<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Machine for winding a wire on an arc-shaped core Winding a wire is easy when the core of the spool is straight, but it is more, delicate when it is a core in the form of an arc. bow. It is no longer possible to rotate the core to produce the winding. Machines are known for winding on an arc-shaped core of large dimensions, comprising a member carrying the wire which rotates around the core, passing alternately inside and outside the arc formed by the core.
This winding process is no longer possible for cores of too small dimensions to allow the passage of the member carrying the wire inside the arc formed by the core.
The object of the invention is to provide a machine making it possible to automatically wind a wire on an arc-shaped core, whatever the size of this core.
The machine forming the subject of the present invention, for winding a wire on an arc-shaped core, is characterized in that it comprises a rotor having an axial recess and a guide for the wire, means for supporting the rotor and make it turn around its axis, a magazine for the wire mounted to rotate freely on the rotor, a support intended to hold the core in the axial recess of the rotor, and mayens to oscillate the support in order to give to the nucleus a back and forth movement in its plane,
the wire passing through the guide and being fixed by its end to said core, so that the simultaneous rotation of the rotor and the oscillating movement of the support ensure the winding of the wire on the core.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the machine according to the invention. Fig. 1 is an end view of a group of components included in this embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a section on 2-2 of FIG. 3. Fig. 3 is an end view of the group shown in fg. 1, seen from the other side and partially broken away.
Fig. 4 is an elevational view, partially in section, of part of this embodiment. Fig. 5 is a plan view corresponding to FIG. 4.
In the embodiment shown, the machine comprises a rotor 1 comprising a cylindrical hub 2 having an axial recess 3. The hub 2 is in one piece with a cheek 4 on which a disc 5 is fixed by screws 6.
The rotor has a radial recess 7 which connects the axial recess 3 to the outer periphery of the hub. It carries a guide 8 formed by a steel wire anchored by one end in the hub 2 and carrying guide eyelets 9 at its free end.
A magazine 10 for a wire 11 to be wound, for example insulated copper, is mounted to rotate freely on the rotor by means of a ball bearing 12. On its free cheek, the magazine comprises fins 13, the role of which will be explained. further. The free end of the wire 11 in the magazine 10 is passed through the eyelets 9 of the guide 8, then through the radial recess 7 of the rotor to be fixed on a core 14 in an arc of a circle to be wound.
The machine comprises a wall 15 carrying two idle rollers 16 and 17 and a drive roller 18 capable of being set in rotation by means. not shown.
The rotor 1 is supported by these three rollers, as can be clearly seen in FIG. 4, and can be put
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
rotating around its axis by the friction drive exerted on it by the drive roller 18.
On its frame, the machine carries a plate 19 capable of rotating around a shaft 20 under the action of non-means. represented. The plate 19 carries a fixed eyelet 21 on which is mounted a socket 22 which is fixed to the eyelet 21 by a screw 23. The socket 22 carries a support 24 for the core 14, consisting of a fixed jaw 25 and a jaw 26 'capable of to rotate about an axis 27. A spring 28 mounted in a recess of the sleeve 22 and resting at its other end against the jaw 24 tends. to keep the clamp formed by these two jaws closed.
This clamp can therefore hold the core 14 in a circular arc (FIG. 5) so that the center of this arc is placed on the extension of the axis of the shaft 20.
The machine also comprises a nozzle 29 arranged so as to direct a jet of air coming from a source not shown against the fins 13 of the magazine 10.
To wind the core, you must first place the wire 11 as indicated above and fix its free end to this core. The rotor 1 is then set in rotation under the action of the drive roller 18. The rotor rotates in the direction of clockwise movement, looking at FIG. 3. It can be seen clearly in this figure that the guide 8, integral with the rotor, drives the wire, forcing it to unwind from the magazine 10 and to wind around the core 14.
At the same time, the plate 19 is made to oscillate in order to give the core 14 a back and forth movement in its plane and around its center. The rotation of the rotor 1 around its axis and the simultaneous oscillation of the core 14 around its center thus ensures perfect winding of the core. The pitch of this winding obviously depends on the ratio between the speed of rotation of the rotor and the speed of oscillation of the core. The machine shown is arranged to oscillate the core at an angle slightly less than half the angle of the arc formed by this core, so that the wire 11 is wound on the core between one end of the latter and its central part.
Obviously, the angle of oscillation of the plate 19 can be adjusted as desired.
By sending air through the nozzle 29 against the fins 13, the rotation of the magazine 10 can be accelerated, rotation which is normally determined by the traction exerted by the wire 11 on this magazine when the wire is unwound under the action of the rotor. It is therefore possible to regulate, by the air jet, the tension in the wire 11 during winding. If the wire breaks when the machine is stopped, an electromagnet (not shown) automatically controls a brake which stops the magazine 10 so as to prevent unwinding of the wire. The machine may include means for automatically varying the flow rate of the air stream in proportion to the speed of rotation of the magazine 10.
Let us say as an example that the described machine can wind a core with a diameter of 24 mm with an insulated copper wire with a diameter of 0.03-0.05 mm, the speed of the rotor can reach up to 6000 revolutions / minute.
The machine could include an electronic decade counter recording the number of coils wound and automatically controlling a gradual increase in speed to normal winding speed, then a decrease in speed to reach the stop of the winding when the wire reaches a end of the torus. and as soon as the number of turns is reached, the decade counter being controlled by a photoelectric device.
The machine could also include a servomotor device and a variable speed drive motor electronically controlled by a decade counter making it possible to increase and decrease the winding speed, the latter being able to be determined as a function of time or of the number. of wound turns.
