 1. The front wall 2 of this casing consists of a door opening upwards; part of the door panel is made up of a glass plate 3.
This glass 3 descends to the proximity of the plate 4; the distance between its lower edge and the plate 4 is a little greater than the thickness of the parts to be treated. Height adjustment of the glass plate can be provided.
This plate 4 is formed by a disc at the end of a lattice fixed on a vertical shaft 27. A work table 5 is in front of the casing 1, at the level of the plate 4.
Below the housing 1 is a hopper 8 with drain valve 7 in which collects the product used for the treatment.
The upper part 1a of the casing contains (see fig. 2) the mechanism of the machine which actuates the plate 4 and the jets 11 which will be discussed later. This mechanism comprises an electric motor 12, a first speed variator 13, a second speed variator 14, a transmission going from the variator 13 to the axis of the plate 4 and a drive unit connecting the variator 14 to the jets 11 'and 11 " .
The motor 12 drives the two variators simultaneously by belts. The output shaft 25 of the variator 13 carries a worm 26 'which drives a helical wheel 26 "wedged on the upper end of the shaft 27 of the plate 4. The latter can therefore be driven in rotation at speed. constant and adjustable at will by operating lever 9 of variator 13 (fig. 1).
The output shaft of the variator 14 carries a crank 15 which is connected by a connecting rod to one end of an angled lever 17, the other end of which is articulated to a connecting rod 18 connected on the other hand to an arm 19 integral with a vertical shaft 21 '. This shaft 21 ', mounted on ball bearings 21, carries at its lower end a horizontal arm 22' in the free end of which is mounted a vertical nozzle 11 'directed downwards. The shaft 21 'is placed to the right of the shaft 27. A similar shaft 21 "with arm 22" carrying a nozzle 11 "is disposed symmetrically to the left. A rod 23 connects the two arms 22' and 22".
The point of articulation of the connecting rod 18 to the arm 19 is adjustable along this arm thanks to the longitudinal slot 20. It is clear that when the engine 12 is started, the nozzles 11 'and 11 "both describe an arc of a circle oscillating in the hori zontal plane The amplitude of the oscillation can be adjusted by moving the pivot point of the connecting rod 18. The oscillation frequency is adjusted by acting on the operating lever 10 ( fig. 1) of the speed controller 14.
Nozzles 11 'and 11 "can also be adjusted in height by moving arms 22' and 22" along shafts 21 'and 21 ".
We thus dispose. several adjustment factors to adapt the machine to the type of treatment and to the nature and dimensions of the parts to be treated. Assuming that these are watch dials to be bleached, for example, the procedure is as follows: A suitable quantity of slurry is placed in hopper 8 in which two flexible tubes (not shown) are immersed. to nozzles 11 'and 11 "which are furthermore connected to a source of compressed air.
The compressed air valve is opened and this air flows into the jets, sucking in the slurry. This gives two vertical jets, which can be adjusted by acting on the compressed air valve. A few dials are then placed on plate 4, the feet of which will pass through the meshes of the trellis; these dials are placed near the edge of the plate.
Engine 12 is started; the dials are thus successively brought first under the trajectory of the first nozzle which sweeps them each several times, and then under the trajectory of the second nozzle which sweeps the dials in a direction substantially perpendicular to that of the first sweep, the angle 11 '-27-11 "being approximately 90 ##. We see that all the dials are thus treated in exactly the same way.
The worker constantly adds dials to be treated on plate 4 and removes the treated dials as they leave the machine. The transparent panel 3 protects it from splashes and allows it to monitor the work.
According to another working method, the parts holder being removable, it could be loaded, before its introduction into the housing, with several rows of dials. Once the treatment is finished, all you have to do is remove the workpiece carrier and start the same operation again.
A fan (not shown) is mounted in the rear part of the housing 1 to evacuate the air and prevent the latter from leaving the slot between the glass 3 and the plate 4 or from being forced into the upper part of the housing 1. A filter placed in front of the fan retains the slurry that the sucked air could entrain.
Door 2 is used for inspection and cleaning of the machine.
In another embodiment not shown, the jets, instead of being carried by two oscillating arms, could, while occupying the same position as that indicated in the drawing, be mounted on a sliding bar driven by a movement back and forth which is communicated to it by the intermediary of a drive by the variator 10.
