Description
Pallet rack for cardboard box
For convenient lifting. forklifts are often used equipped with a fork which is introduced under a support specially designed for this purpose and called a pallet, the load to be lifted having been previously placed on this pallet support.
So that the fork of the lift truck can be introduced under the pallet support, the latter has voids which open out laterally.
The object of the invention is a pallet carrier of simple and light construction intended to support cardboard boxes such as, for example, corrugated cardboard packaging boxes.
This pallet support can be, at will, made integral with the box for use, or easily detached from the latter for transport. In addition, it can be mounted on the bottom of the box without the aid of any external fixing member such as staples or adhesive tapes, or even without it being necessary to glue the pallet support to the bottom of the box. cardboard box.
Thanks to this arrangement, we have the ability to transport, on the one hand, the boxes unfolded and stacked flat on top of each other and, on the other hand, the pallet supports also stacked on top of each other, that is, that is to say under the minimum bulk of these two objects.
When it comes to use, nothing is simpler than assembling the pallet carriers on the boxes.
The pallet support can be used with all cardboard boxes whose bottom has two parallel slots on two opposite edges and, in particular, cardboard boxes of the so-called American type, that is to say of the parallelepiped type whose bottom is formed by four extensions of the side faces of the box, folded into a common plane perpendicular to these faces.
The pallet support which is the subject of the invention consists of a rectangular base plate of the same dimensions as the bottom of the box for which it is intended, said base plate carrying, by means of studs, a sheet top of cardboard which in one direction has the same dimension as said base plate and, in the other direction, a dimension larger than said base plate so as to form two flaps along two fold lines, arranged. in line with the corresponding edges of said base plate, said flaps being intended to be slipped respectively into the aforementioned two slots in the bottom of the box to hold the pallet support assembled to the box.
In a preferred embodiment, all the elements of the pallet support are made of corrugated cardboard, and the studs are formed from a strip of corrugated cardboard rolled up on itself, said studs being glued by their two ends on the base plate. and on the top sheet of the pallet rack.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the pallet support object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view.
Fig. 2 shows a cardboard box ready to receive the pallet support of FIG. 1.
Figs. 3 and 4 show, in section, two stages of assembly of the cardboard box of FIG. 2 on the pallet support in fig. 1.
Fig. 5 shows, in perspective, the cardboard box mounted on the pallet support.
Fig. 6 is a section through a stud of the pallet support along line 6-6 of FIG. 4.
The drawing shows, by way of example, a model of a cardboard box capable of receiving a pallet support. This box, shown in FIG. 2, is of parallelepiped shape and the bottom is constituted, like the cover moreover, by four extensions of the side faces of the box folded down in a common plane perpendicular to these faces. Two of said extensions, namely the extensions 1 and 2 in FIG. 2, are on the outside of the box, while the other two 3 and 4 (see also fig. 3) are on the inside.
The pallet support consists of a base plate 5 (fig. 1), for example of corrugated cardboard, which supports, by a number of pads 6, an upper sheet of cardboard 7 which can also be made of corrugated cardboard. The base plate 5 is rectangular in shape and has exactly the same dimensions as the bottom of the cardboard box which is to be provided with a pallet support. The top cardboard sheet 7 has the same width as the base plate 5, but in the other direction it is longer than this to form two flaps 8, 9. The flap 8 is shown applied to the sheet. cardboard 7, while the flap 9 is shown slightly raised. For transporting the pallet support, the two flaps 8 and 9 are placed flat on the cardboard sheet 7.
Preferably, each of these is given a length equal to half that of the base plate so that these two flaps do not overlap when they are folded up. This produces a neat assembly without protrusions, easy to store for transport, and the flaps have a relatively large length ensuring good fixing of the pallet support on the box.
The pads 6 are formed, preferably, by strips of corrugated cardboard wound on themselves, as shown in section in FIG. 6, and glued, by their two ends, on the base plate 5 and on the upper sheet of cardboard 7. The assembly obtained, although light, is very rigid, and the studs, held at their two ends, are not liable to damage. unfold.
To fix a pallet support, such as the one just described, on a cardboard box, the two interior extensions 3, 4 (fig. 4) are raised against the internal faces of the box, then put on the two flaps 8 and 9 of the pallet support in the slots formed by the two outer extensions 1 and 2 of the box and the faces of the two raised extensions 3 and 4, until the top sheet of cardboard 7 comes in apply against the outer face of the two outer extensions 1 and 2. To immobilize the pallet support on the box, simply fold the flaps 8 and 9 of the pallet support in the direction of the arrows (fig. 4) so that they lie flat on the inner face of the outer extensions 1 and 2, then fold in turn the extensions 3 and 4 of the box on the flaps 8 and 9 of the pallet support.
Therefore, the pallet support is integral with the box, because its flaps 8 and 9 are trapped between the external and internal extensions of the bottom of the box and the assembly formed by the box and the pallet support is presented as shown. in fig. 5.
We see that we thus achieve a very light assembly which is easy to transport. The assembly of this assembly is very simple and does not require any glue, staples or similar assembly elements.
In a variant, one could provide on the flaps 8 and 9 of the folds parallel to the fold forming the hinge which connects the flaps to the top sheet 7, so as to facilitate the introduction of these flaps into the box (see fig. 3). by bending them, as shown in phantom at 9 '.
