<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Stove tile The invention relates to a stove tile which in the usual way has a so-called front sheet glazed on the front side, which denotes the front plate-shaped component of the tile. In the known tiles, a so-called trunk or butt is attached to the back of this front sheet, that is to say. a short, usually clwidratiseh protrusion, the transverse line of which is smaller than the leaf surface.
When the tiles fit together for the production of the oven wall, the tiles stand on the narrow front edge of the sheet while the trunk is squat. tim to align the tiles nicely. This work requires. Skill, a long training in the profession of a tile layer and a lot of time.
For this reason, there have been various attempts to insert the tiles into a metal frame as Aus Z, 1 ;, a solution that is not satisfactory in terms of price or aesthetics.
The invention overcomes these disadvantages in that the stove tile has a rear sheet, parallel to the front sheet, of the same size, which is connected to the front sheet by webs.
This enables the construction of a self-supporting furnace wall in a simple manner, in that the tiles are now simply placed in layers ati-one another, their alignment not presenting any difficulties and both the outer and inner surface of the tile wall can be kept perfectly clean and smooth.
The cavities located between the two sheets and the webs are preferably filled with concrete or the like when the wall is built, whereby the tiles are connected to one another, as is explained in more detail in Swiss Patent No. 334951 of the same date.
In the accompanying drawing, an embodiment of the tile according to the invention is shown. They show: FIG. 1 a cross section of the tile. the line I-I of FIG. 2, FIG. 2 shows a longitudinal section of the tile along the line II-II of FIG. 1.
The front sheet 1 of the stove tile shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, which consists for example of the usual fireclay clay, is glazed on the front surface 2 in the usual way. Parallel to this front sheet 1 is a rear sheet 3, the main area -1 of which is the same size as that (2) of sheet 1. In the present case, both sheets also have the same thickness.
The two sheets 1 and 3 are connected to one another by the mutually parallel webs 5

connected and are preferably at a distance of 2-4 cm from each other. The two leaves are rectangular, especially square. The webs 5 run parallel to the two sides of the rectangle 6 and do not extend at their two ends (in a variant only at one of these ends) to the corresponding perpendicular sides of the rectangle 7 Insertion of brackets, armature wires and the like can be used, as is explained in more detail in Swiss Patent No. 334951.
The two outermost webs 5 run somewhat within the rectangular sides 6 parallel to them, which is important for the attachment of tiles that abut with these sides by filling the cavities with a binding agent.
The edges of the leaves are preferably ground exactly at right angles to the main surface.
Since with air heating stoves the inner heating surface is also free. can. if particular emphasis is placed on cleanliness, the inner surface 4 can also be glazed or painted.
The stove tile described has the advantages mentioned at the outset over the stove tiles that have been customary up to now. As a material for the tile, in addition to your usual fireclay clay, any other materials suitable for derr furnace construction, u. a. Concrete or iron sheet metal can be used to meet any special conditions.
