Clockwork movement The present invention relates to a clockwork movement according to claim II of the main patent, which is characterized in that a single piece of magnetizable material is connected to the balance and that the control coil and the coil of 'drive are arranged such that said part of magnetizable material is in a symmetrical position relative to the coils when the balance passes at least approximately through the zero position.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the timepiece forming the subject of the invention. Only what is necessary for understanding the invention has been shown in the drawing.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view.
Fig. 2 represents the electrical diagram of the device.
The clockwork movement shown in FIG. 1 comprises a balance 1 whose axis 2 pivots, on the one hand, in the plate 3 and, on the other hand, in a bridge 4 fixed to the plate. A hairspring 6 of the usual type is attached by its inner end to a ferrule 7 maintained on the axis 2, while its outer end is fixed to the bridge 4 by means of a stud 8.
The rim of the balance 1 carries a magnet 9. In the vicinity of the balance 1 is arranged a magnetic core coil 10, comprising two coils 13 and 14, so that, when the balance 1 oscillates, the part 9 passes freely in the 'air gap of the core 10, which is fixed relative to the plate 3. The core 10 and the part 9 are arranged in such a way that when the balance is in its rest position or zero position, the magnet 9 is entirely and symmetrically engaged in the air gap of the common core 10 of coils 13 and 14. It is this position which is shown in the drawing.
The timepiece further comprises a direct current source 11 and an electronic switch 12, formed in the case shown in the drawing by a transistor.
In fig. 2, we see the core 10 with its two coils 13 and 14; the coil 13 is inserted in the control circuit of the electronic device: in the diagram of fig. 2, the emitter-base circuit of transistor 12. The second coil 14 and the electric current source 11 are inserted into the controlled circuit of the electronic organ: in the diagram, the collector-base circuit of transistor 12.
The coupling coefficient of the transformer formed by the coils 13 and 14 and by the core 10 is so high that the assembly shown normally works in the manner of a blocking oscillator. The natural frequency of the blocking oscillator can be chosen to be slightly lower than the frequency of the balance wheel, the blocking oscillator thus being synchronized by the control pulses induced in the coil 13.
The operation is as follows: When the balance 1 is moved away from its equilibrium position, then released, the magnet 9 induces, by its passage through the air gap of the core 10, an alternating voltage in. the coils 13 and 14. The voltage induced in the collector circuit has no practical effect, while that which is induced in the emitter-base circuit of transistor 12 causes current variations in the collector circuit.
If the emitter voltage is zero or positive with respect to the base, the collector current tends towards zero; on the contrary, the collector current is large if the emitter voltage is negative with respect to the base.
We see that if we apply between the emitter and the base of the transistor 12 the alternating voltage generated in the coil 13 by the passage of the

mant 9, the collector-base current will be almost zero during the positive half-wave and on the contrary significant during the negative half-wave. The large current flowing in the collector-base circuit induced in. the core 10 a magnetic field, which can either attract or repel the magnet 9 depending on the direction of the flow.
By taking into account the phase shifts of the voltages and currents and by applying to the coils 13 and 14, if necessary, additional phase shifting means such as capacitors, capacitors in series with resistors, etc., the elements can be calculated. in such a way that the movement of the magnet 9 generates an electric pulse in the emitter-base circuit of the transistor.
This pulse of suitable polarity, amplified in the base-collector circuit, creates a magnetic field in the core 10 which, by means of the magnet 9, gives a mechanical impulse to the balance 1; this impulse must be of such magnitude that it compensates for the losses due to friction and other possible losses as well as the mechanical energy used to advance the gear train if the advance of this gear is done mechanically. If the elements of this set are calculated correctly, the oscillations of balance 1 are maintained.
According to a variant, the core 10 could comprise only a single coil connected with the transistor, for example in the manner indicated in FIGS. 5 and 6 of the main patent.
