Fig. 5 is a detail.
The holding device has a straight Füh tion 1 with a beveled at an angle of 450 th longitudinal side 2, on which guide 1 on one side, a curved plate 3 made of hard metal from replaceable and at an acute angle a to the longitudinal axis of the guide 1 is attached . In the plate 3 an opening 4 is arranged for inserting the tip 6 of the twist drill 12 to be ground, into which a stop cam 5 protrudes which is used to set the cutting edge 5a of a twist drill to be ground in the correct position for grinding.
On the guide 1 is guided through inclined slots 7, a straight guide 8 with a stop bar 9 is arranged displaceably bar, to which bar and bevel 2 the twist drill to be ground is applied so that it is with the tip in the opening 4 and the cutting edge 5a against the stop cam 5 is on. On the stop bar 9, a stop 10 with a retaining screw 11 is axially adjustable, with which the drill 12 to be ground can be supported at the end of the shaft. A spring 13, which can be clamped by a nut 14, holds the drill in this position. The drill is sharpened after placing it in the holding device and clamping the drill in the holder in this position.
The holder with the drill is now placed with the front end on the support of the grinding machine and the drill tip is pressed against the grinding wheel, while at the same time alternating the rotation around the drill axis. If one of the relief surfaces is ground in this position after the curvature of the plate 3, the drill is rotated in the device by 180 about its longitudinal axis, whereby the second relief surface comes into the grinding position and is ground again after the curvature of the plate 3 , after which the drill is ready to use.
In the guide 8 three already mentioned inclined slots 7 are made at an angle, B of 450 to the longitudinal direction and are guided on pins 15, 15 'of the guide 1. A clamping screw 16 made light possible to hold the setting of the two guides anein other. The pin 15 protrudes over the outside of the guide 8, and also on the outside of the guide 8 is a fixed stop 17 angeord net, which is used to adjust the guide 8 relative to the guide 1, in which the spiral drill to be ground between the parts 15, 17 is inserted and then the guides clamped to each other who the.
The distance a between the stop pin 15 and stop 17 fixed on the guide 1 is equal to the distance b between a wall 20 of the opening 4 and the side 21 of the stop bar 9 facing this wall in any setting position of the guides 1, 8, so that after the aforementioned setting, the guides are set to each other so that the drill can be applied to parts 2, 9 in the manner mentioned and held in the device during grinding, the drill being adjusted by means of stop 10 and screw 11 so that it protrudes slightly over the curved surface 3.
