La pièce d'horlogerie représentée comprend un balancier 1 dont l'arbre 2 est pivoté entre la platine 3 du mouvement d'une part et le coq 4 d'autre part. L'arbre 2 porte un plateau 5 commandant une ancre de comptage 6 destinée à transformer les mouvements oscillants du balancier 1 en un mouvement rotatif discontinu d'un mobile non représenté relié aux aiguilles. Le spiral réglant est désigné par 7 ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Timepiece with electromagnetically maintained oscillating regulator member The present invention relates to a timepiece with electromagnetically maintained oscillating regulator member, of the type in which the movement of the regulator member produces by induction, in a sensor winding, a signal. pulse controlling the supply of a motor winding.
In timepieces of this type, the sensor and motor windings are most often fixed, the respective magnetic fields being mobile, generally produced by magnets carried by the oscillating regulator member. These magnetic fields are inevitably weak so that the signal produced in the sensor winding is too.
The aim of the present invention is mainly to remedy this drawback.
The timepiece according to the invention is characterized by the fact that it comprises a single permanent and fixed magnetic field, the flux of which passes through the sensor winding, also fixed and crosses the space in which said regulator oscillates, the latter carrying both the motor winding and a deflecting magnetic screen arranged so that when passing said screen the magnetic flux passing through the sensor winding varies, thus producing the pulse signal which controls the power supply to the motor winding , the latter then also being in said magnetic field.
The drawing in which only the components necessary for understanding the invention have been represented, illustrates by way of example an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a section passing through the axis of the balance of a part of a timepiece. Fig. 2 is a plan view. Fig. 3 is a diagram of the variations of the magnetic flux and of the voltage induced in the sensor winding, as a function of time, and FIG. 4 is a block diagram of the electrical circuit of the timepiece.
The timepiece shown comprises a balance 1, the shaft 2 of which is pivoted between the plate 3 of the movement on the one hand and the cock 4 on the other. The shaft 2 carries a plate 5 controlling a counting anchor 6 intended to transform the oscillating movements of the balance 1 into a discontinuous rotary movement of a mobile not shown connected to the hands. The regulating balance spring is designated by 7;
its inner end is fixed to a ferrule 8 electrically insulated from the shaft 2 of the balance by a sleeve 9 made of polytetrafluoroethylene (Teflon brand product) for example.
The oscillations of the balance 1 are maintained electromagnetically by the following device A fixed magnetic field is produced by a first permanent magnet 10, in the form of a pad, the axis and magnetization of which are parallel to the shaft 2, which is located under the balance, and by a second magnet 11, in the form of a stud, the axis and magnetization of which are also parallel to the shaft 2. These two magnets are connected by a sheet of iron 12. The magnet 11 also carries a second sheet of iron, designated by 13, the free end of which is located above the magnet 10.
The lines of force of the magnetic field thus cut the space in which the balance 1 moves, perpendicular to the plane
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
of the last. The two magnets 10 and 11 are preferably made of materials with high remanence and coercivity such as the alloys of Al, Ni, Co (for example the product of the Alnico brand) or of Ti, Co, A1 (for example the Ticonal brand product) or also by permanent magnet ferrites, for example the brand name product (Ferroxdur), a material exhibiting high resistivity which reduces eddy current losses.
The end of the iron sheet 13 carries a sensor winding 14 provided with a core 15 of soft ferrite (for example the Ferroxcube brand product).
The balance 1 carries a motor winding 16 arranged so as to be located exactly under the sensor winding 14 when the balance is in its equilibrium position. This motor winding 16 is provided with a central core 17 which is extended by a deflector screen 17a also made of soft ferrite.
The power supply circuit of the winding 16 passes through the regulating hairspring 7 electrically isolated from the frame of the movement by the sleeve 9 and by the fixing eyebolt of its outer end, not shown, also in an insulating material, or mounted on the rooster via an insulating pad; the supply circuit of the winding 16 passes on the other hand through the frame of the movement. To this end, one of the ends of the winding 16 is connected, at 18, to the balance 1 and the latter is electrically connected to the plate 3 by an additional hairspring 19 fixed to a stud 20.
This additional hairspring is thin enough to produce no significant additional torque on the balance.
The motor winding 16 is connected on the one hand to the collector of a transistor 21 and on the other hand to the negative terminal of a current source 22, for example a 1.3 volt battery (FIG. 4). The positive terminal of this current source 22 is itself connected to the emitter of transistor 21. Finally, the sensor winding 14 is connected on the one hand to the base of transistor 21 and on the other hand to the emitter of this transistor.
The operation of this timepiece is as follows. During oscillations of the balance, the sensor winding 14 is traversed by a constant magnetic field as long as the screen 17a is not in said field. As soon as the screen enters the magnetic field, it drifts the latter through the air gap 23 due to the fact that the reluctance of the latter is notably lower than that of the air gap 24. The magnetic flux passing through the sensor winding varies. thus when the screen 17a passes along the curve 25 of FIG. 3 in which the balance position of the balance has been indicated by an axis 26.
This variation of the flux produces, by induction, a voltage in the winding 14, according to the law
EMI2.43
represented by the curve 27 of FIG. 3. This signal applied between the base and the emitter of transistor 21 unlocks the latter so that the motor winding 16 is then supplied by the source 22. In the embodiment shown, the arrangement is such that when the screen enters the magnetic field, the balance then approaching its equilibrium position, the pulse produced in the sensor winding 14 has no effect.
The core 17 and the screen 17a are then attracted by the magnetic field, which supplies the balance with the energy necessary for its maintenance. On the contrary, when the balance moves away from its position of equilibrium, the screen 17a then exiting the magnetic field, the current from the source 22 passes through the winding 16, which neutralizes the effect of the magnetic field and thus eliminates the braking that would be caused by the attraction thereof. This process is symmetrical and therefore occurs regardless of the direction of movement of the balance.
The arrangement described and shown has the advantage of allowing the use of relatively long magnets - the magnet 11 has practically the height of the movement - whose section can be dimensioned very freely. It is thus possible to concentrate a large magnetic field in the air gap. The signal produced in the sensor winding is thus improved, as is the operation of the timepiece, particularly its insensitivity to temperature variations since it is not necessary to bias the base of the transistor, as it is This is the case with arrangements in which the signal collected at the terminals of the sensor coil is less important.
The invention is not limited to the embodiment described and shown: thus the magnetic field can be produced by a single magnet instead of two; the motor winding may be arranged at one end of the arm of the balance instead of being located, as in the present embodiment, at the end of a diameter perpendicular to this arm. It should be noted that the part of the balance located opposite the motor winding, not shown in the drawing, will preferably have a thickening intended to form a balancing counterweight.
Finally, the additional hairspring 19, instead of producing only a very low torque, could on the contrary have the same characteristics as the regulating hairspring 7, so that its action will be added to that of the latter, their winding being of preferably in the opposite direction.
