A device for aerating pressurized flowing water The present invention relates to a device for aerating pressurized flowing water, producing a cohesive aerated water jet when connected to a drain line. pressurized water.
According to the invention, such a device is characterized in that it comprises two parts having at least one part in the form of a disc or of a bowl, arranged one above the other during use, an inlet d 'air below the lower part and at least one screen below the air inlet, and in that the upper part has at least one perforation and the lower part has several perforations, the major part of the perforations of the lower part not being opposite a perforation provided in the upper part.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, several embodiments of the object of the invention. In this drawing Fig. 1 is a sectional view relating to the first embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view relating to the second embodiment.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view relating to the third embodiment.
Fig. 4 is a sectional view relating to another embodiment in which the aerator is placed in the outlet opening of the valve.
Figs. 5 to 8 are sectional views of other embodiments.
Each of these embodiments, except that shown in FIG. 4, comprises a housing 8 threaded at its upper part to allow screwing to the valve.
In the housing of the embodiment of FIG. 1, is housed an assembly (unit) of synthetic material, such as for example hard rubber or polyethylene comprising a central rod 19 provided with a handle 18 and a disc 17 under which is provided a perforated disc 6 resting on a beat 15.
The rod 19 ends with a narrower part 16 which is followed by a head 20.
Air inlets 14 exist under the disc 6. Near the lower end of the housing 8 is placed a sieve 10 which rests on a flap 101 and which is held in place by a ring 9 and on this rest two sieves. 7 provided with a central opening crossed by the narrower part 16 of the rod 19. These screens are held together by a frame 11.
In order to avoid the need to use washers or gaskets in the aerator, the upstream disc 17 is provided with a bulging bead 21 on its periphery. This bead fulfills two functions :
firstly, as the synthetic material is soft enough for the peripheral bead 21 to act as a washer or sealant, 'd maintains the connection between the aerator tank 8 and the valve under desired waterproof conditions; secondly, the bead 21 prevents the lower end of the valve from covering the holes 12.
When the holes 12 are not located near the periphery, the bulge 21 on the upstream side is not necessary.
It has been found with respect to the aerators that it is desirable to have two upstream discs per drilled and therefore the disc 17 has been provided with holes 12 and another adjacent disc 6 with holes 13. It will be noted that that the improvement over previous aerators is that the holes 12 are intentionally offset from the holes 13 of the disc 6 to prevent them from coinciding with each other.
The disc 6 is embossed or arched and has two circular rows of holes. As a result of the camber of the disc 6, the holes 13 tend to reduce the divergence of the streams of water which emerge from them and to direct them more exactly on the mixing screen 7.
The disc 6 is arranged so as to slide freely on the rod 19 and can therefore be placed thereon during the assembly of the aerator and before the placement of the screen 7 on the rod 16.
In the event that a housewife wishes to remove the ventilator with a view to cleaning it, it suffices for her to unscrew the housing 8 from the faucet and lift the internal parts to remove them from the housing using the handle 18. The disc 6 can then slide freely on the rod 19 and can be moved away from the disc 17 by a sufficient distance to allow the removal of any dirt accumulated between the discs 6 and 17.
The disc 6 can then be lifted against the bulge 21 to provide a widened space between the disc 6 and the screen 7, which makes it possible to clean the latter. With the internal parts removed, water can be forced through the screen 10 for cleaning. If you wish to reassemble the aerator, it suffices to hold the assembly by the handle 18 and let it fall into the box until the disc 6 rests on the flap 15.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, the disc 17 provided at the bottom with a tubular extension 171 is crossed by a rigid rod 191 having a uniform thickness and terminating .par a head 25.
This embodiment does not have a clamping ring 9. It is provided with three sieves designated respectively: the upper sieve by 22, the middle sieve and the lower sieve by 7. They are mounted on the lower part 161 of the rod. 191 and rests on a beat 24. Only the median and upper sieve can be mounted in a frame 23 or else one can use sieves curved on their edges like the sieve 7 of FIG. 3. These screens are less expensive.
The rod 191 is mounted with hard friction in the disc 17 so that the screens 7 can be slid over the part 161 of the rod when the latter is pushed downwards. This makes it easier to clean the screens.
The apparatus shown in FIG. 3 is in its essence the same as those of FIGS. 1 and 2 with the difference that the disc 6 constitutes the bottom of an inverted bowl 61 resting on a clamping ring 9.
The rod 19 of the part 17-19 carries at its lower end a piece of rigid rod 16 provided with a head 20 introduced with hard friction into the rod 19. This head 20 clamps against the rigid rod 19 a sieve 7 of which the outer edge is curved inward at 26 to prevent the formation of sharp edges. Air inlet holes 14 acting as air inlets 14 of FIGS. 1 and 2 are planned.
The apparatus of FIG. 4 is arranged to be mounted inside the tap or else to be fitted into a box which is screwed onto the tap. The latter must have a shoulder 30 against which the upstream disc 17 and an internal thread rests. The rod 19 in this case has swollen ends 28 and 20 to prevent the various parts from leaving the rod. The disc 17 forms a tight seal on the rod 19, but can nevertheless slide along the latter. The friction is sufficient so that the dis that does not move along the rod despite the pressure of the water and the action of gravity.
The inverted bowl-shaped piece 6 can be brought into any desired position for cleaning and brought back when it is desired to mount the aerator. The lower screens 7 have a common frame 9 and are suitably spaced from each other by any known device. The complete aerator is then slid inside the exhaust port of the tap until the disc 17 bears against the flap 30, after which an external threaded piece 29 is screwed onto the thread. formed at the lower outlet end of the valve.
The apparatus of FIG. 4 for cleaning by removing part 29 and sliding the different parts 17, 6 and 7 to separate them from each other as far as possible along the rod 19, and then cleaning them individually. After having cleaned them, they can be slid back to bring them back to the positions shown in the drawings and the device can be reassembled in the valve. The sieve (s) to be used in the type of construction shown in fig. 4 can all be fixed to the rod 19 or some of them can be carried by the rod 19 and others by the part 29.
According to a variant, all the screens can be carried by the part 29 which can be provided with housings in which the screens are mounted.
In fig. 5, the rod 19 of synthetic material has a handle 18 integrally formed with it as the integral disc 17, which has the shape of an inverted bowl. The latter is provided with perforations 12 near the center of the apparatus. The disc 6 can slide on the rod 19 and is provided with circular rows of perforations 13. The lower end of the rod 19 is provided with a bulge 4 which is formed after the disc 6 has been put in place. view to maintain it as part of the whole. Clamping rings 9 hold sieves 10 and 7 in place.
The central hole of the screen 7 is wider than the bulge 4 of the rod 19 to allow the removal of the soils which may accumulate between the two screens. The boitie.r is made in two parts, the upper part 8a being threaded to be able to be screwed to the tap. The upper part 8a extends under the air inlet holes 14 and the lower part 8b is screwed therein. The sieves 7 and 10 as well as the clamping rings 9 are therefore clamped between the lower edge of the upper part 8a and the flange 24 of the part 8b.
The disc 6 can be forcibly adjusted in the upper part 8a or can be free. The spacing between the two discs, which is preferably one or two millimeters, is provided by the edges 5 of the disc 17. FIG. 5 also indicates that the rod 19 may be long enough to reach the sieve 10 and hold it in place when this or these sieve (s) are not permanently held in place by means of a rod 9 which can then be removed. .
Although only one row of holes has been shown in the upstream disc, it is evident that several rows of holes can be provided in combination with one or more rows of holes in the upstream disc. downstream.
The device according to FIG. 6 comprises a central rod 18 carrying a disc 17 which is integral with it. This has a swollen outer part 5 which fulfills two functions. First, as the element is made of a soft artificial material, the enlarged part 5 acts as a washer or a gasket; secondly, it prevents the valve from covering the holes 12.
The disc 17 is provided with a circular row of holes 12. Below the disc 17 is a shoulder against which the lower disc or the membrane 6 rests when the aerator is mounted. The membrane 6 can slide along the upright 27 and is provided with a .series of holes 13. Between the two rows of holes 13 of the membrane 6, the latter is pushed back or bent so as to reduce the divergence of the threads d water and direct them more precisely on the sieve 7.
The housing 8 has an air inlet 14 and immediately above this hole a flap 15 on which the membrane 6 rests. An additional screen 10 placed near the lower end of the housing 8 is held in place by a ring 11. The screen 7 is provided with a frame 9 on its periphery. It is crossed by a thinned part of the rod 19 extending by a swollen part 4.
The holes 12 do not coincide with the holes 13. This in itself considerably improves the operation of the aerator.
Fig. 7 shows a central rod 18 having at its lower end a narrow or thin part 27 on which the membrane 6 can slide. A 6 eyelet is located immediately below the say 17 to prevent the membrane 6 from touching the latter.
The outer edge of the disc 17 has a greater thickness, as in the case of FIG. 1. Ix disc 17 is provided with a single row of holes which do not coincide with the holes 13 of the diaphragm 6. The latter is pushed back between the second and the third row of holes which are formed therein, with a view to direct the water more exactly on the .sieve 7. The latter is carried by a flap at the lower end of the housing and fixed by a clamping ring 11. The membrane 6 rests on the flap 15 which is located immediately at- above the air inlet holes 14.
In this case, the total cross section of all holes 12 of disc 17 is smaller than the total cross section of all holes 13 of membrane 6. Furthermore, none of the holes of membrane 6 coincide with the holes. holes 12 in disc 17. Rod 27 has an enlarged lower end to prevent diaphragm 6 from coming loose or being removed when handle 18 is pressed to remove parts 6 and 17 from the housing.
In fig. 8, the upstream disc 17 has a bulge 5 near its periphery to act as a washer or seal when the housing 8 is adapted to a valve; it is made of a suitable soft plastic, such as polyethylene, so that it can effectively act as a washer or gasket.
It is provided with a central orifice 12 which, if it is desired to combine the two characteristics mentioned above, may have a cross section smaller than the sum of the cross sections of the three rows of holes 13, of the lower disc 6. It will be noted that the hole 12 does not coincide with any of the holes 13, so that the water passing through the hole 12 hits a massive central part of the disc 6.
When the water has passed through the disc 6 in the form of multiple streams, it hits the aerating screen 7 which is held in place against the batting of the lower part of the housing 8 by the clamping ring 11.
As in the case of Figs. 6 and 7, the advantage offered by this aerator over those used previously is that the hole 12 has a cross section smaller than that of the holes 13, which increases the quality of the current delivered. Another advantage is that the water entering through the hole 12 hits the solid part of the disc 6.
Yet another advantage lies in the reduction in the cost of manufacture as a result of the use of a soft material for the construction of the disc 17 which makes the use of washers unnecessary. Polyethylene has been found to be suitable for this purpose.
It has also been found that, since the two or three rows of holes in the lower disc are fed by a single row of holes or a single hole in the upstream disc, as shown in FIGS. 6, 7 and 8 the desired streams of water, parallel or slightly diverging, are obtained if the downstream disc is slightly pushed back or arched.
Excessive pushing or bending forces the two concentric currents coming out of the holes placed on the same radius to meet and pulverize, which necessitates the use of a lower resistance to bring together the jets of water in a coherent current. broken or divided water.
