Fig. 24 is a perspective view of the transferable film shown in in FIG. 21.
Fig. 25 is a perspective view of the sheet obtained.
In fig. 1 and 2, S represents the side of a magnetic recording sheet which is to be used on a magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus, and has been indicated by 1 a sheet of paper, or similar material, on the surface of which letters and pictures are or may be shown. Fixing holes 2, 2 allow the sheet to to be fixed to the magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus in certain positions suitable for recording or reproducing voices, as shown further.
Between the parallel lines X and Y, the sheet carries a magnetic recording layer 3 having a constant width L. Such a sheet can be obtained in known manner, by painting the sheet with a coating material. suitable for magnetic reproduction, this material comprising powders of magnetic substances such as y - Fe2O3 or Fe3o4 which are dispersed in a lacquer, or by printing the sheet with a printing ink, such as that a paint containing in dispersion the magnetic powders described above.
The fixing holes 2, 2 are most advantageously arranged on the center line Z of the parallel lines X and Y. When the sheet stretches or narrows depending on whether it is wet or dry, if the sheet is fixed on the sheet. The recording apparatus through the holes 2, 2 on the center line of the magnetic layer, as shown later, it occurs, for example when the paper stretches due to humidity, that the line X moves in X # and the line Y in Y ', which gives an elongation of AL, on the left of the sheet and AL2 on the right of it.
If AL, is equal to to AL ,, said elongation is symmetrical to left and to </ B> straight and it produces less inconvenience by forming recording tracks on the magnetic layer 3 by a method as described below. If the mounting holes 2, 2 are closer to line X or line Y, it results in a disadvantage, because AL, is different from AI #.
Therefore, it is advisable to produce the recording sheet in such a way that its fixing holes are arranged on the center line Z. The the distance separating these holes is equal, as will be indicated 'é later, to the distance separating the guide pins provided on the recording device on which the sheet is intended to to be fixed.
With reference to fig. 2, 3 and 4, we quickly recall the characters of the apparatus for the magnetic recording and reproduction of sounds : 4 represents a turntable (an organ supporting recording heads), which moves in the direction of arrow 6 while rotating around its central axis 0 in the direction of arrow 5. Electromagnetic heads a, b, c, used for magnetic recording or reproduction, are arranged at the circumference of the turntable at equal distances from each other.
The direct distances between these heads are equal to to the width L of the layer 3 and the linear air gap provided on each of said heads is directed towards the center 0 < / B> of the turntable. The support of each head of the fig. 3 is slightly movable vertically, but not horizontally. Fig. 3 shows a S magnetic recording sheet whose magnetic coating layer is on the underside and is to entered. in contact with the recording heads.
A pressing plate 19 is placed on the sheet S in a position such that it pushes the sheet the down. Suppose now that the turntable moves in the direction of arrow 6 while it rotates in the direction of arrow 5. If the recording is performed in supplying each recording head with a current reproducing a sound signal, magnetic recording tracks t (fig. 2) are formed. Now, if we return the head to its initial starting position and engage the playback device for reproduction, the recorded sounds will be instantly audible.
Fig. 4 shows an example of a concrete form of such a recording apparatus, comprising a housing 21, keys 22 of an electric circuit regulator, a loudspeaker 23 and a panel 24.
The guide pins 25,25 are provided at a distance 1 on the line Z on which the center of the axis of the turntable 4 moves longitudinally. These guide pins are used to fix the sheet S on the panel 24 by engaging in the holes 2, 2 of this sheet (fig. 1 </ B> and 2).
The role of the guide holes 2, 2 and of the guide pins 25, 25 is to obtain that the sheet S is always maintained in a determined position on the panel, regardless of the number of times this sheet may have been placed on and removed from the recording device. When the shape of the guide holes 2, 2 in the sheet corresponds approximately to the triangles shown in fig. 1 and 2, that of the guide pins 25, 25 is also substantially in the shape of a triangk, as shown to </ B > fig. 5, so to obtain a good fit.
In said recording apparatus, if the pressing plate 19 is made of a transparent material such as plastic or glass, the recorded sounds can be heard at the same time as the letters and letters can be observed. the images made at the face of the sheet S of in fig. 1, thus completing the magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus. In the case where a non-transparent plate is used, for example when the pressing plate 19 is made of metal, the present apparatus functions as a voice recording machine, and the recording and reproduction of sounds can be made on the sheet S.
We will now explain the reason why the magnetic 3 layer must have a constant width L, that is to say the reason why X and Y must be parallel. Suppose the magnetic 3 layer is bounded by two lines such as X and Y at in fig. 6 which are not parallel, the center 0 of the turntable is arranged as shown in this figure and the exploration track of the recording heads is indicated by < B> 26, and assume that the distance between A and B, which are the intersection points of track 26 and Xi and Y ,, is exactly equal to to L, the record track 27 thus formed is rational.
But like track 28, which is formed when the center of the turntable is disposed at 0 ', is obviously shorter than the arc regular A, B (the angle of A, 0, B is 120o when the device has three heads), the recording is partially missing. In the same way, we see that the recording track formed when the center of the turntable is located higher than 0 is longer than the regular arc and the recordings partially overlap. In this way, the width L of the magnetic layer of the recording sheet must be exactly the same as the distance between the head gaps, and the two symmetrical sides of this layer must be parallel.
However, in the case of fig. 7 in which the two edges of the magnetic layer are parallel, but slightly wavy, as shown by X2 and Y2, and in which the chords of the arcuate tracks u and u 'are equal to < / B> the width L, the recording can be done, but not of so complete that when the magnetic layer is bounded between parallel straight lines X and Y. When the ripples of. X-2 and Y2 exceed a certain value, there is a significant obstacle to recording and to reproduction.
The magnetic recording sheet S according to fig. 1 and 2 is, in general, produced in a factory by forming on a sheet of paper 1 in position a magnetic layer 3 having a width L very precise, by painting or by printing leaving margins on the paper on each side of the magnetic layer. Said margins form non-magnetic parts.
The fixing holes 2, 2 are provided on the center line Z at a specified distance 1. When using a magnetic recording apparatus using means such as said sheet, rusager sometimes wishes to carry out a magnetic deposit and recording thereon for himself on any chosen medium such as letter paper, print or newspaper at disposal. Sending such media to the factory for a magnetic coating on them by painting or printing not only takes time, but is still expensive and is a drawback.
Thus, it is very pleasant to be able to deposit a magnetic layer easily and completely on any desired paper, as indicated below, if a T of coating film is used. transferable magnetic, as shown in fig. 8 and 9, this fihn being constituted by a support 29, for example of plastic material, covered with a magnetic layer 3 < / B> itself covered with a layer of a 30. binder.
With reference to in fig. 10, said transferable magnetic coating film T is placed on a sheet of paper Y and y is fixed by pressing it to using an iron to hot iron 31 and T is tied to a sheet of paper to </ B > provided that 30 is a thermoplastic binding agent such as a vinyl acetate layer.
Then the support 29 is removed and the magnetic layer 3 is bonded to the sheet of paper l ', as shown to in fig. 11. If the width of the transferable film, according to fig. 8, is identical to L, a magnetic layer 31 is obtained having a constant width L over its entire length.
We might as well form the film. TI, as to in fig. 12, by providing a layer of a bonding agent 30 under a magnetic layer 3 and then gluing this on a sheet of paper 1; however fig. 9 is preferable because the magnetic layer 3 is very thin and is not easy to stick.
When the film T has been transferred to a sheet, it can then be easily drilled at the desired locations 32, 32 by making the fixing holes to using the hole punch < B> of fig. 13. This last includes a base 33 ' and perforating punches 34, 34, supported by arms 33, 33. The punches have a cutting end at their lower edge and form a complete perforator in combination with the holes provided directly below their cutting end. (A fig. < B> 13, the holes are not visible, because they are hidden by the sheet SI). We form the desired fixing holes in places 32,
32 and at the distance 1 from each other by placing the sheet SI on the base 33 'so that an edge Y of the magnetic layer 3 of the sheet S is in coincidence with the marks 32, 32' < / B> provided on the base 33 '; we push the punches 34, 34 down by pressing the buttons 35, 35 and we thus obtain a sheet of magnetic recording as shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
However, the sheet obtained in in this way can be easily damaged when placed and removed several times from the guide pins of the recording apparatus. , because the guide holes, 2, 2 are often deformed due to the brittleness of the paper sheet 1 and the magnetic layer 3 (the thickness is, usually from one to three hundredths of a millimeter).
In particular, in order to fix the sheet on the recording apparatus of FIG. 4, provision is made, in general, a that the guide pin 25 on the right side is fixed,
while the one on the left side is movable by a small amount in the direction of the arrow V and is subjected to the action & a spring to pull and extend said leaf. Thus, the sheet attachment hole is pulled in the direction of r, which tends to produce damage. For this reason, as shown in Figs. 14 and 15, a small part 36 of reinforcement is provided around the hole 2 of the sheet S and comprises a thin circular sheet of paper, metal or plastic larger than hole 2.
As a result, the recording sheet is substantially reinforced for practical use and will not be damaged regardless of the number of times the sheet is inserted and removed. Said reinforcing part is a #net formed between the sheet of paper 1 and the magnetic layer 3, this #net is difficult to detect by feeling with the fingers of the outside of, the sheet and has a beautiful appearance, as it is hidden both on the front and on the back of the sheet.
The eyelet can also be formed on the sheet of paper 1 as on the magnetic coating 3 without departing from the scope of the invention.
It is also possible to form the #illets on the front or back of the sheet after having formed the latter by the method described above using the perforator according to FIG. 13. However, in this method, it is difficult to glue the #illets and of plus very tedious and impractical to glue by making exactly the triangular holes made in the #illets and triangular guide holes in the sheet.
By such a method, it is not possible to obtain a magnetic sheet having a beautiful appearance like in in fig. 15, which comprises #illets provided between the sheet of paper 1 and the magnetic layer 3 and which are not liable to be torn off by handling the sheet.
A in fig. 16, small #reinforcement holes are provided in the dotted circles 37, 37 , the centers of which are provided on the Z line of the magnetic fih-n T, as shown to in fig. 8, these #illets being reinforced by a thin sheet of metal, plastic or strong paper. A the inside these dotted circles, you have to make the guide holes with using the hole punch.
Fig. 17 is a partial sectional view showing that a magnetic layer 3 and a layer of a bonding agent 30 are provided on the support 29, the bonding agent being partially reinforced by a small, part 38. On the surface of part 38, we also have formed a layer of a bonding agent.
When said magnetic film is transferred onto a sheet of paper 1 by the method shown in FIGS. 10 and 11, a magnetic recording sheet is easily and accurately obtained, having reinforcements without holes and which is well suited for practical use.
In addition, to in fig. 18, a magnetic layer 3 is painted or printed on a thin sheet of paper 30 and a piece of of </ B> reinforcement 38 to said sheet of paper 30. A magnetic recording sheet could also be made by gluing said transferable magnetic film T, the underside of which is applied to a sheet of paper with a liquid glue (eg office glue).
By this method the sheet tends to to make wrinkles, and the stretching or shrinking of the sheet is very noticeable before and after drying, so the results are not so good that with reference to in fig. 17.
A record sheet can also be produced as shown to in FIG. 19. A layer of a binder 30 is provided below the layer, magnetic 3, and below this layer a reinforcement is added < B> 38 , the underside of which also bears a layer of binder 30 '. The layers 30 and 30' are made of a thermoplastic binder such as vinyl acetate. The whole is then placed on a sheet of paper with the magnetic coating facing upwards, and the magnetic film T is transferred to the paper by pressing it with an iron.
Although in Examples 17, 18 and 19, the reinforcement -38 is placed under the magnetic coating 3, </ B> we could place this reinforcement above the magnetic coating. To give a concrete example, shown in in fig. 20, a magnetic layer 3 is formed under a support 29. Between the two parts 29 and 3, A reinforcement 38 is placed which adheres strongly to the coating and more weakly to the support 29. A layer of binder 30 is then applied under said coating.
Further, a transferable magnetic film can also be made without the support 29, shown to in fig. 21, by placing a reinforcement under the magnetic layer 3 and then applying a layer of binder under the assembly, this layer of binder itself constituting the support.
The entire transferable magnetic coating film, as shown in Figs. 17 to 21, is represented to in fig. 24, which shows in particular the illustration of FIG. 20. FIG. 25 shows a S magnetic recording sheet obtained with using the transferable magnetic coating film T, as shown in figs. 17, 18, 19 and 20.
This sheet includes a magnetic coating 3 bounded by straight parallel lines X and Y on a sheet of paper 1 and has #notes 38, 38, </ B> this sheet becoming a complete magnetic recording sheet when the fixing holes are made by means of the perforator shown to in fig. 13, in the places indicated by 32, 32.
A magnetic recording sheet S #, according to fig. 23, comprising a magnetic layer 3 ' bounded by straight parallel X and Y lines on a sheet of paper, fixing holes 2, 2 and #illets 38, 38, can be easily obtained by transferring a T film.
magnetic, as shown to in fig. 22, this T2 film comprising a magnetic layer such as 3 ' on the support 29, this layer 3' being limited to the effective recording domain and the #notes 38, 38 being fixed on the support 29. The shape of the layer 3 ' represented to </ B> fig. 22 is provided taking into account the extreme positions of the turntable 4, that is to say the initial position 0, and the final position 0.,. </ B>
