Precision measuring device, such as comparator
The present invention relates to a precision measuring device, such as a comparator, of the type in which the movement of a key is transmitted to indicator members by kinematic motion amplifying devices.
It has already been proposed to transmit the movement of the button to the indicator members by means of rolling means comprising in particular slides and rollers, the indicator members being wedged on the last movement receiving rollers or on intermediate members.
It has been proposed in particular to pinch the rollers carrying the indicator members between two movable slides in translation in opposite directions and urged towards each other by elastically deformable means and guided by means of balls or rollers, one slides being subjected to the action of a return spring and the other being connected to the button.
In certain embodiments of this type of apparatus, a kinematic connection is provided between the slides, this connection provided by a beam bearing in its middle on an intermediate knife, the support of the beam on the two slides also being provided by knives. In these embodiments, any lateral displacement of the slides results in an error in the measurements; the precision of the device is therefore reduced by any manufacturing irregularity and, in particular, by any difference in diameter of the balls or rollers on which said slides roll.
The present invention relates to an apparatus of the type indicated above in which the needles carrying the indicator members are clamped between two sliding buckets movable in translation in opposite directions and urged towards each other by elastically deformable means, the 'one of the slides being subjected to the action of a return spring and the other being connected to the key, and a kinematic connection being provided between the slides, said device being characterized in that the kinematic connection between the two grouts buckets is provided by an oscillating beam in contact with the two bucket sliders by means of rollers resting on flat surfaces provided on said bucket sliders. Lateral movement of the sliders no longer has any effect on the accuracy of the measurement in this case.
By way of example, there is shown in the accompanying drawing an embodiment of a measuring device according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a front view, in diametral section, of the device, the key being extended.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view along the line II-II of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view taken along line 111-111 of FIG. 1.
Fig. 4 is a partial view showing a lever device in the open position caused by a sudden movement of the key.
The measuring device comprises a housing 1 inside which is housed in particular a base part 2 serving as a guide for a rod 3 provided at its outer end with a key.
On a support part 5 fixed to the housing 1 and on a part 6 movable in horizontal translation, roll balls 9, 10 which are here trapped in cages 7, 8. Grooves 11 and 12 respectively, serving as a raceway , are machined on the corresponding face of the parts 5, 6 to serve to guide the balls 9, 10. The part 5 is fixed to two plates 13, 14, while the part 6 is adjusted between these two plates so as to be able to slide horizontally. It is elastically returned to the other part 5 by a spring 15 fixed to the base 2 and provided with a pressure screw 16.
Between the cages 7 and 8 of the balls, are mounted two slides 17, 18 capable of moving in translation, parallel to the plane of the faces of the bearing pieces 5, 6 and comprising grooves 19, 20 serving as a raceway for the balls 9, 10. These slides 17, 18 have no contact with the front 13 and rear plates 14. The kinematic connection between the slides 17 and 18 is provided by a beam 21 pivoting around a fixed axis 22 and provided with its ends, of two small rollers 23, 24 identical and symmetrical with respect to the axis 22. These rollers roll on plane and parallel contact surfaces 25 and 26 respectively, provided on the slides 17 and 18 so that the latter necessarily move in translational movements of the same amplitude and in opposite directions.
Between the two slides 17 and 18 are clamped two perfectly round needles 27, 28 carrying indicator members and whose shaft ends pass through horizontal grooves provided in the plates 13 and 14. The slide 17 is constantly subjected to the action. an elastic return force by means of an arm 29 mounted to pivot about the axis 30 integral with the end of a spiral spring. The end of the arm 29 carries a roller 31 which pushes the slide 17.
The slider 18 is provided with a shank 32, with a flat end 33, connected to the flat end 34 of the rod 3, by means of a lever device consisting of a pivoting arm 35 mounted on a pin 36 provided , at its end, a roller 37 rolling on the flat end 34 of the rod 3 and resiliently biased towards this rod by a barrel spring 38 with a force greater than that of the barrel spring mounted on the axis 30 This arm 35 is a U-section profile, inside which can move a second pivoting arm 39 also mounted on the axis 36, and also constituted by a U profile, the concavity of which is turned in direction. reverse of that of the arm 35, and which can come into abutment against it. The end of the arm 39 carries a roller 40 rolling on the flat surface 33 of the slide 18.
A bending spring 41, of a force greater than the weight of the slider 18, constantly tends to move the arm 39 away from the arm 35, that is to say to open the joint which they constitute and to keep the slider 18 in contact with it. the swivel arm 21.
The operation of the apparatus which has just been described is as follows
In the idle state, key out, that is to say in the position shown in FIG. 1, the arm 35, under the action of the barrel spring 38, maintains the roller 37 in contact with the end 34 of the rod 3 and, by crushing the spring 41, applies the arm 39, supported by its roller 40 , on the flat end 33 of the shank 32 of the slider 18. The latter is raised and, consequently, the slider 17 is lowered and the arm 29 inclined downwards against the action of the barrel spring. mounted on the axis 30, the force of which is less than that of the barrel spring 38.
When, for the measurement of a thickness, the key and its rod 3 are pressed, the arm 35 pivots upwards around its axis 36, the angle formed by said arm 35 and the arm 39 tending to open under the action of the spring 41. But the action of the barrel spring mounted on the axis 30 causes a pivoting movement of the arm 29 upwards which, via the roller 31 and the flat surface 32, is transmitted to the slide 17 which undergoes a vertical translational movement upward by rolling on the balls 9. This movement, in turn, is transmitted to the slide 18 by means of the roller 23, of the beam 21 which pivots around the axis 22 and of the roller 24. The action of the tail 32 on the roller 40 ensures that the arm 39 is held in abutment against the arm 35 by overcoming the tension of the spring 41.
It can therefore be seen that any normal movement of the key during a measurement results in two translational movements in opposite directions, but of the same magnitude, of the two slides 17 and 18, therefore by a rotation without slipping of the needle 27 around its axis which remains fixed in space and which is clamped between the two slides with a predetermined and adjustable constant pressure, thanks to the existence of the two balls 9 and 10 on each side, and of the adjustable spring 15. On the axis of the second needle 28 can be provided a brake intended to prevent unwanted movements of the mobile parts of the device.
In the case of a sudden force on the key, this simply causes the rapid upward rotation of the arm 35 around the axis 36 and the opening of the angle formed by the arm 35 and the arm 39. Thus this effort is not transmitted to the other organs of the apparatus.
