Method and device for the wet treatment of flat, flexible, photographic layers, in particular of colored papers For the wet treatment of flat, flexible layers in the photographic field, shell development has hitherto been one of the most common types of development. The bowls are moved by hand; the disadvantages arising therefrom are known and are particularly serious in the development of color papers, since the color developers are skin-irritating. In addition, their quality changes with repeated use. Furthermore, it is impossible to process large quantities of substrates simultaneously and evenly.
The tank development has the disadvantage that the developer has to be subsequently pumped out of the treatment device, which requires expensive, chemical-resistant pumps. In addition, based on the unit to be developed, relatively large amounts of developer are required for the tank development. When regenerating agents are added, color shifts in the papers to be developed cannot be avoided. This means that filtering for images once established is no longer valid if the developer has been regenerated in the meantime.
There is therefore a need for developer cans which require little developer fluid and in which the developer fluid can be fully utilized and then poured away. Developing containers are known in which the film to be developed is loosely wound up together with a metal tape and then rotated into a container which can be partially filled with developing liquid. The disadvantage of this arrangement is that the film roll first has to be inserted into the box, then the developer is added, and only then can the film roll be started so that the supplied developer already wets the lower part of the film roll when the top is still dry. This will cause stains on the film.
Another known arrangement consists of a hollow cylinder, on the inner wall of which the film clings and into which a further cylinder is pushed so that only a little developer liquid is required. However, this arrangement has the disadvantage that when the developer is poured in, the film material is also unevenly wetted and it is not possible to bathe or swivel the film evenly.
The present invention now relates to a method and a device for the wet treatment of flat, flexible, photographic layer supports, in particular of color papers. The method is characterized in that the substrate to be treated is placed in a tube that can be closed light-tight at both ends and, with the side facing away from the layer, brought into contact with the inside of the tube, whereupon the tube lies in a partially closed state. is set in rotating motion and then the treatment liquid is added.
The device for carrying out this method is characterized in that it has at least one rotatable tube intended for receiving the layer support, closable at both ends by light-tight closures, and means for uniform rotation of the tube.
The method has the advantage that a relatively small amount of developer can be fully utilized and, in addition, even, error-free processing of even large areas of substrate is possible.

The device has the advantage of simplicity compared to the known, mostly complicated devices of this type. It can consist of a few parts that are easy to manufacture.
The method according to the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing when used for developing color papers.
1 shows a perspective illustration of an embodiment of the tube with the closures open.
2 shows an embodiment of the device according to the invention in a perspective view.
Fig. 3 shows a perspective view of a further embodiment of the tube.
4 shows a front view of a further exemplary embodiment of the device according to the invention. The two embodiments shown in the drawing FIGS. 2 and 4 of the device have one or more tubes in the embodiment according to FIG. The tube 1 shown here, the z. B. may consist of opaque plastic, is intended for example to accommodate an exposed colored paper sheet 2, which has been rolled so inserted into the interior of the tube 1 that the layer side comes to lie on the inside. The inner circumference of the tube 1 must be at least a few millimeters larger than the circumference of the sheet 2 rolled into a cylinder, so that the axially directed edges of the sheet 2 cannot overlap or touch one another.
The paper sheet 2 hugs the inside of the tube 1 according to its tendency to wind up.
As from Eig. 1, the tube 1 is assigned a pin lock at both ends. This consists of a larger pin 4, which has a central bore 5, and a smaller pin 6, which is used to close the bore 5. In you, the tube 2 containing the sheet 2, the light-tight cones 4 are now inserted at both ends. One end is completely closed by inserting the central pin 6, whereupon the lying tube is set in rotating motion and the predetermined amount of developer solution is introduced through the opening 5 of the other pin 4. This opening can then also be completely closed by inserting the corresponding pin 6.
For filling in the developer solution, the tube 1, as shown in the device according to FIG. 2, can be provided with an inlet which consists of a funnel 8 having a bent drainage tube 7. The horizontally lying end ax of the tube 7 is passed through the mentioned opening 5 in a light-tight manner and is secured against rotation about its axis coinciding with the tube axis in a manner not shown.
In the embodiment according to Filg. 2, the device has a frame in which two parallel, adjacent rollers 9 are rotatably mounted about their axis. The distance between the two rollers 9 from one another is such that the tube 1 can be placed on the latter in a position parallel to the rollers 9. The rollers 9 therefore form a rotary bearing for the tube, which is set in uniform rotation by hand or by any means with a fixed inlet 7, 8, whereby the developer solution filled into the tube 1 with the exposed layer at all points successively and evenly in Touch comes. Development can take place with the bright light switched on. After the development has ended and the bright light has been switched off, the shutters 4 are opened.
The exhausted developer is poured off and the tube 1 is placed in a water bath. This is followed by the other bathrooms, e.g. B. bleach-fix bath, using the same method.
If you want to work without the inlet 7, 8, the relevant opening 5 is closed by the pin 6.
Instead of a single sheet 2, several correspondingly smaller exposed colored paper sheets can also be inserted into the tube or into a correspondingly larger tube. In order to prevent the individual sheets from touching one another, according to the embodiment of the tube according to FIG. 3, stops for the edges of the sheets are provided on the inside of the same. According to FIG. 3, these stops are formed by transverse pins 3 which are inserted into the tube between the sheet edges of adjacent sheets and prevent the sheets from being displaced in opposite directions. Of course, nothing stands in the way of creating the notices by other means, e.g.
B. by projecting approaches on the inner string of the tube.
The device according to FIG. 4 differs essentially from that according to FIG. 2 only in that a plurality of rollers 9 are rotatably mounted in a frame, one of which can be driven by an electric motor 10 by means of a pinion drive 11 . The remaining rollers 9 are automatically frictionally coupled to one another around the circumference via the tubes 1 placed on them.
This type of drive is particularly advantageous because of the coupling of the tubes. with the drive device by virtue of the dead weight of the tubes, simply placing it on the rollers takes place automatically and the coupling is released by simply lifting the tubes.
