EMI0001.0046
besonders wertvoll, worin B eine azogruppenfreie, vorzugsweise sulfonsäuregruppenhaltige Azokompo- nente bedeutet.
Als löslichmachende Gruppen kommen vor allem ionisierende Gruppen, wie die Carboxyl- und die Sul- fonsäuregruppe, in Betracht. Diese Gruppen können im Farbstoffmolekül beliebig verteilt sein;

EMI0003.0027
Enthalten die erfindungsgemässen Farbstoffe me- tallkomplexbildende Gruppen, z.

Process for the production of new azo dye% The present invention relates to a process for the production of new valuable water-soluble azo dyes which contain a halogenated triazine residue which is bound to an aromatic nucleus of the dye molecule via an oxygen atom which is not in the vicinity of an azo group .
This process is characterized in that coupling of coupling components with diazo compounds produces azo dyes which contain at least one acidic water-solubilizing group and an aromatically bonded free oxy group that is not adjacent to the azo group, and these then also in the oxy group at least two halogen atoms containing triazines so condensed,
that at least one exchangeable halogen atom is still present in the condensation product formed, or that first the coupling component or the diazo component or a derivative containing a radical that can be converted into eire sol che instead of the amino group is condensed with the halotriazine and then, if necessary, after conversion of said residue into the amino group, dianotated and coupled.
Of the dyes obtainable according to the invention, the azo dyes of the formula (1) XDN = NA containing at least two sulfonic acid groups are of particular interest, in which A is the radical of an azo component which may contain azo groups and X is an oxygen atom not adjacent to the azo group to the radical D of a diazo component bonded halotriazine radical of the formula
EMI0001.0040
means wherein Z is a chlorine atom or z.
B. an optionally substituted amino or oxy group be indicates. Among the dyes of the formula (1) are the monoazo dyes of the formula, if only because of their easy accessibility
EMI0001.0046
particularly valuable where B is an azo component which is free of azo groups and preferably contains sulfonic acid groups.
Particularly suitable solubilizing groups are ionizing groups, such as the carboxyl and sulphonic acid groups. These groups can be distributed as desired in the dye molecule;
thus two such groups can be present in one of the dye components used for dye formation, while the other dye component is either free of such groups, or both dye components can each contain at least one carboxyl or sulfonic acid group.
The halotriazine radical is preferably a dichlorotriazine radical of the formula
EMI0002.0008
Diazo components containing such a halotriazine radical can be prepared by methods known per se from 1 mol of cyanuric chloride and 1 mol of an aromatic, preferably monocyclic compound,
in addition to an oxy group, a substituent which can be converted into an amino group, e.g. B. have a nitro group, which is converted into an NH group after the reaction with cyanuric chloride. Because of the easier accessibility, those from 2-amino-4-oxy-benzene-l-sulfonic acid by condensation with 1 mol of cyanuric chloride (2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine)
or with 1 mole of a dihalide of the formula
EMI0002.0032
(where Z is an optionally substituted oxy or amino group) obtainable diazo components of this type are particularly valuable.
The condensations with the halotriazines are expediently carried out in the presence of acid-binding agents such as sodium acetate or sodium carbonate. In all of these reactions it is of course necessary to proceed in such a way that at least one exchangeable halogen atom remains in the finished product.
The following are examples of diazo components obtainable in this way: The condensation product of the formula
EMI0002.0046
and corresponding condensation products in which one of the two chlorine atoms is replaced by the remainder of an alcohol or phenol or an amine.
These condensation products are then dissolved and combined with azo components which, thanks to the presence of an amino or oxy group or an enolizable keto group, can couple.
As azo components of this type, for. B. ver used: ß-ketocarboxylic acid esters or amides that can couple in a-position, z.
B. acetoacetic acid arylides, pyrazolones, in particular 5-pyrazolones, which can couple in the 4-position, such as 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 1-phenyl-3-methyl- 5-pyrazolone-2'-, -3'- or -4'-sulfonic acid, 1-phenyl-5-pyrazolone-3-carboxylic acid, 5-pyrazolone-3-carboxamides,
Barbituric acids, oxyquinolines and phenols such as 8-oxyquinoline, 2,4-dioxyquinoline, p-cresol, 2-carboxy-1-oxybenzene, naphthols such as α- or β-naphthol, aromatic amines of the benzene or naphthalene series, e.g.
B. cresidine, o- or m-toluidine, p-xylidine, a- or ss-naphthylamine, 2-oxynaphthalene sulfonic acid amides, but above all amino and / or oxynaphthalene sulfonic acids or
their N-alkyl, N-aryl or N-acyl derivatives, such as 1-oxynaphthalene-3-, -4-, -5- or -8-sulfonic acid, 2-oxynaphthalene-4-, -5-, -6- , -7- or -8-sulfonic acid, 1,8-dioxynaphthalene- 3,6-disulfonic acid, 2-oxynaphthalene-3,6- or
-6,8-disulfonic acid, 1-oxynaphthalene-3,6- or -3,8-disulfonic acid, 2-aminonaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid, 2-amino-8-oxynaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid, 2-amino -6-oxynaphthalene-8-sulfonic acid, 2-amino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid, 2-phenylamino-5-oxynaphth.aline-7-sulfonic acid, 2-methylamino-8-oxyn, aphthalene-6 sulfonic acid,
2-phenylamino-8-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid, 1-amino-8-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid, 1-amino-8-oxynaphthalene-2,4-, -3,6- or -4, 6-disulfonic acid and the N-acyl derivatives of these aminonaphthol sulfonic acids, which z.
B. an acetyl, propionyl, butyryl, chloroacetyl, benzoyl, o-, m- or p-chlorobenzoyl, nitrobenzoyl, tertiary butylbenzoyl, 3'- or 4'-aminobenzoyl, methane or ethanesulfonyl ,
p-toluenesulfonyl or chlorobenzenesulfonyl radical or a carbomethoxy or carboethoxy radical or a radical derived from a cyanuric acid, such as. B. a residue of the formula
EMI0002.0152
contain, in which both Y represent halogen atoms, oxy groups or amino groups, in particular substituted amino groups.
Also suitable as azo components are 5,5'-dioxy-2,2'-dinaphthylurea-7,7'-disulfonic acid and 5,5'-dioxy-2,2'-dinaphthylamine-7,7'-disulfonic acid which, like 1-amino-8-oxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid, can be combined twice with the specified diazo components.
Couplable compounds which contain azo groups can also be used as azo components, such as. B. the monoazo compound, which one z. B. by acidic coupling of simple diazo compounds of the benzene or naphthalene series (e.
B. diazotized naphthylamines, anilines such as chloro- or nitroanilines, toluidines, 2-aminobenzoic acids, 5-nitro-2-aminobenzoic acids or nitroaminophenols, chloraminophenols, etc.) with 2-amino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid or with 1-oxy-8-amino-naphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid can produce.
These monoazo compounds are best coupled under alkaline conditions. Finally, couplable metal complex compounds can also be used as azo components, e.g. B. the couplable dyes of the For mel
EMI0003.0027
which can be produced by methods known per se.
The diazotization of the amines can be carried out by methods known per se, e.g. B. with the help of mineral acid, especially hydrochloric acid and sodium nitrite, success conditions. If the condensation with the halogen triazine has been carried out before the coupling, the coupling must of course be carried out under such conditions that the halogen atom or atoms in the triazine ring do not react, z.
B. in a weakly acidic medium, if this is possible because of the selected azo components; If you use those azo components which can be coupled better under alkaline conditions, it is advisable to carry out the coupling in a weakly alkaline medium and at temperatures which are kept as low as possible.
As I said, the condensation with the halotriazines can only be carried out after the coupling.
So you can z. B. condense the azo dyes obtained from the azo components given above by coupling with di-anotized 2-amino-4-oxybenzene-l-sulfonic acid on the remaining free oxy group of the diazo component with halotriazines of the formula (3).
In addition to cyanuric chloride, the primary condensation products of 1 mole of cyanuric chloride and 1 mole of one of the following compounds are possible as such halotriazines:
Alcohols and phenols such as methyl, ethyl or butyl alcohol, phenol, o-, m- or p-cresol, 4-secondary butylphenol, 4-tertiary amylphenol, dialkylphenols, p-chlorophenol, ammonia, methyl-, dimethyl-, Ethyl, diethyl, isopropyl, butyl, hexyl, phenyl,
Tolyl-, 4-chlorophenyl-, N-methylphenyl- or cyclohexylamine, also β-chloroethylamine, ethanolamines, acetamide, butyric acid amide, urea, thiourea, toluenesulfonic acid amide, glycol, aminocarboxylic acid esters such as the methyl or ethyl ester,
Aminoacetic acid ethyl ester, aminoacetamide, 1-aminobenzene-2,5-disulfonic acid, 1-aminobenzene-3- or -4-sulfonic acid or their sulfamides or sulfones.
The condensation of the finished dyes with the specified halotriazines is also carried out in such a way that at least one halogen atom is not exchanged.
The introduction of the halotriazine radical in the finished dyes is indicated if one wants to produce such dyes which contain a coupling compound as a azo component in a relatively strongly alkaline medium. This method of preparation easily avoids the danger of the strongly alkaline media for the remaining halogen atoms of the triazine nucleus by carrying out the condensation with cyanuric chloride in a weakly acidic to weakly alkaline medium after the dye has been prepared in a strongly alkaline medium .
The chlorotriazine dyes prepared by the present process and its modification can, if they still have a reactive oxy or amino group, be condensed with a further mole of halotriazine, and dyes are obtained that have the characteristic halotriazine grouping several times. From the production medium, the dyes obtained by the present process, despite the presence of labile halogen atoms, for.
B. isolated by salting out and filtering and processed into usable, dry dye preparations. The insulation is preferably carried out at the lowest possible temperatures by salting out and filtering. The filtered dyes can optionally be dried after adding neutral or very weakly alkaline reactants to the coupage agents; the drying is preferably carried out at temperatures that are not too high, if appropriate under reduced pressure.
In certain cases, dry preparations can be prepared directly by spray drying the entire preparation mixture for the dyes. H. without inter isolating the dyes.
These new dyes are suitable for dyeing and printing a wide variety of materials, in particular cellulosic textile materials such as linings, regenerated cellulose and, above all, cotton and synthetic fibers made from viscose or from polyvinyl alcohol. The dyes according to the invention which have a dichlorotriazine radical are particularly suitable for dyeing according to the so-called.
Cold dyeing process, according to which the dyeing is produced at room temperature or at a moderately elevated temperature in aqueous, salt-containing, alkaline baths, while the dyes, which contain only one chlorine atom bonded to the triazine nucleus, are primarily used for dyeing after Printing and padding processes are suitable. According to this process, very real dyeings and prints are obtained if the dyes applied to the material to be colored are there in the presence of alkali, e.g. B. are fixed by steaming.
If the dyes according to the invention contain metal complex-forming groups, e.g. B. o, o'-Dioxyazo groupings or o-Oxycarboxygruppierungen, as they occur in salicylic acid residues, so the resulting colorations with metal donating, z. B. chromium donating, but preferably kupferab donating agents are treated. The treatment with the metal-releasing agents can also be carried out in substance by customary methods known per se.
In many cases, very valuable dyeings can be obtained if one works according to the method according to which the dyeings made with the metal-free dyes are aftertreated with such aqueous solutions that contain water-soluble, in particular complex copper compounds and basic formaldehyde Contain condensation products from compounds which contain at least one atom group
EMI0004.0018
in the molecule, or which, like cyanamide, can easily pass into such compounds.
The dyeings obtainable on cellulose-containing fibers with the new dyes are generally distinguished by the purity of their shades, good lightfastness and, above all, excellent washfastness.
In the following examples, unless otherwise stated, the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight, and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Example 1 21.1 parts of 2-amino-4-oxybenzene-1-sulfonic acid sodium are dissolved in 100 parts of water at about 40,
acidified with 40 parts of hydrochloric acid 30o / aig and, after the addition of ice, diazotized at 0-5 with 25 parts by volume of 4N sodium nitrite solution. The resulting di-azo compound is added to a solution, cooled to 0 with ice, of 26 parts of 1- (4'-sulfo) -phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone in 100 parts of water,
60 parts by volume of 10N sodium hydroxide solution and 54 parts of sodium acetate (CH 3 CO 2 Na - 3 H 2 O) were added. After the coupling has ended, the deposited dye is filtered off and washed with 10% sodium chloride solution. The dye paste obtained is suspended in 500 parts of water and made slightly brilliant alkaline with dilute sodium hydroxide solution.
50 parts by volume of 2N sodium carbonate solution are then added and the solution is cooled to 0 by adding ice. A solution of 18.5 parts of cyanuric chloride in 100 parts by volume of acetone is then added, 50 parts by volume of 2N sodium carbonate solution are gradually added, and further ice is added to ensure that the temperature does not rise above 10.
After condensation has taken place, the dye is separated off by adding 50 g of sodium chloride, filtered and washed with a 5% sodium chloride solution which is slightly brilliantly alkaline with sodium bicarbonate.
The dye, dried in a vacuum at 30-40, dissolves in water with a yellow color and dyes cotton from baths containing sodium chloride and sofia at 20-50 in washfast yellow tones.
Example 2 21.1 parts of 2-amino-4-oxybenzene-1-sulfonic acid sodium are diazotized as in Example 1 and with a solution, cooled to 0, of 44 parts of 1-benzoylamino-8-oxynaphthalene -3,6-disulfonic acid (alkali salt) coupled in 200 parts by volume of 2N sodium carbonate solution. When the coupling is complete, the dye is separated off by adding sodium chloride and filtered off. The dye paste obtained is suspended in 500 parts of water and made slightly brilliantly alkaline with dilute sodium hydroxide solution.
50 parts by volume of 2N sodium carbonate solution are then added and the solution is cooled to 0 by adding ice. A solution of 18.5 parts of cyanuric chloride in 100 parts by volume of acetone is then added, 50 parts by volume of 2N sodium carbonate solution are gradually added, and additional ice is added to ensure that the temperature does not rise above 10.
After condensation has taken place, the dye is separated off by adding 50 g of sodium chloride, filtered and washed with a 5% sodium chloride solution which is slightly brilliantly alkaline with sodium bicarbonate. The dye, dried in vacuo at 30 to 40, dissolves in water with a blue-red color and dyes cotton from salzhalti gem, sofia-alkaline bath at 30-50 in pure blue-red tones.
The same dye is obtained if the 2-amino-4-oxybenzene-1-sulfonic acid is condensed in an alkaline solution at about 0 with cyanuric chloride and the monocondensation product obtained is diazotized and treated with 1-benzoylamino-8-oxynaphthalene-3,6- disulfonic acid couples.
