Fig.21 zeigt Mittel zum kontinuierlichen Her stellen der Polster.
Upholstery, process for its production and means for carrying out the process The present invention allows the exploitation of the flexibility and the heat-insulating and sound-absorbing properties of such rubber-elastic plastics, which are generally known as rubber-elastic foams because of the pores distributed over the entire material. Such material is e.g. B. foam polyurethane, which is sold under the name Moltoprens> (registered trademark) ver.
Such a material can be produced in a wide variety of structures, from highly porous, highly resilient to very soft, low-porosity, or in the form of platelets, flakes, grains, bits and pieces, which can be used as cushioning.
It is already known to use a sheet of rubber-elastic foam, for example as a mattress, but its properties are not fully exploited because the material stretches, so to speak, evades under the load. Correspondingly, in the case of a round seat cushion, the material deviates radially beyond the cushion thickness, so that thicker material is required for the purpose of sufficient bedding for the weight than in the case where there is no such radial thrust. Such a material shift will of course not occur if the pressure surface corresponds to that of the material and the material is held around its outer edge, which is impractical in the case of mattresses, pillows and most forms of upholstery.
The invention makes it possible to avoid the disadvantages listed above.
The invention relates to an at least partially made of rubber-elastic foam cushion and is characterized by means which cause that in the unloaded cushion the material which is adjacent to the surface that is intended to take a load, under a direction transverse to the Rich The load to be absorbed is directed tensile stress, while the material which is not adjacent to the surface mentioned is under a compressive stress directed transversely to the direction of the load to be absorbed.
The invention also relates to a method for producing such cushions; which is characterized in that plate-shaped starting material is pressed together at least in its edge zone, and in that the pressed areas are fixed in their pressed position at least at the edge.
Finally, the invention also relates to a device for carrying out said method. This is characterized by a press with two pressing surfaces that can move relative to one another.
The drawing shows some embodiments of the invention, which are ben described in more detail below.
1 to 3 show, in vertical section, a first embodiment of cushions according to the invention, FIG. 1 a showing a horizontal section through FIG.
4 to 10 show vertical sections through further embodiments.
Figures 11 to 13 show means for making the pads.
14 to 20 and 22 show further Ausfüh approximate forms of cushions.
Fig.21 shows means for continuously Her put the cushion.
The simplest embodiment, a round Kis sen for a chair seat, is, as shown in Fig. 1 and la, using a single layer of rubber-elastic foam 1 of, for example, 7 l ', up to 10 cm in thickness so that the material on a flat Table 2 is placed and is pressed together by means of a gauge 3 placed on it and corresponding approximately to the size of the intended pillow; if the material has been compressed to a thickness of 0.6 cm, for example, it is at the edge of the gauge by means of a heated mold, for.
B. a roll, or other known method, such that all pores are eliminated along this route, and when the gauge is lifted, the material returns to approximately its original thickness, but remains compressed on the circumference of the cushion, as in FIG. 2 shown in section. The excess material outside the weld seam is then removed (see FIG. 3).
It is clear that when it returns to its original thickness, the material of the outer surface of the pillow comes under tensile stress, while the material of the central plane of the pillow is pressed, so that when a load is placed on the pillow, the radial displacement of material under the load is prevented .
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 4 for a similar cushion, three layers of plate-like material are placed on top of one another before they are pressed together and welded, the materials of the layer layers being selected in such a way that the one for the outer layers 4 of the resulting tensile stress resistance opposed, while the material of the middle layer 5 opposes the stress resistance to pressure. The materials suitable for this case can also be used for other purposes. So z.
B., as shown in Fig. 5, the outer layers 4 have a narrower structure with suitable wear and slip preventing surface, while the inner layer 6 of loose granules, platelets, pieces of chen, flakes or the like or from one of platelets or waste material formed layer be, the particles of which have been glued, for example, by adhesive or by applying moderate heat that is not high enough to melt the material.
In a further, shown in Fig. 6 from the guide form for this simple pillow shape, the outer layers 4 can be made of rubber-elastic foam, while the inner layer 7 consists of rubberized hair or other suitable, known rubber-elastic cushioning materials, which are the same when the outer layers are stretched when pressed together withstand compressive forces occurring in the cushion.
Of course, in the case of the last-mentioned cushion design, if the middle layer is not particularly resilient, the cushion cannot be compressed to the same extent as in the case of the use of foam, and it may be necessary to apply stretching forces in the direction of the arrows while compressing the cushion (Fig. 6) to be used for the outer layers in order to ensure that adequate expansion forces remain in the outer layers after the welding is finished.
Where a highly porous plastic insert is required for the middle layer, such as sitting in a cinema (Fig. 7), this material can be provided with a number of perforations extending over the inner layer 8, which are closed at their ends, be it through the outer layers or through the seat design so that closed voids are formed in the seat cushion.
If the task is to oppose considerable resistance to a load, a pillow or a mattress (as shown in Fig. 8 Darge) can be made of a three or more layer, in which the material of each of the layers is gradually over the Object has increasing (or decreasing) resilience. Such a structure has a considerable suspension under light load, while the resilience decreases with increasing load.
The layers are preferably connected to one another by welding, since this is quick and easy. You have to use a thermoplastic material for this. But you can also, as shown in Fig. 9 is shown, the layers together along the circumference of the pillow by sewing or by means of clips, brackets or other means.
The described simple embodiment of the pillow thus has a single layer of rubber-elastic foam, in which during the manufacture of the pillow in or near the upper surface tensile forces are generated, in the middle compressive forces, the surfaces by welding, sewing or other attachment to the edge are attached to each other, for the purpose of generating said forces, which remain in the cushion until a load is placed on it. The material properties of the cushion can change across the cross-section, for example in such a way that the material located close to the surfaces is selected with regard to the resistance to be opposed to the tensile stress, while the intermediate material is chosen so that it opposes the pressure.
It is clear that the extent and the distribution of the forces across the pillow depend on the pillow diameter and its thickness. If the cushion is therefore thin compared to its diameter, the forces in the middle will only be relatively small and you can then, as shown in FIG. 10, weld the material through the cushion in the middle of a round cushion, for example, whereby another fixed point 9 is generated from which the tensile and compressive forces can proceed. This fixed point can be created by the above-mentioned method, namely by pressing the material together between parallel plates and welding through a hole 10 in the center of the circular, upper plate 11.
As shown in FIG. 11, the pressing plate can have heating electrodes 12 in the form of raised plates in order to carry out the welding on the table top 2 lying below or on electrodes 12 which are provided symmetrically on another plate 13 lying below, such as is shown in FIG.
According to FIG. 13, a pattern can also be embossed on the cushion surface with the aid of structures on the press plate or on a counterplate.
If a mattress is required whose surface dimensions are considerably larger than its thickness, as shown in Fig. 14, several fixed points 9 are provided distributed over the surfaces to generate adequate tension forces in the mattress and counter the tendency know that the material gives way when the load is applied. These fixed points can be arranged from each other at regular or irregular intervals and a decorative pattern on the mattress bil the.
According to a further embodiment, in addition to the straight or curved weld seam on the edge of the object, straight or curved holding lines can also be provided within the outer surfaces, either in addition to the holding points or in their place. You can z. B. produce straight ribs across or along the mattress by quilted blanket type or other network pattern, as shown in FIG.
As stated above, the cushion can be made from a single, sheet-like layer or from three sheet-like layers, or from any number of layers, if the cushion is used free of any fixed support that is permanently or temporarily assigned to it, that is, when the forces within the material are symmetrically distributed around a central plane. However, if the pad is attached to a rigid support, e.g. B. on a chair back or a seat, an even number of layers can be provided, for example two.
The outer layer receives the tensile stress and the inner layer receives the compression, whereby the padding is prevented from rolling up through direct or indirect fastening to the base.
As can be seen from FIG. 16, the object can also be made from a single thin layer of material which is symmetrically stressed after welding, so that tensile stresses occur in and near the upper surfaces and compressive stresses in between. This layer can then be fastened with its edge to a stiff base 14, such as plywood, which increases the tensile forces in the outer surface and shifts the compressive stresses from the center into the outer surface adjacent to the base, as indicated by the arrows in Fig .16 is indicated. Such a pad is thus un symmetrical with respect to the central plane.
In order to have enough material for attachment to a base, according to the above or other embodiments, the weld can be kept wider and thus form a wreath around the object, or two separate adjacent welds can be carried out for the same purpose as shown in FIG.
If you consider that when welding the edges of the layers with simultaneous application of pressure by means of two parallel plates, there are no tensile and compressive stresses, it becomes clear that the tensile and compressive stresses that arise afterwards are canceled when a load covering almost the entire cushion is applied are. In use, only the cushioning force of the cushion perpendicular to the outer surfaces bears the load, with lateral displacement of the material being excluded.
If it is inexpedient to use a large, e.g. B. to create a mattress-receiving press, a layer can be attached at its edges to means which, as indicated in Fig. 18 by the arrows, hold in their natural plane without a compression between parallel plates takes place. The welding can then be effected by means of a smaller, heated hand roller who is guided around the contours of patterns, with independent fixed points or fixed lines for connecting the top and bottom, where required, are introduced by hand at the same time or later. The method can thus not only be carried out by pressing the layers between parallel plates.
After all, this method has proven to be the most effective because it allows the work to be done much faster.
If corrugations, waves or other shapes are to be applied to the end product, the surfaces between which the layers or the individual layer is to be pressed together can be corrugated or otherwise shaped; accordingly, the pressing method during the welding process is not limited to parallel plates. If, for example, a heat or sound insulating or damping pad is desired as the jacket of a hemisphere, the pressing surfaces can have such a suitable shape that the end product, as shown in FIG. 19, has the desired curvature.
These cushions are preferably used for upholstery covering large areas, such as airplane seats, divans, etc., with any arched or cylindrical parts (FIG. 20) also being formed when the seat and backrest surfaces that carry the main load are formed. You can either attach the whole thing to a flat base along the welding seam lines or you can glue the entire back onto the base.
The pads can be used for thermal insulation or for sound insulation or soundproofing on walls or ceilings. As shown in FIG. 21, they can be produced continuously by applying pressure to one or more rollers 17 and 18 on an individual layer or on several layers, the welding by means of electrodes 12 being carried out at the same time in a manner similar to that described above. Such a material is expediently attached to the base along the weld seams.
As shown in Fig. 22, you can put a decorative or wear-resistant fabric covering 15 during Formvor transition on the surface of a single or a multiple layer, which, if it has thermoplastic properties, ends with the mattress, pillow or cushion united along the welds 16 and part of the end product is; it is kept taut between the welding points by the flexibility of the layer or layers when they are relieved of pressure after their compression.
If the cushions are to support human bodies, the material should preferably have pores connected to one another so that the material can breathe and no condensation forms. However, if the upholstery is used for other purposes, a material in which the pores are not connected to one another can be perfectly used.
Small cushions or hand cushions can be used as cleaning cushions for cars or the like. A hose is then inserted into a recess in the material and welded to it so firmly that the water emerging from the hose flows out through the pores of the material to the surface of the cleaning pad. Likewise, a small loudspeaker can be placed in a cushion before it is welded. Such a pillow is widely used in hospitals.
Furthermore, substances such. B. a stretchable network in all directions, are included to counteract the stretching of the cushion, especially where the object is only attached to the edge and not provided with a continuous pad.
