Stylograph The present invention relates to a stylograph comprising an envelope enclosing several cartridges, each provided with a writing tip capable of occupying a retracted position inside the envelope and a writing position determined by a writing device. locking and for which this point emerges from an orifice made in one of the ends of the casing, an actuator, emerging from the rear end of the casing and allowing to bring, against the action of a res sort, any one of said writing tips in the writing position, and a selection device making it possible to choose at will the writing tip to be put into service.
In stylographs of this type currently on the market, the selection device is generally constituted by a barrel movable angularly and which carries an eccentric pusher. This pusher moves step by step opposite heads carried by rods sliding in guides arranged in a guide member integral with the envelope. Each rod, subjected to the action of a return spring, tending to keep it in the rest position, carries a cartridge provided with a writing tip.
When the user wishes to put a point of determined color in the writing position, it is therefore obligatory to move the barrel angularly by actuation, in rotation, of the actuator, until a marker of the desired color appears in a window.
However, it seems, according to the latest findings, that the operations necessary for the writing position of a point of specific color are too numerous and above all too diverse, so that the manufacturers of this type of pen Multi-color graphs encounter great difficulties in the dissemination of these stylographs, despite their obvious advantages.
The stylograph, object of the invention, tends to remedy this drawback by the fact that it comprises a selection device having a selection drum carrying an eccentric plunger capable of cooperating with each of the cartridges, the angular displacements of the drum for the establishment of the pusher being controlled by axial displacements of the actuating member emerging from the rear end of the casing.
The appended drawing illustrates, schematically and by way of example, one embodiment of the stylograph according to the invention. Fig. 1 is an axial sectional view thereof, a writing tip being in the writing position.
Fig. 2 is a view in partial axial section taken along line II - II of FIG. 1. Figs. 3 to 6 are views on a larger scale of the selection drum and of its control members, in different positions, illustrating the operation of the selection device. According to the appended drawing, the stylograph comprises an envelope of generally cylindrical shape, formed of an anterior part 1 and a posterior part 2. The anterior end 3 of this envelope is tapered and provided with an orifice 4, while that its rear end 5 is slightly conical and has an orifice 6.
In the rear part 2 of the envelope is forced out a frame 7, carrying a guide plate 8, provided with guides 9, in each of which slides a carrier member constituted by a rod 10, subjected to the action of a return spring 11. In the example shown, the plate 8 carries four guides 9 and each rod 10 carries a cartridge 12, provided, at its front end, with a tip for writing 13. The frame 7 has a bore 14, in which slides and rotates a selection drum 15, provided with an eccentric pusher 18.
This drum is integral with an actuating member 19, consisting of a pusher coaxial with the axis of the casing 1, 2 and which carries, at its rear end, a head 20, emerging from the casing by the orifice 6 and, at its front end, a guide hole 16, in which slides a central guide 17, fixed in the plate 8. This rotary head 20 is retained bare on the end of the pusher 19 by a screw 21 and a ball stop 22 allows angular movements between the pusher 19 and this head 20. A plug 23 closes the rear end of the head 20.
A locking device is provided to keep the pusher 19 in the working position, that is to say writing (position shown in fig. 1), against the action of a return spring. 24 bearing on the plate 8 by means of a ball stop 25. This locking device comprises a needle 26 sliding in a radial housing 27 of the pusher 19 and subjected to the action of a spring 28 tending to the make emerge from its housing 27. In the locking position (fit. 1), this needle is engaged under a circular ridge 29 of a sleeve 30, rigidly fixed on a cap 31, coaxially with the axis of the envelope.
The radial movement of the needle 26, under the action of its spring 28, is limited by the circular wall 32 of a groove 33 formed in a ring 34 running freely along the pusher 19 between two end positions, determined, of on the one hand, by a frustoconical surface 35 forming the bottom of the groove 33 and coming to rest on a frustoconical wall 36 forming the front end of the sleeve 30 and, on the other hand, by the front face 37 of this ring 34 coming to rest on the front face 38 of the frame 7.
The stylograph shown further comprises a device for automatic release of the locking device which comprises, on the one hand, the frustoconical annular surface 35, intended to push the needle 26 inside its housing 27, against the action of the spring. 28 and, on the other hand, the sleeve 30, fixed in the cap 31.
The selection device is constituted by the drum 15 provided with two sets of four cams formed by inclined surfaces 39 and 40. The cams 40 cooperate with a control finger 41, integral with the frame 7, while the cams 39 cooperate with a control finger 42, movable along a slot 43, formed in the frame 7 and in the rear part 2 of the envelope. The control finger 42 carries an actuator 44, making it possible to move it from an active position (fig. 4), determined by the right end 45 of the slot 43, into an inactive position determined by the other end 46 of the light 43.
Each cam 39 and 40 extends approximately one-eighth of the periphery of the drum 15 and, moreover, these cams 39 and 40 are angularly offset with respect to each other by an eighth of a turn.
The operation of the stylograph described is as follows When the pusher 19 is in its rest position (fig. 2), all the cartridges 12, provided with their writing tip 13, are retracted entirely inside the envelope. 1, 2 and maintained in this position, determined by a stop face 53 cooperating with the underside of the plate 8, by the action of their return spring 11.
By exerting a thrust f on the head 20, the user causes the axial displacement of the pusher 19, of the drum 15 and of the eccentric pusher 18. The latter acts, during its displacement, on the head 47 of one of the rods. 10 and therefore actuates one of the cartridges 12 against the action of its return spring, until it is in its writing position (FIG. 1). This writing position is determined by the needle 26 which engages under the edge 29 of the sleeve 30, which then opposes a backward movement of the pusher 19 and therefore maintains one of the points for write 13 in writing position, against the action of return springs 11 and 24.
To allow the engagement of the needle 26 under the edge 29, it is necessary to exert the thrust f on the head 20, keeping the stylograph with its tapered end directed downwards, so that the ring 34 slides, under the action of its own weight, along the pusher 19, until in the position shown in FIG. 1, determined by its front face 37 resting on the rear face 38 of the frame 7.
To cause the release of the locking device, and therefore the return of this tip to write in the retracted position, it suffices to exert a new thrust f on the head 20, so as to cause an axial displacement of the pusher 19 beyond of the writing position, in order to cause the needle 26 to cooperate with the conical surface 35. The latter then pushes the needle 26 inside its housing 27. The advanced position of the pusher 19 is determined. by a circular groove 48 made in the ring 34 and in which the needle 26 engages, under the action of its spring 28.
When the user releases his action on the head 20, the pusher 19, actuated by its return spring 24, returns to its rest position (fig. 2). Indeed, the ring 34 is dragged in the return stroke of this pous evening 19 from its position advanced by the needle 26, held by its spring 28 in engagement with the groove 48. During this displacement, the frustoconical bottom 35 of this ring abuts on the frustoconical end 36 of the sleeve 30. The ring 34 is then stopped in its course and the needle 26, unable to engage in the groove 33, closed by the sleeve 30, slides along the internal surface of this sleeve 30, then along the wall of a guide hole 49, made in the cap 31, until the writing tip 13 reaches its retracted position.
When all the writing tips 13 are in the retracted position and the user wishes to put a given writing tip 13 in writing position, he places the control member 42 in the active position, that is to say in the end 45 of the slot 43. 11 then exerts an axial thrust on the head 20, in order to cause an axial displacement of the pusher 19 of a sufficient amplitude to slide one of the cams 39 along the control member 42 and thus cause an angular displacement of the drum by one eighth of a turn and therefore bring the drum at least to the axial position shown in FIG. 6.
It then releases its action on the head 20 and the spring 24 returns the pusher 19 to its starting position. During this return movement, one of the cams 40, carried by the drum 15, engages with the control finger 41 (FIG. 5). This cam 40 then slides under the control finger 41 causing an angular displacement of the drum 15, by a value equal to approximately one eighth of a turn. When the pusher 19 again reaches its rest position, the control finger 41 is located at the lower end of the cam 49, as shown in FIG. 4.
Consequently, the selection drum 15 has been moved twice by an eighth of a turn, that is to say, in total, by a quarter of a turn, so that its eccentric plunger 18 is now located opposite of the head 47 of the next neighboring rod 10. By carrying out the operations described above several times in succession, the user causes a step-by-step rotation of the selection drum, which allows him to choose at will the writing tip 13 that he wishes to put in position. writing. A window 50, made in the casing 2, allows the user to check, during the actuation of the pusher 19, the angular position of the selection drum.
These angular positions are identified by sectors 51 of colors corresponding to the colors of the stylographs 12, and which appear successively in the window 50, when the drum 15 is in the rest position. A stop device maintains the selection drum in an angular position for which its eccentric pusher 18 is located opposite the rear end of a rod 10. This stop device is formed, in the embodiment illustrated , by the control finger 41, the cams 40 and inclined surfaces 52 connecting these cams 40 together. Each working position of the selection drum is defined by the finger 41 housed in a hollow formed by two inclined surfaces 40 and 52, neighboring (Fig. 3 and 4).
This control finger 41 cooperating with two inclined surfaces 40, 52, also determines the rest position (fig. 3 and 4) of the pusher 19.
When the sector 51 of the desired color appears in the window 50, the user acts on the actuator 44, in order to bring the control finger 42 from its active position to its inactive position (fig. 3). ). This control finger 42 is then situated in a diametral plane of the drum 15 which does not intersect any of the cams 39.
Consequently, when the user actuates the pusher 19, from the rest position to the writing position, no cam 39 engages with this finger 42, so that the drum 15 remains in its angular position. and the eccentric push-button 18 actuates the tip for writing to the writing position corresponding to the color of the sector 51 visible through the window 50. The selection device thus being disabled, this same tip for writing can be retracted inside the envelope, then returned to the writing position as many times as desired and as long as the control finger 42 is not returned to the active position to effect a change of color.
Thus, the multi-point stylograph described and shown in the drawing makes it possible to select and choose the desired writing point by a simple push f exerted on the head 20 of the pusher 19, followed by releasing the latter to allow the return of this head to the rest position under the action of its return spring. The ball bearings 22 and 25 ensure smooth and precise operation of the selection device and in particular avoid any backward angular displacement of the drum 15, due, for example, to a torque stored in the return spring or in the skin of the user's finger, during the first angular displacement of an eighth of a turn of the drum 15.
The operation of this stylograph is therefore fully automatic and the user no longer has any possibility of executing a false maneuver, which represents a real advantage over stylographs of the type described currently on the market.
In a variant, the stop device described could, for example, be constituted by a needle, sliding in a radial housing formed in the drum 15 and subjected to the action of a spring, in order to cooperate with the longitudinal grooves formed. in the walls of the bore 14. Thus, the selection drum 15 would be retained in its various working positions, not only when the writing tips 13 are in the escalated position, but also when one of them is. in writing position.
