Washing machine with a washing drum mounted on one side and having a front-side filling opening. The invention relates to a washing machine with a washing drum mounted on one side, having a front-side filling opening and which is arranged in a lye container with a single front-side filling opening.
The advantage of such a washing machine is, as is well known, that the filling opening of the drum does not need to be closed with a special cover, as is the case with filling openings provided on the circumference of the jacket.
A disadvantage of the known machines of this type is their relatively low loading capacity. The invention makes it possible to reduce this disadvantage. The washing machine according to the invention is characterized according to the invention in that the washing drum is provided with at least one intermediate wall extending in the axial direction.
Through the partition or the partition walls, the drum is divided into two or more Abtei lungs, in which more items can be washed effectively than in a non-subpart th drum of the same length and diameter. Preferably, the partition has an elastic, on the inside of the loading door abutting delimiting edge, which slides on the loading door during the rotation of the drum, where it is prevented by jamming items of laundry.
In the accompanying drawing, an exemplary embodiment of the washing machine according to the inven tion is shown schematically. 1 shows a longitudinal section through the parts of the machine which are essential for understanding the invention, and FIG. 2 shows a plan view of the washing drum in the direction of arrow II in FIG.
The washing machine shown has a washing drum 1 which is cantilevered on a shaft 2 which is mounted in a bearing 3. The drum is arranged in a tub 4, which is provided with a single filling door 5 at the end. On the other hand, the jacket 6 of the tub 4 has a flange 7 which is attached to the rear wall 8 by means of screws, not shown, and with the interposition of a seal.
The drum is divided into two equal compartments by a flat intermediate wall 9, which extends in the axial direction, and is provided at the end with a filling opening 10, which is also divided by the intermediate wall. The intermediate wall 9 has a delimiting edge 11 which is formed by a profile piece 12 made of rubber or the like, which is located in a groove 13 which is provided on the main part of the intermediate wall 9. The edge 11 rests on the inner surface of a smooth pane 14 made of glass or the like, which forms the main part of the filling door 5. When the drum 1 rotates, the boundary edge 11 slides on the disk 14.
The edge of the filling opening 10 also has a delimiting edge 15 which is formed by a profile piece 16 made of rubber or the like. The profile piece 16 lies in a circular groove 17 which is provided on the front end wall 18 of the drum 1. The filling door 5 has a frame 19 in which the disc 14 is inserted and which has a groove 20 in which a possibly hollow rubber ring 21 lies, which is pressed against the edge 21 'of the door opening of the lye container 4.
The door 15 is adjustably pressed against the edge 21 'by closure devices 22, only one of which is shown in FIG. 1. As the contact pressure increases, the door 5 moves inward because of the elasticity of the rubber ring 21, so that the pressure between the glass pane 14 and the delimiting edges 11 and 15 can be regulated.
The locking device 22 has a handle 23 which can be pivoted on a screw bolt 24 which is welded to the tub 4. A stop cam 25 is provided on the door frame 19 and cooperates with a projection 26 of the handle 23.
By means of a nut 27, which is secured by a lock nut 28, the axial position of the handle 23 on the screw bolt 24 is adjustable to the outside, so that a more or less high pressure is exerted on the cam 25 when the handle 23 is pivoted. For example, three locking devices 22 and a door hinge with somewhat elastic play can be provided.
Of course, at least the jacket of the washing drum is perforated in the usual way and the drum is set in rotation in a manner not shown. In order to fill the laundry, in particular items of laundry, into the drum, it is sufficient to open the single door 5.
In the two departments of the drum, more items of laundry can be washed effectively than in an undivided drum of the same diameter and length, because as the drum rotates, the items of laundry are circulated along the inner periphery of the two drum departments, which is larger than the inner periphery of the undivided drum. Without increasing the outer dimensions of the drum, which is only possible to a limited extent in view of its one-sided storage, the loading capacity of the machine can be increased in this way.
In general, however, the drum will be made somewhat larger than the usual washing machines with a front drum mounted on one side, since with the latter an increase in the diameter results in an unfavorably large drop height for the items of laundry, which is not the case because of the division of the drum 1 is.
The intermediate wall of the drum 1 of the machine presented Darge is also particularly advantageous for the unloading of the drum. If the inter mediate wall is in its horizontal position, you can easily pull out the laundry resting on it from the upper department; then the drum is rotated 180 and the laundry in the other department is removed from the same in the same way. A lifting of the laundry, as is necessary when emptying drums that are not divided, is thus avoided.
Although the dividing wall or the dividing walls could in principle also be somewhat corrugated, smooth dividing walls are preferable because the laundry can be moved more easily on them when emptying.
